We have been been long time customers, and very much enjoyed the cooking demonstrations they had a few years back. The bar is very nice and service is always great, and it was on this trip. We stopped in Friday and learned about the social membership now required to get the happy hour menu. Interesting idea, but it runs since it starts in May and we missed most of the summer activities already. We decided to just order drinks and an app. I really like their Scottish ale, but unfortunately it was out again. Really? Their most expensive ale and in the theme of the pub and I haven't had one in the last three visits. My favorite dish was their Sicilian calamari. We had a great experience here on May 10th when we went for a late lunch/early dinner. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside. What a great setting. I had the salmon BLT which was very good and is my go to order. My wife had a salad w salmon which she rated as excellent. And what made this experience so great was the service provided by Nina. She was professional, friendly and attentive. She is one of those exceptional service professionals who really cares. I was incredibly happy with this experience as I have had service issues in prior years. My only disappointment was that the Sicilian sautéed calamari is no longer on the menu. It was our favorite, Now replaced by a fried calamari that I can find at almost any other restaurant. The sautéed calami was distinctive and very tasty. Hope they bring it back. read more

My husband came up with a last minute idea for dinner - hey! If I don't have to cook and have someone serve ME, let's ago! It was a week day evening so it was quiet. Love it. We chose to sit at the far end of the bar, the bartender, Gabriella was quick to greet us. I ordered ginger spritz from the specialty drink menu. My husband had his pino - Gabby gave him choices of dry to sweet. He was pleased with his choice as was I. We relaxed and enjoyed our drinks, no rush. Gabby checked on us and also filled my husband glass when needed. We were happy to see some new items on the menu. Gabby took our order when we were ready to eat. I chose the short ribs with butternut squash risotto and steamed broccoli. John was happy to see scallops, so he ordered them, served with dirty Cajun risotto (enjoyed the risotto over mashed potatoes!) Our meal arrived in large black decorative bowls. The presentation was very nice and made our entree very inviting visually. Our server brought 2 glasses of water w/lemon (I had asked her to have with our dinner when it came out). The short ribs were so tender they were fork friendly, paired with the risotto perfectly- loved it! Next time I'll ask for a bit more broccoli. Highly suggest this item! Delicious and plenty. My Husband and I have been here before. We did brunch on Fathers Day last time and the offerings were the same. Just higher priced. We decided to grab their usual Sunday Brunch. For $19.95 you have made to order Omelets & some carved meats. Then a couple of warm entrees on the steam table. Along with bacon, sausage, French toast, sausage & gravy & a pasta dish. There are cold salads, fruit, pastries & desserts. Here's what irks me. The pre-sliced bagels are hard to reach because they are positioned behind the salads, tipped out of a box. See photo. Then you have to flag down your waiter to get it toasted. The salads were unidentifiable; dressed in mayonnaise? Need a little more culinary creativity here. And an ID CARD. I feel that some shrimp & Lox should be offered. I know that it can get pricey for a restaurant if people make pigs of themselves so I would be okay if included, the waiter can bring you a serving. Me and a group of friends decided to try this place for dinner. We really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and ambiance. The tables are spaced apart and Social distancing guidelines are in place. They do offer indoor and outdoor seating. The Pub is decorated for the Season, and offers a great view overlooking the course. Our waiter was great, and very professional. We had dinner there for the first and last time yesterday. We had cocktails and appetizers then ordered, what we thought would be full dinners. Three of us ordered the scallops. For $37.00 we were served 3 very small scallops. Mine came with risotto (creamy rice, not actually risotto), no vegetables , no salad, no bread on the table, none offered. My sister and brother in law substituted mashed potatoes for the rice. Their meals actually looked like a tablespoon full of mashed potatoes were smeared on the plate with 3 small scallops on top. You could literally see the plate through the potatoes. I really wish we had taken a picture of the plates. We asked the waitress if other sides were coming out. She asked in the kitchen and they told her the vegetables were in the risotto. None were visible in the risotto and nothing else was offered. We spoke to Jason, the manager? and he said that is just how the scallops meal is served. The bill came to close to $300. (Including a tip for our server working on a holiday) for four of us and we left the restaurant hungry. The facility is beautiful, the grounds are planted meticulously and the service was lovely. There has to be a big problem for this place not to be packed. It was a ghost town. My sister and brother-in-law and my husband and I are retired and we love eating out. There are just too many great restaurants nearby serving amazing food and even with rising food costs are still providing customers with a good and fair value. Had a terrific experience here on Saturday. Sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and watch bad golfers and fun skydivers...great combination. Gabriella was our waiter, and she was wonderful. Pleasant and professional. We shared the Sicilian calamari (sauteed v fried) and it was excellent. I have always liked this appetizer which we have had many times, but Saturday's version just seemed better than ever. I had the Salmon BLT while my dining partner had the Caesar salad with salmon. Well I was hungry and hadn't been out with my wife in some time. We are new to the area so I decided to try Highlander Grill. Reserved our "High top" table on their website via Open Table. Got there at 6pm which was our reservation time. When we went to check-in the host said "oh if you do your reservation online it doesn't work sometimes...referring to selecting a high top table. OK... no big deal. So we were seated in the dining area. To make a long story short my very small microwaved $18 fish and chips and her pot pie were delivered to our table literary 1 hour and 15 minutes after we ordered. I had to send my dish back and ask to not remake. The $20 Pot Pie was good but small for $20. Drinks were good. Our waiter Colin was nice but obviously overwhelmed. Been to this location a few times in the past few years. The last time we were there 3 months ago it was not good. The service was slow. The food wasn't good overall probably won't go back there for a while. After all this is just a golf club pub not really a restaurant. They have live music. That's too loud. They put it in the dining room instead of the bar area and you can't hear yourself breathe. They do have a beautiful area to sit outside which is very nice if you're going for some drinks and appetizers. That's all I would really go back there for. The brunch is just ok and too expensive for what you get but if you're a buffet person and don't really care about quality just quantity go for it. read more

We had dinner on the patio on Friday evening. The restaurant and bar were packed and the band was playing outside. It was a beautiful night to enjoy the view of the course, enjoy cocktails and have dinner. We started with an appletini and cucumber martini. I ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes which were actually very good. I had a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. I was impressed with my dinner, however I do believe the additional $5 for a side Caesar salad should have been include with my $27 meal. My friend had the scallops which she also said were delicious. She also ordered the side Caesar salad. I did take pictures of it god but for some reason only the salad appeared. My daughter had the children's chicken finger platter with French fries. Overall, a very nice improvement to the the old menu. Having been married at Scotland Run, my husband and I like to return to the Highlander Pub around our anniversary to celebrate. The overall quality of the brunch is great for the price of $19.95 per adult. They have a made-to-order omlette station and carving station staffed by two employees. Additionally, they trays of penne pasta, eggs, French toast, blitzes, potatoes, tilapia, chicken Marsala and breakfast meats. They also have bakery goods, bagels, fresh fruit, pasta salads, etc. It's not the largest buffet, but everything is good quality. The made-to-order omlettes and carved meat are the standouts. As common as penne vodka is, I also found that to be of excellent quality. The pastries and small desserts are pretty standard, but they aren't really my thing so I don't mind. Unfortunately, the service is just lacking. All they really need to do is clear our dirty plates and make sure our beverages are refreshed. Our server left our used plates on the table the duration of the meal, leaving us to rearrange the table to fit everything on it. They weren't particularly busy during my recent visit so I'm not sure what was going on. My second mimosa was also super pulpy. I've never had a pulpy-mimoa and thought that was kind of gross. In the past when we've noted our anniversary on our Opentable reservation, they've acknowledged it with a flower on the table and even once a complimentary beverage. Now I'm not expecting freebies each time, but they didn't even acknowledge our anniversary at all this year. That would be a really simple thing to make them look good and make us happy. It won't make me think any less of my amazing wedding experience at Scotland Run, but it may make me think twice about this anniversary tradition. read more

We went to lunch on a Sunday after the completion of their brunch for a special occasion. We were so disappointed by the "limited" Sunday lunch menu. The regular menu was not an option. The limited menu included one salad and three sandwich options. There was also soup available. If you did not prefer one of the four options listed, you were out of luck. One of the members of our party does not eat meat or dairy and was told the kitchen could not make anything that was not on the limited menu. He ended up ordering pasta off the kids' menu. Having such a limited menu is problematic, but it is worse that there is no mention of this on the website. Luckily, the menu for kids was still an option. read more

We've been coming to the Sunday morning brunch for many years. Since covid though, this is our first time back and we were extremely disappointed. The price, of course, went up and the food was atrocious. The eggs tasted like they were instant powdered eggs, the turkey was very dry, the shrimp was actually spoiled and ended up making my father very sick. The amount of food offered was a third of what it used to be and everything tasted stale and disgusting. We complained about the food at least three times to our very sweet waiter who then said he informed the manager. Manager never came out to say a word to us. ​We will never return. read more

Attended a bachelorette dinner here this past weekend. Making reservations was simple and it was nice to not have to choose from a set menu for a larger party. When we arrived our table was all ready on the patio as requested. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Drinks and food came out quick too. No one had complaints about the food, the appetizers and meals were really good. Once it got dark though we all started to get bit up pretty badly so we couldn't order dessert. Maybe some bug lamps would be a good idea. Also there was a man playing music on the patio. He was ok, but way too loud if you were sitting too close. Thankfully our table was set up far away so we could socialize. I'm generally not a fan of loud live entertainment when I'm eating dinner and trying to chat. To the chef or manager please note that you can make a right out your parking lot and there is a farm stand that sells fresh Jersey tomatoes. So instead you served a caprese salad with unripe tomatoes and never offered to take it off the bill or discount it when the person only ate the cheese and a little salad. We made arrangements for a group luncheon ( 40 ) after a Memorial service. Terribly slow service. We waited at least 45 minutes for orders to be taken. It was another HOUR until we got our food. Embarrassing having guests wait this long. They are inefficient, short staffed , and although the food is good I would say go elsewhere. P.S. My family and I made reservations for lunch here to celebrate my graduation. It was my first time there and I have to say the venue/restaurant is gorgeous, great for taking pictures! The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. With that being said, it's important you know that the service here is terrible. Literally terrible. No exaggeration. I've never received such poor service at a restaurant. We ordered our meals at 1:20 and didn't receive our meals until 2:30. By that time my family was fed up and ready to leave. Wait staff took forever to bring us refills and had no sense of urgency or pleasure in their service. It's like they weren't even trying. The manager took 20% off the check and gave us complimentary desserts which was nice but if I could "re-do" my graduation day I would pick a different restaurant. P.S. Last Wednesday my family and I went for dinner to try out the prime rib special we kept hearing so much about. This is my first time writing a review for a restaurant because I was just so impressed with the overall experience that people deserve to know about this gem! From the moment we walked into the doors and until are last bite there was not one thing we were displeased about. The service was so pleasant very outgoing and never once had to ask for a refill on our drinks. The view was so beautiful and it was easy to have a meaningful conversation with my family. We all got the prime rib special and put in special request on how we liked our meat cooked, to the sides we chose. Being a diabetic I have to watch my carbs and they were more than accommodating to work with my needs. Our food was out in no time and everything was absoutely delicious! I have never had prime rib cooked so good! It was like eating butter! Just melted right in your mouth! My whole family was completely satisfied with their meals too which is a big thing to say! For the last 10 years i have lived less than 5 minutes from Scotland run. My husband and I ate dinner there about 6 six years and we weren't impressed with the food but enjoyed the ambience. People I know have talked about the food being good so we thought we would try it out again. We had brunch there. The food is not good at all.. All the food seem pre packaged except of course the omelettes.. Bacon ,French toast, potatoes. It's a shame because the service and ambience are great..
