Overall, Nipper's is a solid option if you're in the Deptford area, and based on how packed the place gets after 5, it feels like it may be the ONLY place around. There's a lively atmosphere in there, which may be a little too loud for some people, but it's never been bad while we're there. Granted, we've been fortunate to miss the evening rush the two times we've gone, so service has always been good; with friendly servers and the food coming out fairly quickly. No idea if this is the norm, but the service staff are always nearby and seem to be very attentive even when it's busy. As for the food, it's solid pub fare. Lots of sandwiches and comfort dishes. The salads are good, and the sandwiches (chicken parm and shrimp po' boy sliders) I've tried have been good enough that I wouldn't hesitate to get them again. The serving sizes were larger than we expected, so definitely come hungry or order something that'll be good as leftovers. If there's one picky thing to consider, it's that they under salt their fries. I usually don't like too much salt, but they're noticeably lacking. The fries are good, though. With a nice staff, fair prices, bang-for-your-buck portions, and tasty food, Nipper's is worth checking out when your craving pub food and a pub atmosphere. read more

First time here and last time. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and received their version of it I suppose . Slices of pork , a slice of ham , chopped pickles and a healthy overdose of a white sauce and it was served on an upside down sub roll . Yes , slice a roll and make the sandwich on the darker round part and leave the cut inside part on the top and bottom . Any Cuban I've ever had was always pressed or grilled but this was not , it was just sloppy upside down bread . I've never had a Cuban sandwich like this before ! It was a sloppy mayo dripping mess that I couldn't eat because I can't eat mayonnaise, something that should have been on the menu description. When a server popped by I asked what it was and she said it was a mayo- horseradish sauce and walked away . I ate the tater tots and left the sandwich, it was pretty bad . Well my boyfriend was finished his meal and both of our beers were empty and yet no one bothered to ask if we wanted another round . We sat there and waited, looking around at the 3 employees who were just standing there talking ... no one seemed to care. Our server who disappeared after taking our order walked right past us to chat with a couple of younger guys right behind us , they were regulars and she obviously knew them . They were chatting and laughing away and here we sat with empty glasses , an upside down sub roll slathered with mayo sauce and no server . Finally another server came by to ask if we wanted anything else and I said no just the check . She saw the sandwich untouched and I said I didn't know it had mayonnaise , something I can't have . She brought the check back and said she removed the Cuban . Um ....no , we were charged $2.50 for the tater tots which I did eat and $2.00 for the Cuban . What did she remove ? Meanwhile when our server saw we were leaving she finally decided to tear herself away from her conversation with the guys to ask if we were okay ....no but thanks for asking . A drink refill , a stop by to see if we needed anything or how was the food but no , we ceased to exist after she took our order . Overall pretty disappointing experience here and we won't be returning. And we're always very generous tippers but not tonight . Tonight we tipped based on the overall experience.... Food - not good at all Service - pretty much nonexistent Atmosphere- if you're a regular you get treated like you matter , you actually get a server that's not invisible !!! First time here heard good things. Apparently a new menu which waitress wasn't familiar with, as I ordered the Fried Fish Sandwich and asked for the Remoulade sauce in place of tartar...she said, "we have that?" I replied, "yes, it's on the shrimp Po'Boy." And I received a shrimp Po'Boy...haha it wasn't a big deal, but it wasn't what I originally ordered, it was delicious though, so no complaints on the food. Service was a little slow, but I can live with that. I'll definitely come back, look forward to trying the wings, which I've heard are very good...just wasn't in the mood today. My son moves to the area so we stopped in for a bite to eat. Small quiet place that looks like a local spot, that has both an inside and outside bar and seating area. We decided to sit outside on a hot but beautiful sunny day. They have umbrellas on all tables. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers to start. We ordered wings that I truly enjoyed, and grilled shrimp in a garlic ptarmigan spice that was really good. The waitress and bartender were both great, they made sure we were doing ok and didn't rush us to order dinner. This place has a lot of specials, but we just ordered burgers and steak quesadilla. No complaints from anyone.. We will definitely be going back when down on the area again. Maybe next this time we will hang at the bar for a little while. read more

Bartender doesn't have the iq of a dog. So one night i'm tired it's been a long awful day so i decide ill get a burger and beer sounds good. Ive seen this place (Nipper's Pub) on my way home many times so i stopped by. I sat down and got ignored for a while and then the bartender of my nightmares comes over. "Can i help you?" "Yes,ill have a Budweiser." I say. "I.D.?" From her as expected. I give her my i.d. And she walks away. I immediately knew what was happening. She comes back a few minutes later. "Is this fake haha" hands it back "no why" i got a response i could never imagine. " well i just looked for a picture of it in my book and i cant find one that looks like yours" (continues to hand it back which ur not suppose to do if its a fake) and she walks away. I just sat there for 5 minutes contemplating what just happened and a different bartender comes up and asked me to leave. Bottom line don't go here if your under 50 and not divorced. You'll ruin the vibe and scene. Wish I could've enjoyed it seems like a cool spot for my future. read more

As someone who works in the industry I always try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt, pulling up to Nippers they have a nice exterior and a cool outdoor bar area. the interior itself reminded of your classic pub and i thought i was in for a treat. it took me 15 minutes for the waiter to even acknowledge us, if it were busy i'd understand but she was standing at the table beside us facing us and having a conversation, we ordered our apps and entrees but the kitchen decided to send everything to us at the same time. the food wasn't the best but I also wasn't anticipating a five star meal, what really is driving me to give such a low rating is the service. not once did the waitress come over to ask how our meal was besides when she dropped off our check. this place has a ton of potential but when the attitude of the front of your house isn't positive and willing to provide a good experience then it really becomes an uphill battle read more

Typically I have a great time here and the staff is always pleasant. Last night we had a server (didn't catch her name, blonde girl) who was pretty rude and rushing us. My friends ID was two days expired but she had the paper showing it was renewed. They wouldn't serve her (I don't blame them, not their fault), but the server had such an attitude about it. She came back and said "I'll give you some time to decide what you want to do" (meaning stay or leave. We came for wings, drinking wasn't the deal breaker). She came back and snatched the menus up so fast, we told her we wanted to order and she acted like she had an attitude we wanted to stay. We all got sweet chili nuggets and they were pretty flavorless compared to all the other times. A group of friends and I stopped by Nippers Pub after a roller derby competition! We ordered the tots, seafood fries, a round of beers and margaritas! I ordered the seafood fries and enjoyed them to the fullest, lol! They were extremely tasty! The staff is very friendly and did amazing job making sure all of the patrons were satisfied. The wings were fine, but not something that I would seek out, on par with any other small bar like this. The drinks are cheap, our server was friendly. It seemed like a quiet crowd during happy hour on a Friday night. Most of the people at the bar appeared to know one another. Seems like mostly locals, in fact it seems like a lot of people walk to the bar, as there were far fewer cars in the lot than you'd expect for the number of people in the bar. There is nothing particularly wrong with Nipper's, but I can't really see much of a reason to go there if it isn't within walking distance. Great place for lunch during the week. Very cool little place to stop in in the middle of the day and have some good food and a drink. Food is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend the hot roast beef with roast beef gravy and horseradish on the side. Well there are pluses and minuses. Good juke box but the volume is so low you can barely hear it. Sometimes they have some good small bands and that's fun. There are two or three regulars, including one older guy, who literally commandeer the television remote, complain whenever you want to listen to some music and act like they own the place. Annoying as hell. Time to send them on their way. Bartenders seem like hustlers. Can the smiles be any more fake? And they mysteriously disappear, even when things are slow. I have sat at the bar 15 and more minutes with literally no one staffing the bar. Off smoking joints in their car? Oh, and I am pretty sure the bartenders rip the place off. Lots of drink politics: free drinks for bigger than usual tips, nod, nod, wink, wink. Who wins in the end, really? Just cut the beer prices a bit and stop the bartenders from shaking down the customers and the establishment. Oh, and the cops need to stop staking this place out. The stops without probable cause are unconstitutional and disgusting. All in all, though, glad the place is around. Usually good place for some drinks, sports and music. Old dude, though, please get a room at the assisted living center. You are not better then anyone just because you are there six nights a week nursing your one Budweiser over hours. Walking in to Nipper's is like walking into your best friend's house. You are greeted by the staff with a smile. The only thing I would tweak would be the lighting. I like going out on the deck when the weather gets warmer because inside is a bit dark. The food has always been good, drinks are served in big people glasses not sippy cups. Been coming here for years, but don't get there quite as much as I used to, but still enjoy going there when I want a few beers and maybe some bar food that is close to home. It also can be fun to people watch at this place. I also only go on weekends. It's a good, solid unpretentious, locals bar that has been around for years. It attracts all ages with a more middle aged and older crowd earlier in the evening, and as it gets later the clientele gets younger. The crowd can look a little rough around the edges at times. It is not a place that attracts the hipster, yuppie, or soccer mom crowd. It gets a more old school, south Jersey crowd. The staff has always been friendly and quick to get you another drink when you're sitting at the bar. They do have pretty good food, and some of the best wings around IMHO. Prices are on the cheap to average side. They offer a decent selection of beers but don't expect to find a selection of fine wines or fancy cocktails. In the summer they have a fun, little patio bar. The place has plenty of big screen TVs to watch the game. They occasionally have small bands, and when they do it can get very crowded. Other times it's either a DJ later in the evening, or the jukebox for music. Overall, it's a decent, locals south Jersey bar. The fun, unpretentious, solid blue collar type of bar that is getting harder to find in this day and age. read more

I went here after work around 12:30am. Place was empty, but there is never a crowed that late on a Wednesday night. At that point they were ready to close. Any other place would make u feel uncomfortable about being "that a hole" that's keeping the place open, but the staff was super nice and personable. Def an awesome local bar.
