Love this eye center! This is not your average lenscrafter type place where a doctor sees you for 10 minutes and then moves you along. I spent almost an hour with the doctor, and she tried several different contacts to make sure I had a perfect fit. They took tons of different images with some really sophisticated machines, and the doctor took the time to explain it all to me! Really enjoyed here, and would highly recommend if you're looking for a professional eye center who will take time with you, and not just put you through the motions like those big box stores. read more

My appointment was efficiently conducted and Dr. McClain took the time to explain the results of all of my tests. Got both my glasses and contacts here as an "emergency" appointment as I had lost my previous glasses over the holidays. They said they'd check if they can try to squeeze me in and they did schedule me for the next day! Excellent staff. Very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. I can't say enough great things about this place! I've seen both Drs. Le and Hey. Both doctors were kind, knowledgeable, and considerate of all my questions - I tend to ask a lot because my eyes are pretty bad. As good as the doctors are, I have to say the reason this is a 5 star (rather than 4 star) rating is Donna the optometrist. She was incredible. She spend quite a bit of time with me, showed me a number of frames, talked me through all the options, and made me feel like I was the only patient there (even though she was also helping others). The pricing seems fair considering how expensive eye care is these days but all in all, this place is a great place for eye care. I'm thrilled I found them (and they take my insurance)! read more

I purchased several pair of prescription eyeglasses (2 of which were sunglasses) through Highlands Eyecare and I've always had great experiences with the optometrist and with the retail side. My husband and I went to look for sunglasses during their lunch hour and though they were closed, they let us browse and I was able to narrow my selection down. Donna has always been extremely helpful in picking out glasses that fit my face and look nice and she's always upfront about the costs. She calculated what insurance would and would not cover and gave me the totals prior to my purchases. She even saved me an expedited shipping fee (charged by the sunglass manufacturer) as she found out that the company's lab was behind and I probably wouldn't receive them fast enough to justify the extra cost. There may be limitations on what insurance covers but the restrictions come from the insurance companies and the eyeglass manufacturers, not the eye clinics. They have a great selection of eyewear and I have not had to look elsewhere for the styles I wanted (both fashion and sport). read more

This was a really comfortable and relaxing eye examination and selection of frames. I enjoyed the upbeat, casual atmosphere and how helpful all of the staff was. I felt well informed after the exam and like I learned a lot. I would definitely have asked more questions when having the final exam which selected my prescription, but being my first visit back to an eye doctor in a long time, I didn't realize the importance of this step until after I left. Great hours with options for people working 9-5. Had my first vision exam ever there. They explained everything well and were very nice despite it being Christmas Eve when I'm sure they'd have rather been at home. I didn't end up needing a prescription and wasn't pressured to buy anything (except a special eye scan that's not covered by insurance, but they weren't too pushy at all). I thought it was very nice they let me reschedule the dilation part of the exam because I needed to do things later on that day. No charge for that second appointment, yay! Everything was covered by my Aetna medical (not vision) insurance, which it was hard to find a provider for. Glad I chose Highlands Eyecare. read more

Highlands Eyecare has the best selection of frames of anywhere I can find. I went their first because they are nearby my house and then looked around at 10+ other stores but could not find anywhere that had close to the quality or quantity of designer frames available. Nor could I find anywhere with as knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. I highly recommend Highlands Eyecare for those that are very particular about how your glasses look and fit. read more

Almost $400 for a set of of high end coated lenses, got it wrong the first time, got it worse the 2nd time I gave up and now have a set of $400 drill mount lenses in Oakley titanium frames sitting in a desk drawer beside the old lenses they were meant to replace that were ruined previously by another optical shop in Santa Fe NM. The optical center of these lenses it literally 1/8th of an inch from the bottom edge of the lens.To be able to see out of these I would literally have to point my head upwards at a 45° while gazing though the bottom of 18 inch of the lenses. I worked with them for a month trying to get a functional set of lenses before I finally gave up since my vision insurance year was about to reset and I could just get another set of lenses somewhere else anyway. I have a simple correction for myopia with no unusual physical characteristics or corrections. The shop I originally used to buy my Rx glasses from had no problem putting lenses in many kinds of high end exotic and sporty frames but out west getting a decent eye exam is hard but getting a pair of glasses worth having is proving darned near impossible. read more

I had my first time experience at HE and it was great. The wait time was extremely low, the service was as good as it gets. I liked the doctor, she was very personable and informative. They catered to whatever my needs were and didn't push any other kind of agenda. I was there for a check-up on my LASIK surgery and they were more than happy to fax the info over to the LASIK surgeons in order to retain my warranty. I had a great experience. read more

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Dr. Hey. I've needed a lot of help with my eyes this year. First, with a new contact prescription for my aging eyes and then with an injury that required a lot of attention. Dr. Hey takes the time to explain options and answer questions and he genuinely cares about his patients. I was so concerned about my eye injury that he even made himself available on a holiday to check my eyes and make sure they were healing correctly. The front office staff has no Idea what they're doing. their online appointment request process is relatively simple. when it came time to actually schedule an appointment over the phone the receptionist called me by the wrong patient's name and even though I selected that I was using an FSA account to pay for the visit she requested my health insurance information anyway and would not schedule an appointment without it. after telling me that they did not accept that insurance I reminded her that I was intending to pay with my FSA card. I probably should have cut and run right there but I proceeded to go ahead with my appointment. the eye exam and negotiation for purchasing contacts and eyeglasses was relatively smooth we eventually came to an agreed upon price and I stated I would need an itemized receipt as I was using an FSA card and would have to submit it. I was assured that I would have a receipt emailed to my email address. and my contacts and glasses would be ready in 2-3 weeks. cut to a month later I had gotten my glasses but was still waiting on my contact lenses and receipt. when I called inquiring about the status of my contact lenses I was told that they were back ordered and would not come in for another month, i made plans to pick up an emergency pair of trial lenses. the next day I received a call that my original order was ready to be picked up. both on the phone call and when I picked up the contact lenses I was assured I would be emailed an itemized receipt. now 2 months later I call again intending to pick up a hard copy of the receipt and was told that I now had a balance of $125 for the original eye exam, when I questioned it i was told they would look into it and call me back. when they called me back an hour later they now stated that I owed $229 for the eye exam and eyeglass frames. I still haven't received my original receipts but once I told them that I would not be paying a penny until I see an invoice I now have a bill in my email inbox. needless to say I've already submitted a complaint to the Colorado division of the better business bureau and I would Highly recommend you go elsewhere for your eye care needs read more

Horrible customer service. I went back for an eye exam roughly 1 year after getting new glasses from them. I needed a small change to my prescription, but didn't want to buy new frames. No problem I was told, but they'd have to send the frames out to get the lenses cut and installed. They suggested I wait to drop off my glasses on Monday so they don't just sit in the office. (It was a Thursday.) That's when all the trouble began. The following Thursday I hadn't heard anything so I called to find out if they were ready yet. I was informed my glasses had just shipped the day before. That means despite dropping them off first thing Monday, they sat around until Wednesday before someone could mail them! A few hours later I got another call that the lab broke the frames while trying to install the lenses and wanted to know if I would pay for new frames. When I protested, they offered to check with the eye doctor if they would cover the cost. At no point did anyone inform me there was a possibility this could happen. Another call back, and the eye doctor agreed to cover the cost. But, isn't this something that should be discussed before trying to foot the bill on the customer? Of course, they don't have the exact frames in stock and will have to order them. The following Friday I call to check on status. The frames were just shipped the day before. What is it with shipping happening always the before I call? I'm told they likely will be in on Monday. On Monday I don't get a call. So at 4:45 I call them and find out yes they're ready; they left a voicemail on my home number. All of the previous conversations were calls to my cell phone, but this one time, after almost three weeks they decide to call a different number. I finally got my glasses on Tuesday morning after almost three weeks. Never going back! read more

Highlands Eyecare is not a place I'd recommend for vision care. The exam was not thorough and Dr Le did not take the time to discuss my vision or any changes to my vision. I felt rushed. They also made.a huge mistake in what they told us our rebates would be for contacts, which ended up costing us way more than expected. Overall they are not competitive in coats of services or products and I had to call and ask for my prescriptions twice. read more

I had a great experience at Highlands Eyecare. I was involved in an accident, hit my head, and was worried about my eyes. Vonna got me in to see a doctor right away. She also administered some preliminary tests and was friendly, professional and thorough. I have had Dr. Le in the past and really liked her. This time I had Dr. McClain who was very good as well, and was particularly good at explaining what she was doing. I was very happy to be able to make a Saturday appointment as I don't like to take time off from work. The staff and doctor were friendly and the appointment went smoothly aside from the fact that I found out that my vision was much worse than I had originally thought. While waiting for my eyes to dilate, one staff member helped me choose glasses that would flatter me and held them until I was able to pay for them. My only complaint is that glasses are too expensive, not that this eye clinic was more expensive. My boyfriend actually commented that the cost was very reasonable for the glasses. read more

I have been a client of Dr. Le for over 3 years now and I have to say, she's wonderful. My first visit was in 2009 and I have excellent insurance - I was able afford to get high end frames for glasses I now needed to wear every day while on the computer. There was a bit of a mess up - not by their office but the manufacturer. They are Lafont frames. I think one of the assistants who was there at the time was a nit-wit and had no problem solving skills. (She's no longer there) The frames weren't in when expected. Dr Le called me personally to apologize and offered to provide me with the store copy of the frames and have them fitted with my prescription to use until my new frames & lens came in. Really! That's taking responsibility and going above and beyond. Dr. Le is always kind and engaging and provides thorough details during my visits. She's very hard working even while 7 months pregnant running a business. I have to comment on Mo's review from January 2012 - I think this person takes no responsibility for her own health care. Clearly she had no idea what her vision insurance would cover - this is your responsibility, not the doctor's. They are your eyes and it's your wallet. Manage it yourself and you won't have a need to blame others for a result you didn't expect or want. I feel sincerely if it were true that Dr. Le and her husband were only interested in 'getting your cash', then there would be a lengthy list of bad reviews here. But the evidence is to the contrary. I have referred many friends to Dr. Le (I refer lightly) and everyone has commented on how nice she and the assistants are. I agree 100%. If you need a new eye doctor - go see Dr. Le. She will take excellent care of you. But also - take responsibility for your own health care and know your benefits before seeing any doctor. read more

I'll start by saying that I don't write reviews often and I prefer to only do it when I have experience exceptional service but I've been thinking about this for the last 6 months or so and after today, it's time. The staff here is very friendly and Dr. Le is very thorough and will listen to all of your concerns and work to get your script just right. I'm not sure if my old eye doctor ever sent my records so she was very patient with me to ensure that I would be happy. Recently, she even called me personally to get a better understanding of my concerns with my current contacts. Unfortunately for the doctor, the customer service here is seriously lacking. I will say that I've had many friendly conversations with ladies who work here. Trying to get my contacts just right has involved a number of trial pairs, one box order and then a request for another brand - as you'd expect, I'm in regular contact with the team during this process. But, while friendliness is not the issue, there are so many "we'll call you tomorrow" or "we'll let you know when your contacts arrive" that never happen and miscommunication/no communication between their team... or simply waiting 5 or 10 minutes to pick up an order that isn't in the pickup box, that they have to hunt down somewhere in the office even though they said they were ready to pick up. I would estimate that 80% of the time that they say they'll call me, I have to call them days later because I never heard from them. I'll talk to one person and when I call back to follow up or find out what is going on, the next person will ask me the same questions that I spent 15 or 20 minutes discussing with the last person I spoke with days before. It's so frustrating! When I went in today (Thursday) to pick up trials that I was told would be there last Saturday (but they'd call me when they arrived and didn't), the girl at the front asked me if the Dr. said I could have the trials because I would need an appointment for them. If that was the case, why was this never mentioned to me/scheduled when I ordered them? Or why didn't they call me to let me know they were in and ask to schedule an appointment to pick them up?? I would find a new eye doctor now but since I have to pay (with insurance) for the annual visit, I'll wait until the 1 year mark when my prescription expires... For the record, every single eye doctor I've been with since I first got glasses/contacts 20 years ago has entailed 1 annual visit, a fitting/maybe 1 trial pair then a regular box shipment from 1800Contacts. Simple. So, if you want a quality doctor and need one simple visit per year, I recommend Highlands Eyecare. For me, I'm looking for recommendations for eye doctors in the Wheat Ridge/Highlands neighborhood. On the bright side, I've never been so motivated to get Lasik in my life. read more

The front staff (Brooke) patiently walked me through my insurance and cost items, fit me for glasses, and even referred me to a place that could fix my glasses (which they couldn't do).
