My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends this evening at the HSC. It was our first time to eat here and the experience was great. Martha N provided outstanding service. She had a dry sense of humor and was so pleasant and kind. Definitely ask to sit in her area. The deviled eggs were incredible. We could have eaten a plate full. The chargrilled oysters tasted amazing. My wife said her fried chicken was some of the best she has ever eaten. The glazed carrots were so delicious. I had the trout and it was very good. We shared desserts as a table and enjoyed immensely the banana pudding, blackberry cobbler and the bourbon brownie. Both parties took some dessert back to our rooms at the Skyline Lodge. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was delicious and the service was top notch. Highly recommend.

A cozy, elegant, homey space with beautifully plated dishes. Our group had three red meat dishes and a fish dish. All cooked to perfection with wonderful flavor, especially the ribeye special. Our waitress was knowledgeable, made great recs, and was competent on accommodating for food allergies. Overall, a solid choice for a nice dinner in Highlands!

We loved our log cabin meal! The building was originally constructed in 1930 by a local builder, and the inside screams historic while still tasteful and functional. We came in with our infant, and felt comfortable having her there since there were other kids at tables, and the other guests and servers were all kind to us, even when she got a bit fussy. The cocktails were expertly crafted in appropriate drinkware. I loved my Bees Knees, and my husband enjoyed his Kentucky Mule. For our meal, we split the elk tenderloin along with the mac n cheese. The elk was incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and the white cheddar grits it came with gave it a homey feeling. This dish encapsulates the Southern & Appalachian inspirations of the restaurant. The elk tenderloin dish may be a bit pricey, but we found it was worth it for the quality and unique nature, and we both were full splitting that and the mac n cheese as a side. I've already recommended HSC to others who will be in the area, and I hope to return as well!

The place is very large inside. It's a log cabin that's been turned into a restaurant. What attracted our attention is that they serve elk. We started off with sharing the Mixed greens salad with candied pecans, goat cheese, cranberries and it claimed to have a blueberry vinaigrette. However the salad was quite dry. By the time the waitress checked on us, we had just about finished it. She then offered more dressing but it was too late. I got the elk tenderloin with cheese grits and asparagus. It was all very good. The grits were more lumpy than I expected but had good flavor. I got the elk cooked medium and it was cooked perfectly. The waitress told us the elk came from Wyoming. The asparagus was exactly how I like it; it was cooked past al dente. We also got a side of mac & cheese. It was a bit soupy but had very good flavor. My guess is white cheddar with some toasted bread crumbs on top. Although the elk was good, the rock star of the evening was my husband's pork chop with carrots, bacon, and thinly sliced apple. It was huge, thick and flavorful with amazing carrots ! Omg, I could have eaten an entire plate of just those carrots ! For dessert we shared a piece of the Chef's own recipe pecan cream cheese pie. It was indeed very good. They accidentally blackened the top of the pecans but otherwise very tasty. The waitress stated all desserts are made in house. It was difficult to select one. They all sounded so good ! Other options were peach cobbler with 2 scoops of ice cream and banana pudding (she said the pudding was more like custard). The main reason I did not give 5 stars was due to the VERY uncomfortable seating. There was a choice of small hard wood chairs or ladder back weaved chairs. I tried both and I hated both. When leaving, I noticed there were a few tables that had a one-side wooden bench seating. Try to get this if you can. I shifted uncomfortably thru the entire dinner, my foot fell asleep, and I was miserable. They definitely need to make some more comfortable seating available. This alone would prevent me returning even though the food was excellent.

Amazing!! Beautiful cabin with cozy interior and amazing food! Chef was subbing as bartender for the night and so welcoming; great drinks and we enjoyed elk and red snapper and our friends enjoyed ribeye w mac n cheese and a few desserts. Best meal while in Highlands!

Evening was great. We went for my husbands birthday and we loved the food. We had the elk and the trout with a Cesar salad. Banana pudding jar for dessert. Yum! Perfect tasting dishes we will come back for sure. Service was excellent; we asked for a fireplace table and got our food quickly. Ambiance was quiet and relaxing.

Our dinner at Highlands Supper Club was fanatic! Teddy was also a delight to have as a server! You can't go wrong with the pork chop, chargrilled oysters, or the mac & cheese (or all of it). We will be back!

It's such a beautiful and peaceful space to dine, especially with the amazing Spring and Fall temps they get there. We were with a party of 6 (plus a baby), and walked up without a reservation a bit late in the evening. We figured we'd try it and see if we could get in if it wasn't too late, and luckily enough, the hostess was kind enough to make it happen for us! The menu actually has a lot of variety for a wine garden - drinks and food wise. I started with the French onion soup and it was delicious. The Caesar salad was also quite yummy, but the meatloaf was the showstopper of the night! I am still dreaming of it now, and wish I could replicate it myself because it was that good and memorable! For dessert, I ordered the affogato which is their house made vanilla bean ice cream with an espresso shot and it was the perfect ending to the night! Our server was so attentive and kind, and constantly checked in on us and cleared our plates since the tables are a bit on the smaller side. I had an excellent experience all around!

Very Disappointed -- Would Never Go Back…read more We had eaten at Primary once while visiting the Highlands a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, that experience was disappointing from the beginning. The bartenders were rude and unhelpful, and the food and service were two stars at best. The one reason we decided to give Primary another chance was the Sunday night prime rib, which happens to be one of my favorite meals. I completely understand requiring a credit card to hold a reservation. I was a chef for 10 years, so I understand the business side of reservations and no-shows. Unfortunately, our French Bulldog became seriously ill around 3:30 AM Sunday morning, and we felt we needed to rush him to BluePearl in Atlanta. Because of the emergency, we obviously could not make our dinner reservation. I tried calling Primary, but no one answered. The recorded message instructed me to send a message through the OpenTable application, which I did. I explained exactly what had happened and asked if they would please refund the reservation charge given the circumstances. I also emailed the owner personally and explained the situation. His response was simply no because we did not show up. I reminded him that I had followed the restaurant's own instructions and contacted them through OpenTable as soon as I could. He still refused. What bothered me most wasn't the money. It was the complete lack of professionalism, customer service, and empathy. Emergencies happen. I would have expected a restaurant to understand that a sick family pet requiring emergency veterinary care is very different from simply deciding not to show up. After our first disappointing experience, we gave Primary another chance because of the prime rib. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled guaranteed that we will never return. If I could give the owner negative one star, I would. Don't waste your money or your time supporting a business that treats customers this way.

Ended up using the back of the booth for our water bottle and condiments and still struggled for space. Buffalo wings were good but not exactly Buffalo. No buttery spicy hot sauce. It was more peppery than buffalo. Wings were cooked perfectly though Reuben is excellent as are the jalapeno Mac bites. Cheese dip was also excellent but we (and the table next to us) had to ask for more chips. Not portioned terribly well. Beer options were very slim (2 on tap from what it gathered). I'm sure there were plenty of bottled options but draft was disappointing. We ordered the ale but they tapped out and brought us brown ale. At 5pm...only a brown and stout on tap.
