Holy portion sizes!!!! I thought, "let's get a couple appetizers for brunch!" The Poutine is a startling amount of food. Should 100% be on the entree menu! Deviled eggs are some of the best I've had, ever! Country fried steak was obviously cut from some prehistoric bird! Just a massive slab of delicious fried meat over biscuits and topped with gravy and an egg! Eggs Benedict was also excellent and a huge portion. BLTA we also really good and came with a ton of fries. We live in Charleston so we are very familiar with the Oak Steakhouse that's located here but the one at the Skyline Lodge, really delivered!! Everything about the restaurant was so special, amazing location for a sunset dinner, perched high above the Blue Ridge Mountains - amazing views. The best thing is if you stay at the Skyline Lodge, it's just steps away from your room and that comes in super handy when it's brunch time! We were fortunate enough to enjoy these two meals; dinner & brunch with our kids (who are foodies too) and they are now huge fans of Oak Steakhouse. They said it was the best steak they ever had, you can't go wrong with the Filet! The menu is not huge but really has all of the dishes you would want for an amazing dinner. Plenty of options, even if you don't eat steak. Amazing sides to accompany each dish and you must start with the bread, which is made in-house. I went with a dish I have not tried before and it did not disappoint, Venison Wellington while my wife tried the trout. I will let the photos do the talking. They also pour an amazing espresso martini by the way and to finish you have to try the chocolate cake, trust me! We also want to give a shot out to all of the staff and servers; their attention to detail and overall service was outstanding! Seems to be the case at all Indigo Road establishments, they really know hospitality. Came for a girls night , very excited after long anticipating the chefs night and under the stars. However, when we arrived we found out the $100+ pp dinner was just a small taco buffet . So we went upstairs, without refund. When we asked for our surprise birthday cake to be brought upstairs , the same man who was downstairs conducting the " special dinner"- came up in front of the whole group asking about the cake to be moved - including the obvious birthday girl we were trying to surprise - in LENGTH. My wife and I had an excellent meal in our first visit to Oak this holiday season. It's a modern restaurant with a subtle mid-century vibe that nods to the Skyline Lodge that it is incorporated into. Our server was very friendly and (unprompted) comped our bread service after a lengthy delay. Once received, the bread was amazing and went nicely with my lettuce wedge salad. The entrees were excellent as well, with my wife loving her risotto and my steak frites being top notch with fork-tender beef and amazing truffle fries. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Set in a renovated mid-century motel, Oak Steakhouse oozes cool as soon as you get out of your car. Service is knowledgeable and very friendly. Our server, Scott was an integral part of the dining experience in a terrific way. But the food....we started with the pork belly and burrata were fantastic and perfect to begin the evening. The Scottish salmon was proclaimed to be the best ever! The Bone-in pork chop was excellent as was the Venison Wellington. We selected the Mac n cheese and drunken mushrooms for the table. Both terrific. The servings are huge and it is difficult to finish an entree. HOWEVER, we managed to order the Southern Caramel Cake and the Oak Blossom Short Cake. The Caramel Cake was incredible! What a great lodge and restaurant tucked away in the NC mountains. The first time DH and I had dinner here, it was a foggy, drizzly evening on Nov so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the view, but the service and food was amazing, TY Trevor! We recently went back for brunch (sorry no pics), another drizzly day, but got a peak at the view and the food and service was again amazing. Service was very good - there were no specials but recommendations were given. The iceberg wedge was perfectly chilled and served with pickled onions - mmm. The filet was excellent and paired with a creamy Bernaise. The brusells sprouts were flavorful and the feta was interesting. The only let down was the lobster risotto. The lobster was nice but the risotto was poorly cooked - it had a little crunch and tasted as if it had been cooked in a very fishy broth. I'd stick to the steaks. I went to dinner on February 1 with my girlfriend celebrate our two year anniversary. They set up a heater for us even had a special gift and Trevor was amazing. We had great service. I am struggling in figuring out how to review Oak Steakhouse; I've been bouncing back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Landing on a 4. Here's why.... Arriving at Oak Steakhouse, we waited a weirdly long time to have someone see us at the check-in desk. A sign that they are understaffed currently. No biggie, just a little odd. I ordered a filet, as well as the chopped side salad. My husband ordered the burger (he just wasn't super hungry and didn't feel like a steak), which came with fries. My salad was HUGE. Easily could have been a meal in itself, especially if you had an appetizer. My steak was the problem. I ordered it medium-rare. It came out well-done. (Background: I am originally from Nebraska. I was brought up on having good steak, and often. I know my steak.) Cutting into the very middle, it did seem to arrive closer to a Medium temperature. But I paid for a 8oz steak cooked Medium-Rare, not a 6 oz Well-Done (which was dryyyyyy and flavorless). There was maybe only 2oz cooked properly. The waitress was apologetic, and took my steak back to the kitchen. Maybe 10-15 minutes later she brought out a new plate. Fortunately my new steak was cooked correctly (maybe even a touch on the rare side of things). Much, much better. The char was a nice addition to the steak, and I very much appreciated it. My husbands burger was *fine*. I wouldn't have called it a smashburger, and it wasn't the best burger in the world. It was fine. The fries were YUM though, for sure. The reason why this isn't getting a lower review: they did not charge us for my steak! kudos to Oak Steakhouse for doing everything they possibly good to make things RIGHT. Thank you! BUT: I wouldn't go back. Why? Because $60 for a steak that was good, not great (even after being fixed)...just isn't worth it. The steak, plus the price of my side salad (sides are not included in the price of the steaks), and no bread service or anything along those lines....like, that better be a heck of a meal. And ours just didn't blow me out of the water. Service was slow. Not our waitresses fault, she was seriously running between tables. They are understaffed. The restaurant was loud, and only half full. (No soft carpeting, etc, to help with noise). Bottom line: Oak Steakhouse made up for their overcooked steak, and then some. But it just isn't worth the money, honey. read more

Visited the nearby Dry Falls with the family for my wife's birthday, our first time visiting this location. Kids were hungry so we searched for nearby restaurants and this came up so we decided to give it a try. We didn't realise this was such a popular location and there was a dress code, so we got there, no reservation and wearing shorts. I was almost certain I'd be turned away, however, we were warmly welcomed and they got us a table even though they were very packed. What great service we got, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals, even getting a free desert for my wife's birthday. Will definitely visit again !! read more

The food here is absolutely delicious - my husband said the dry-aged ribeye was the best steak he's ever had. The service is also outstanding; we ate here once for dinner and twice for lunch, with a different waitress each time, and they were all just great. The host and our waitress for dinner were so nice and made the night feel even more special when they learned we were on our honeymoon. The Oak Smash Burger with truffle fries was my favorite entree, I ordered it at both of my lunch visits. Portion sizes are very nice and we almost always had leftovers. We really, really wished they were open for brunch through the week, but alas, we didn't stay in town through the weekend so we didn't get a chance to try it. The biggest downside, and the reason we didn't eat dinner here more than one night, was because of how loud it was in the evening. The tables are relatively close to one another and when the restaurant is packed during dinner, the volume of everyone talking can get intense. Lunch here was the complete opposite experience, with only one or two other tables being taken, so that was a much more peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere.
