Haven't been to a salon since covid and had a special occasion booked last minute so the search was on to find a place for highlights and a trim. This place came recommended and had good reviews and they happened to have a spot open in time for my event. Upon arriving, I was pleased with cleanliness and layout of salon. I communicated with the stylist that I wanted to blend some minimal grays that were just at the hair line ( a treat from pregnancy) and get more gold highlights and take out any red. Showed the stylist a photo of myself with the hair I wanted (pre-pandemic hair). I thought she understood. I've been having my hair professional done for decades...and this is the first time I've spent 4 hours in a chair...even when getting the "works". For those of you who've had your hair done, you know it's not like you can just get up and walk out half way through....you sorta have to just deal with results and hope for the best. Which is what I did.. The stylist was knowledgeable about the steps and communicated but I knew she had gone down the wrong path with my hair when she herself expressed it came out darker than she had intended but "not to worry" she'd fix it with the highlights. I didn't see how that was possible but I had already been there 2 hours and I wanted to trust in the process. Fast forward and I ended up with reddish / rusty highlights on the caramel side. A far cry from my photo and my ask. The stylist even remarked that it was NOT what I had asked for but at least it looked better than when I came in. I didn't find the remarks comforting. While she tried to get me excited about how great my hair looked all I could see was this dark streak/line about an inch wide that wraps around the back of my hair where she tried to do a 2 color process which she admittedly had said it didn't work out the way she wanted but again not to worry..( this is in my new hair growth area). Needless to say, I was just over it. My hair was darker and redder than when I went in! *I did have to take a couple calls while in the chair (and she was patient with that)..but they were max 10minutes total combined so I really doubt that impacted results. The stylist did say she guarantees her work but I don't want to give it another try. $240 later ( I left $40 for tip)...overall disappointed... l I could have spent $20 for an at home out of the box coloring that I would've been much happier with. Giving 3 stars for cleanliness, friendliness, haircut, price and availability. read more

She listened to exactly what I wanted and explained her techniques since they were a little different then what I am used to seeing also gave me great advice on upkeep! The excellent colorists and friendly but fast service is why I drive over two hours to get my hair done here. I have even converted some other friends to do the same, amazingly! I had a great experience here getting my hair done after my sister recommended it. Brenda was my stylist and she did an amazing job with my hair! She's talkative and really kind. She recommended hair products and different treatments that I was interested in. She even offered a touch up within the week if I felt I wanted it shorter or more layers. I came in just because it's local but I would drive over the hill to have Eleanor do my hair! she didn't do my Baliage (sp?) that was from somewhere else, but she matched my natural hair color and covered my gray and gave a cut and gloss to restore the shine! This Place is great for Wedding parties and brides!! I booked Highlights for my pre-bride hairdo and they also opened the shop on a Sunday to accomodate my wedding! My girls and I went there knowing Daisy and her work. Daisy did my hair (I am the bride) and went with my suggestion and made it work beautifully!! I was thrilled with my wedding hairdo thanks to Daisy!!!! My girls liked their hair too, one goes regularly to Daisy. Highlights is a little pricey, but other than that I was very happy!! read more

Worst haircut and color I've ever had. I asked for a light/medium brown color, with highlights and provided a picture regarding the cut. I ended up with dark brown, almost black hair, with no highlights and a cut that looked nothing like the picture I provided. My hair was also badly burned from processing. I called to express my disappointment and was told by the owner that she was "sorry". The hair dresser called me and said she was "sorry too". I've made an appointment at a very dependable salon to see if anything can be done to to fix the issues. Would not recommend, very disappointing. read more

So this place is pretty nice, outdated decor, but clean and decently friendly. I used to come here for about a year until I found a closer salon I liked more. I had about 4 different stylist each time, the first which got me hooked was a younger girl who did a great cut and highlight. After that the service decline and the last I believe I had the manager or owner, she whipped through my hair, not listening to my complaints of pain and chatting with her friend, yes the end result was pretty nice and it was quick, but it certaintly didn't feel like I got my moneys worth. I love this salon, I've been going here for 12 years. They have this amazing new keratin treatment. I have very difficult hair; thick with frizzy, tight curls. This treatment puts keratin back into your hair, leaving it rich and smooth. Now if i blow dry and straighten my hair, it doesn't curl back up in humidity. Also, I still have curls but they are more realized and much much smoother. And I hear that other salons are charging twice as much as Highlights for Hair! Ask for Gabe, he's the best. read more

This place is awesome! I see Linda for highlights and cut, she always does an amazing job! I drive from Danville just to see her. I walk out of the salon feeling great! The highlights are always the exact color/tone that I like. She cuts layers into my hair that gives my hair some volume (which is so hard to do with my flat, stick straight hair!) She also did an amazing updo for a wedding that I was in! I will continue to make the drive from Danville to see Linda because when my hair looks great, I feel great! read more

All i'm going to say is: Mimoossaaaaaaa! Went to HfH to see Virginia. She greeted me very warmly and took care of getting that little gray that somehow likes to peek-in OUT! A nice dark glaze with a little subtle low-light for dimension, and i was done. Loved the touch of offering a mimosa while the color was setting. I discovered this hair salon because I work just a few doors down the way. It was super convenient, so I thought I would try it out. I have been seeing Daisy now for over a year. She is great! I am always pleased with the way my hair turns out, and we have tried some different things. She is super knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. She has seen me in cvs downstairs from Highlites 3 times since I stopped going to get my hair done with her. Not once did she try to make amends or make things right UNTIL she saw the post on YELP. Is this what it takes to get a service providers attention - A BAD REVIEW. This could have been resolved after my second visit. I was told Daisy can get attitude. Used a Groupon for partial highlights and cut with Marie. I've been using Groupons for about every hair dresser in the Bay Area these past 3 years, and Marie did the absolute best job...better than any of the rest. I paid for partial highlights, but I think she did almost full highlights. She took her time and she got every bit of my grey covered, which is not easy with highlights. Then, I told her what I wanted cut, and she gave me exactly what I had imagined, but better. It looks so cute. Feel like a new, younger woman. She's also super friendly and down-to-earthy. No more Groupons. I'm sticking with Marie. And her prices are about the same as the Groupon anyway. read more
