Super stoked to find my favorite local hairstylist Sarah hasn't left the area! In fact she's at this new brilliant salon in Carson next to the Napa Auto parts. Hairstylist and owner is super patient with toddlers. My son hates hair cuts and scream his lungs out. Sarah always accomplishes of giving my son his prefect haircut with style. Railene is incredible! For the past couple of years, I have been looking for a hair artist. I found Highlights by searching Google for 'book online appointments'. I really liked how convenient and easy it was. After signing up and choosing my date and time, I received a notification that Railene would be doing my hair. Besides being easy to talk with, she was also funny! As a result, the time seemed to pass quickly. There are a lot of cowlicks in my hair, so I have always accepted what a salon delivered in the past as acceptable. But Railene listened to what I wanted and delivered exactly what I asked for. After two weeks, I'm even happier with the results of my appointment. I love how subtle and beautiful the highlights are that she did. In fact, it has caused me to change course from my original hair plans. In addition, the cut is just what I wanted! Because I enjoyed Railene so much, I made my Mom an appointment to have her hair cut and she is super happy with how her hair looks afterwards. Even though she is very picky and hard to please when it comes to her hair (she will be the first to admit this is true), she had no complaints afterwards. The salon is very cute and very clean. I went to the nail tech that works here. Her name is Josie. I found her via instagram, and her work looked amazing. She has an online booking app which made it very easy and convenient to get on her books. The day of my appointment Josie texted asking if I could change me appointment time because she had a large gap between clients. I did the best I could to adjust my schedule as I had taken time off work. I loved how my nails turned out! Very satisfied! I then had texted her asking to book a fill. We had several texts back and forth and then I never heard from her. So I went online and saw that all her morning appointments were booked so I chose the appointment that was closest to her morning appointments hoping she wouldn't have a gap. After booking online still never heard back from her. Fast forward to the day of my appointment she texts me again stating that she has a large gap and asked if I could come in 2 and had half hours later. I told her unfortunately I am not able to come in later. Explained that I live a ways away and it's not easy for me to go home and come back and again took time off work to make the appointment work. She responded to that saying I didn't need to get upset. When I was very kind in my message. Josie does an amazing job at nails but if you are looking for a nail tech to keep true to the appointment you schedule she may not be the mail tech for you. read more

Absolutely avoid this salon. I am new to Carson and waited as long as I could before having to find a new salon/stylist. I'm not picky when it comes to my hair, but I do look for a salon with a good attitude and comfortable atmosphere. I was a walk in and went unnoticed for at least 15 mins and not one other person was in the front waiting room but 2 stylists were so busy in their own conversation gossiping and laughing about clients they had recently done and other co-workers, that I was not important enough for them to greet. Seriously bad mouthing the people loyal to their business that are the only reason they are even in business. I was wondering what would be said about me when I left. When one of them did say something, it was a rude "do you have an appointment" not even a hello, while the other one just walked to the back. I said I'm new I need a trim. Then she replied there would be a new stylist coming in at 3pm and I could wait. I did, and a girl fresh out of school did my hair and she was nervous but doing fine until the stylist from the back came out and interrupted saying to do it a different way. Luckily she was almost finished so she said she would be fine. When she grabbed a blow dryer, I told her I would dry it at home, I could not spend another min in that negativity and unprofessional dirty salon. Stay far away!!! read more

Five stars is the max but, otherwise I would give 10 stars to this salon. My review is for Cecelia, at Highlights Salon. I had a great experience meeting Cecelia for the first time. She was extremely friendly, great sense of humor and you could just tell she was a down to earth person. As soon as I sat in her chair she offered me something to drink and was just super easy to talk to. I don't know about others but as a mommy I enjoy the few hours to myself and to be able to just relax and chit chat with another woman is quite literally amazing! In regards to her highlighting I am above and beyond satisfied with the technique she did and the color. WOW! I personally prefer a chunkier look rather then an overall color and she delivered just that. It is the perfect icy platinum tone of blonde I really wanted. As a natural red I head I feel that it really takes someone truly knowing what they are doing to produce what the client actually wants. Overall I just feel that this was quite literally a perfect experience with Highlights Salon. I also took notice to the decor and the super cute pedicure area. I will be booking a pedicure with my next appointment for sure! The salon looks great and I just really hope everyone can experience Highlights Salon as they are top notch with a great vibe!
