Chicago dog and Chili Cheese Fries
Sharon G.

Drove by one day and said 'Chicago style hot dogs!!!' So yesterday I finally went in, or was it out? Interesting entrance/exit??... you order partially outside, then walk either A) outside patio B) your car or C) into the dining room? C really confused me when nice gal asked 'eating in dining room?' Huh? Didn't know there was one, but once you get your bearings you'll see what I mean. Service: 100% great as friendly counter gal Food: I do love Chicago dogs and it ranked high on my scale Seating: nice outdoor patio. Did not go inside. What a fun, cute little hole in the wall hoping with the best hot dogs! Question: can I order a kraut dog with mustard and Swiss cheese???? Will return to get my question answered! *****C A S H only****

Chicago Dog

Great service, friendly and helpful. Cash only! Exactly what we were looking for. Yummmy!!

I've heard of this place by so many people. At first I was sort of scared... it looks like it's a closed down trailer home. Dumb, naive me should have realized places like that are always delicious. A "Hole in the wall", respectfully. It's basically a food truck with a more permanent building. It's definitely nothing fancy, but it gets the job done! The staff was very friendly and quick to get my order out. I ordered a variety of hot dogs such as Bagel Dog & Corn Dog, and an order of Chili Cheese Fries. The food was delicious. The corn dog, especially, was so juicy and crispy! I'll definitely be back sometime soon. Don't judge a book (restaurant) by its cover!

I love supporting family owned small businesses and I've gone here several times already. My favorite is the chilli cheese tamales. It's such good comfort food. I also like the Chicago style polish sausage. Simple and tasty. The folks are always friendly and when the weather is cool, we like to eat at one of the outside tables.

They underfilled the fry bag - not cool

How many times have I driven past the little hut with the hot dog on top? Well, today was the day to try them out. Overall it was a fairly good experience. It has a small, modest interior with only eight or nine tables. There are also a few tables outside where you can dine. They only take cash. My husband and I could both get hot dogs, drinks and share some fries for $20 which isn't bad these days. I liked everything about my chili cheese dog. It was fresh, served hot and the toppings were generous. My only major gripe was that they robbed us on the fries, not coming close to filling up the bag. A bummer, considering we were sharing. I think we agreed it was worth going back to Higley Hot Dog Hut if we were in the mood for a good Chicago style hot dog though. (We'll just check the fries next time...)

Doesn't look like much driving by but I wanted a good dog so I used Yelp to see what I could find. Higley Hotdog Hut Very highly rated! I ordered regular dog with the works and a chili fry. The Works really is everything! The dog was great, not sure what type of bun as it had poppyseed and was soft and scrumptious. This place should be on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives. Lol Great little place!

Great dog. Love Chicago trimmings. Next time I'll try the chilly dog. They had many types to choose from. Nice prices. Not expensive at all.

After moving to Arizona, I struggled to find anything close, until Dog Haus. This one comes seriously close, and honestly, dare I say...it might even edge it out slightly. The bun is incredible. The chili sauce is perfectly seasoned. The cheese is piled on generously, and the light onions on top finish it off just right. Pure perfection. I should've gone with the onion rings since they never disappoint here, but I was trying to be a little healthy and balanced things out with the sweet potato fries, which were genuinely delicious. And the cold beer on tap is the cherry on top. I'll always recommend the Cali Creamin', one of my favorites on their tap list. If you're chasing that LA chili dog feeling in the East Valley, Dog Haus Gilbert delivers. Highly recommend. And I'm not even going to get into their other hot dog options, which are an 11 out of 10.

You enter and use a touch screen to order your drink and food. Before you would order with a live person...if you ordered drinks they would get you them. I think this new process is definitely doing this place a disservice. We ordered at 1911 per our receipt...we got our food 25 mins later (more on the food in a second) when asking the server about our cocktail and beer--they were unaware. They asked us what we ordered...that sucked. My fiance had to recall which beer he selected and we didn't get our drinks for another 10 mins. When waiting we observed the server serve patrons at the bar first and during the making of my cocktail which probably accounted for the delay. It just made us feel unimportant as customers who had been waiting for our complete order...identified missing beverages and still didn't acknowledge the issues with no regard. Definitely not great service or the order of food operations. I came in thirsty and I had every intent to order a couple more beverages...that did not happen. The food.... We have always loved the food. I order the same thing--the bad cluck bowl. This time I was served 3 big WHOLE tenders in my bowl with salad or slaw. The tenders are normally cut...at least mine have been in the past. I bent my fork trying to cut these bad boys. I did the best I could but cut them in larger than I would prefer chunks. Had to use my fingers to eat some of these chunks. This was not acceptable. My fiancés chicken sandwich (normally not what he orders) was extra greasy. Overall not a great experience here. My fiance was so off put by the experience we didn't stay to order more food or drinks. We forgot to add our sides as they never come with...so we would have plus round two... So bummed.

The woman behind the counter was very pleasant and more than helpful. As I waited, I grabbed some salsa and limes from the fairy well stocked condiment cart. After ten or fifteen minutes, I got my order. There were around 6 or 7 people ahead of me, so it was a reasonable wait. I took my order and went home. This is where my opinion was changed. There was a decent amount of filling in the tacos. I took a sip of the consome, and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was! No grease layer on top (like so many others I have tried), just a well seasoned and savory broth. I dressed my tacos with lime and salsa, dipped into the consome, and took a bite. What a pleasure! The meat was tender, juicy and well seasoned. Not overdone with the cheese. Just a great bite! Goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. Well done Los Mayitos!

After asking for covers and straws, I couldn't even get the straw down inside the bottom of the cups bc there was so much ice! Even broke the cups trying! Never did get a new cup. Hubby and I only received straws once the food came out and we'd asked again for straws. Later she brought us the wrong pizza, which she should've known better bc we'd just sat down, & NONE of the other food was ready. We didn't know, so we happily shared the pizza amongst the children only to realize the mix up after they told us it came with sausage (that you could barely see on the pizza). Oh well. They didn't charge us for the extra topping. Reading other reviews, & yeah, the $17 "[sun devil] burger didn't even come with fries!" It was fire tho, & they even had vegan cheese for me, which was a plus. I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was so messy and delicious, and it hit the spot! No fries was a bummer tho. Ordered some for extra??? They have happy hour from 2-6 everyday with $1 off all drinks during that time. We didn't have any. Hubby didn't like the Nashville spicy wings. He was just expecting them to be hotter, & they weren't spicy at all. When we left, I was surprised to see a kitchen full of employees, especially with how slow the service was. Our waiter was cool tho. Spot was overall cool for a game/drink. I would only eat there again if I was in the area but only because I wanna try that coffee martini with Kahula, too.

Canned jalapeños, canned chilies the smell of it made me not want to eat it and had to cover it in ranch to even be able to take a bite. You'd think for a burger rated so high they would at least have fresh ingredients on it. My husband got the buffalo wings which were extremely dry and overcooked. I also got a side of sweet potato tots and he got a side of French fries which probably would of been good if they weren't cooked in the same old oil with the lingering taste of funnel cake.... My husband also got a bam bam wing and actually said they were good and not over cooked and should have just stuck to those. I am really sad because I had high hopes for this place but it just did not meet any expectations. The service wasn't bad and staff were friendly. The place smelled of cleaner which was really throwing me off as well. Unfortunately will not be back because not only was it extremely underwhelming the prices we outrageous.
