It's definitely on the expensive side, but it's worth it. Everything I have gotten from Bastille has always been awesome, and don't have the fear of knowing that someone will have it, as I do with Urban Outfitters. Plus, it's local and we gotta boost dem local bizzzz. My favorite thing overall is when they have sales and whatnot, you get a personalized email from the person that helped you before, letting you know you have first pick for the sales - that makes this business jump into a better category than any other clothing store I've been to in SLC. I like that.

I shop many of these brands while traveling and have bought things that have shown up at Bastille a whole season (or year) later. Maybe earlier and more aggressive mark downs would help turn over inventory quicker? When something is months old, it should go on sale. I've mostly shopped at the gateway location and despite some choppy customer service have remained a steady customer for especially their Gstar jeans. This week I got the regular presale email. Lots if regular items on Sale, a presale plus 10 % off everything in store for preferred customers. As I arrived I was greeted without anyone telling me about sale. I found a bunch of racks with red dot on tags but when I asked what dots were for (hoping presale) I was told it was marked for inventory purposes only. I found a nice dress in the regular sale area marked down to $100. As I was paying I pulled up my email and asked about the 10 % off. The man behind the register answers that that is for presale only. I said "well what's presale items then?" I get a reply from another associate that everything marked in red dots is 40 % off for presale customers. "Oh, we'll I wish I would have known that was all on sale, I wasn't told when I asked" I replied. After having gone through all those clothes thinking they were regularly priced I simply didn't have it in me to go through them all again. Frustrating. "So what about 10 % on everything in store as listed in email?" I show him the email. He replies that he can give the 10 % but that I will have to pay now and pick up dress on Saturday. Why??? Talk about making it difficult for someone trying desperately to shop the sale in their store. Argh!!! I waited for him to be decent and give me the 10% off since the sale and extra discount was the whole reason I made the special trip there and now I missed both. Silence. I finally said "oh well I guess it's not worth $10 for me to come all the way back here on Saturday". Clueless of golden opportunity to treat a loyal customer with some proper customer service, he took my $100 and wished me a good day. Felt like stomping out of there like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. "Big mistake, HUGE"! The money doesn't bother me really but how easily he dismissed and confused a clearly loyal customer who was trying to get the deal the email had advertised. In today's economy, that kind of "service" is downright stupid.

We went to this store in American Fork specifically she said the ones closer to her didn't carry anything in her size. I wasn't planning to buy myself anything, but everything was so cute, and the prices were so good that I couldn't help myself! Shelle was beyond generous with her time, and was remarkably helpful and patient. We both ended up buying a bunch of stuff and we are already looking forward to coming back next year. This is going to be a pilgrimage destination from now on. Shelle was the most attentive and kind salesperson I have ever met. She even helped us find where we were going to have lunch (great recommendation, by the way, thank you!). We will absolutely be back. And, slightly off topic, I look so cute in my new clothes. Lots of compliments. Shelle quickly figured out my style and preferences and helped me find some really great stuff. I don't think I've ever left a clothing store review before, and I'm super busy with two jobs and law school, but this place, and Shelle specifically, was worth taking the time to write this review.

Especially since Utahns only do a lot of their three areas of focus (snowboarding), a little of another (skateboarding), and, because of Utah's land-locked geographical location, none of the third (surfing). Still, here we are! Although it is like many retailers focused on the surfing, skater, and snowboard communities (like Zumiez, Vans, etc.), Volcom's focus seems more on the clothes than the accessories. So, if you, your spouse, and your kids all vibe with Volcom's style, you'll all be able to find things to wear, especially in the summer: A lot of swimsuits and board shorts, tees, caps, sandals, rash guards, hoodies, jeans, and flannel. My only beef is with the sizes ... not much for the big, not much for the tall. While not a lot many jaw-dropping outlet mall prices, their current "Essentials Kit" of 2 tees, 1 pant, 1 hoodie, and 1 hat is an excellent and well-priced way to get indoctrinated into the Volcom way.

All pretty basic, and nothing terrifically exciting. The majority of items are their own brand. Prices are relatively cheap, with corresponding product quality. As I entered, I noticed the employee at the front desk playing on his phone. He glanced up to greet me, and then got right back to business. Now, even if he had been friendlier and more available I still would not have made a purchase (this store just is not my style), and he was not rude, but....I don't know. Make some sort of effort. His boredom was poorly masked, and roused no thrill for shopping in myself.

I was gifted a sweater for Christmas. It was too big so I purposely waited until the return rush…read morewas over to exchange it for a smaller size (2nd week in January). All tags were the on it including the Koo De Ker label. I was asked by the young woman if I had the receipt. I said, no it was a gift and I wanted to exchange for a smaller size. She indicated that I was too late to return or exchange. She could even get up off her perch to see if their was one that I could buy (and sell the other one on Posh Mark). Unbelievable! It's not like I've waited until February to bring something back. Koo De Ker should mark on their labels their return policy on gifts! As I left I said, "I guess I won't be back, but you don't even care". Her response was "no I don't". I get it! It's a small boutique store but SERIOUSLY! I would suggest to the owner to do a little training. But then again, perhaps she doesn't CARE either.
