Unforgettable! About 6 weeks ago, I sent an email to the Speakeasy Cigar Lounge in Lakeway to see…read moreif someone there might help me pull off a cool surprise for my man's birthday. I got the idea that Jason should have his own signature cocktail. I had the perfect name for it and a list of drinks he likes, but I'm no mixologist, so I needed help to pull this off. Sonya McKinney, the manager replied to my request saying she was all in. And boy was she! From her creative expertise, the "Liberty Risk" cocktail was born. Jason is a retired Navy fighter pilot with an ornery streak a mile wide. Whenever the aircraft carrier came into port, the crew was at liberty to enjoy time in town, unless of course, they'd done a mischief and found themselves on liberty risk, and thus restricted to the ship. Jason wasn't completely unfamiliar with liberty risk. "Liberty Risk" became the name of his boat, his most prized possession, making it also the perfect name for his signature cocktail. Sonya didn't just create an awesome cocktail, she hung a professionally made banner above the bar introducing the drink, wrote and laminated the backstory of the drink, and bought a special Navy veteran glass in which to present the drink, complete with real Navy wings that she attached to a golden cocktail skewer to garnish the drink! She also arranged for the musician who was playing that night to lead the whole bar in singing Happy Birthday to him. Thanks to Sonya, the whole experience was unparalleled and it's a special memory Jason and I will always cherish.

In the end, it was an awesome decision!! Immediately upon entering, we were warmly greeted and welcomed. After some small talk we proceeded to the humidor where we were beyond pleased with selection. In addition to having a nice collection of some the more popular brands, I was able to find a few cigars that I had not been able to locate elsewhere. Price wise, they are on par with most cigar shops I frequent so, no issue there. After making our respective purchases, we headed into the glass enclosed lounge area which already had a few people enjoying their cigars. Thanks to those who were already smoking, upon entering the lounge area I was able to determine they had an excellent ventilation system as there was no smoke lingering. The lounge contains numerous leather chairs, small tables, etc. along with a TV, which made for a comfortable setting. They also have an ice maker and cups available to be used with your drink of choice. Also, I was impressed by the number of lighters that were on the small tables to be used by guests. While most cigar shops/lounges have lighters available near the register, finding them out and available in the lounge itself is rare. Kudos to The Cigar Box on this as it's a nice touch. The Cigar Box is BYOB, so we quickly inquired about the closest liquor store. Bill (who I later learned is the owner), informed us there were a couple of places within a few minutes (just across the highway) of The Cigar Box. Upon returning we found the lounge to still be mostly open which was cool with us. Bill let us know that were free to move chairs around as needed to accommodate out group. We got comfortable and ended up spending the next 2 hours or so smoking our cigars, sipping and talking. By the time we prepared to leave, the lounge area had filled up a bit and even with the increase, the ventilation system held its own and kept the area clear. Thank you to Bill and the staff at The Cigar Box for the warm hospitality. I will return whenever I am in the area again.

They are BYOB and we have met several of the regulars during our visits. While I prefer their selection of fruit and chocolate flavored cigars they have a vast selection of higher end cigars to choose from. They prove coffee and tea for free and have fresh ice available. Great quite place to relax.

I tried several different options and relaxed on the patio. The band playing was setting a fun, funky vibe, and the crowd was getting down. This place proves you can have classy and a bit wild at the same time. I loved the little lounge areas with vintage chairs and beautiful decor. Word of mouth gets around fast, and I see why my neighbor keeps inviting me to this spot. She has good taste and knows where to go drama free. This is a great spot for females to feel safe to go solo or bring your crew. The surrounding customers and staff were friendly and fun. I will return soon and try out some other options.
