The place was closing soon and the staff was so sweet and telling us not to rush to take out time. They recommend places to see around town and the food came out pretty quick. For this type of casual, country place, the food was OK--not great but OK. The livermush came in a large size and cut to just the right thickness and the biscuit was decent enough. I also ordered two eggs scrambled well, and I will give them credit for actually paying attention to the "well" part, but they were a little cold by the time they got to the table. Let's talk about that time to get to the table. It was not really that busy when we were there, but it took FOREVER for the food to come out. The servers were friendly enough, but they kept forgetting things and having to be reminded. Also, the tables are not set up consistently with condiments. One has ketchup and no mustard, the next will have mustard and no ketchup, then another will randomly have hot sauce and pepper and nothing else. The décor certainly is in keeping with the theme of the place. The silverware comes in little paper bags which you can write on and have affixed to the wall. Some people apparently choose to use these little bags as a confessional and write all sorts of things on them including medical history that I would not care to share with strangers via wallmount. Also, they make me think "fire hazard", which is not what you want to be reminded of in a wooden shack. Lastly, I tried to imagine the series of decisions that let to the fact that there is a pair of men's Hanes tighty-whities on a clothes hanger on the (unisex) restroom wall, but I couldn't recreate it. (As Dave Barry would say, I am not making this up.) I was a little afraid to look for the sanitation grade, but there was probably a paper bag detailing Cousin Cletus's goiter treatments covering it up anyway. read more

We got there at 1:45 and were told the grill was off. They closed at 2:00. We were not even offered a table. Staff was very rude. We have both worked in the restaurant industry and we will not being back. Don't waste your time or money. There are a lot of places to eat that appreciate your business. read more

2 out of 3 waitress are great. Food for the most part is good, just cant get butter for your pancakes. Just offers vegetable spread. They also have something against tea drinks. Charge for for second bag but you can get as much coffee you want. Doesn't make good business sense read more

Good food at a great price. The service was top notch and the food very good. My husband found his portion to be a bit small. He got the Moonshiner, a sandwich with tomatoes, pork loin and swiss cheese, though he really enjoyed it. I got the Appalachian sandwich which was a thick slice of ham, chicken breast and swiss cheese with pickles. I found it to be quite satisfying. Their sweet tea was also quite delicious. Just the right amount of sweet. Their cole slaw was also quite tasty. We will definitely come back and can't wait to try their breakfast options!!! read more

Service was horrible, waited over an hour and a half for breakfast and when finally did receive 3 out of the 4 orders were wrong. The place was not crowded either and they had plenty of wait staff. Also, they did not come to the table to ask if we needed refills for our drinks since we waited so long. It was not worth the wait. I would not recommend this place. read more

This place never disappoints! Breakfast is great, if you like mushrooms be sure to include them in your omelette because they are wonderful! This is not a fast food restaurant, if it's packed you may have to wait but the food and service are worth it. I gave this place 2 stars because of the atmosphere. The atmosphere is great, however the food was not. We waited half an hour for eggs and bacon and they weren't even busy. Very cute place. It has a great atmosphere and very kind people. The service here is outstanding. We sat down and within 2 minutes we got our drinks and ordered. The coffee is piping hot and very fresh. This place smells of coffee and bacon which is very suttle. Its a very welcoming place and is perfect for breakfast/brunch. They give you silver ware bags which you decorate and they put it on the wall. The food was great. They give you a great portion of food which fills you up. I guarantee you that the prices are great and so is the food! I greatly recommend it too anyone visiting Jefferson!! read more

First and last time in. Waited nearly an hour for our food (it wasn't crowded, about four tables of guests to three waitresses). We were pretty hangry and 5 minutes away from leaving when the food finally arrived. The fried mushrooms were dripping oil and the toast was hard, burnt, and cold. Not one apology from the wait staff for having to wait so long, and apparently others were unhappy as well; we got to witness another customer expressing their distaste for the service very loudly. Cute little country cooking spot downtown. I got pintos, fried okra and hash brown casserole for the country veggie plate and it was all great! Daughter got the kid's pancake plate and it was a lot of food, tasty pancakes. Husband's Philly steak was tasty. I would skip the chicken tenders as they are seemingly frozen/fried. This place used to be amazing. We LOVED coming here for breakfast, but here lately, they have gone downhill. The food is just good- not great, and the food seems to take forever to make it to your table. I can say that the prices are decent, but I still don't think it's worth the quality anymore. Emmie is super nice and I love seeing her while we are there- she actually works her butt off. I also hate seeing friends and regular customers just get up and go behind the counter to get their own drinks and such. Sometimes they even go back there just to chat. It seems like that would have to be a health code violation. I would love to give them a higher rating, but unfortunately, it seems like they have gone downhill every time I'm there. read more

First time here. People so friendly. Excellent service. Decor is a constant read. One customer sitting next to us was telling us about the cinnamon pancakes topped with a cinnamon cream cheese mixture. She actually gave my friend, her husband and me a fork each full of her pancakes. She was right. They are delicious. They open at 7 and close at 2. Definitely worth the trip. Terrible service. We weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or not when we walked in and the waitresses walked by us 3 or 4 times before recognizing us, the table they sat us at outside was never wiped down, and it took an hour for them to bring our food out. The "homefries" were overcooked, and the scrambled eggs were dry and had no seasoning. The waitresses also looked miserable. I would not recommend this place to anyone and definitely will not be eating here again. read more

Our coffee cups were kept full and portions were generous. The sausage gravy wasn't hot enough, but that's my only criticism. Been several times and had a good breakfast. Today sadly things went south. Watery uncooked grits, I got a snarl from my previously smiling waitress when I asked for hash browns. Cold eggs. And I bravely ordered corned beef hash. It was unrecognizeable and very burnt, horrible tasting. Coffee still as good as ever. Get a real cook back of the house girls. read more

awful. avoid at all cost..ordered eggs Benedict. Muffin wasn't toasted, poached eggs were hard cooked and Hollandaise was simply a raw yolk in a bowl. Inedible. Also home fries were made with yesterdays potatoes. Had to wait about 45 minutes fot this mess. My husbands hamburger steak was thin dry and overcooked and served without the gravy. I believe this is the best breakfast in the area. It has a wide range of offering and they will cook what you want if it is not on the menu. Place is small so get there early on the weekends or you will have to wait. I eat there a lot and have been to the McDonalds. Totally different kinds of food. Home cooking vs fast food.
