Great local hangout. The parking lot has plenty of space, use the lot across the street if you don't have mobility issues. Outside looks like what you'd expect from a decent dive bar. Inside has the ambiance of a country road house, which is exactly what this is. The staff is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. After 3 visits, this is my favorite restaurant/bar in the Berkeley Springs area. The food is well prepared and reasonably priced. Don't go looking for the fancy stuff here. The menu is simple, and that's how I like it. No drafts, all bottles, no problem if you like regular beers. The pool tables seem to get a lot of use. A bit of a biker bar but when I was here at 5:30 on a Friday evening, there were no bikers and the place was completely cool. I drive a Pontiac, so I'm not interested in bikers at all. I found Hillbilly Heaven because they came up when I searched for wings but when I spotted the special of the evening and asked what the deal was, I'm having that. A basic house salad to start was good. About 20 minutes later, a perfectly cooked New York strip arrived at my table. Medium rare and served with cole slaw (no potato because I'm doing a keto diet), it was a very good cut. $20 bucks for this plus two Coors Light bottles for $2 each? That's a heck of a bargain. Great service from a waitress who searched hard to see if there was any horseradish to go with it but couldn't find it. A1 would have to do and it was fine. Five stars here. This is a great spot. As always my reviews are not based on the wait staff/bartender, atmosphere or cleanliness of the bathrooms. I may comment but it is not part of the review. The review is on the food, so in this case it is low, but we still had a good time, I must have gone on a bad day. That said, the place was very clean! Bathrooms were smelling of pine sol. I read the reviews, I disagreed. Taxidermy: Yes there are taxidermy animals scattered, but only behind the bar and high up. Keep you eyes down and you will be fine. Biker bar: with a nice winding road out front, you will see bikers... Hillbilly: oh heck yes, and to be honest, they are a bunch of nice people! Welcome to Almost Heaven! The menu was short, reminded me of the scene in "My Cousin Vinny" where the menu read breakfast, lunch and then dinner. Large fonts spelled out the options, but they used a larger menu to offer options. It all could have fit on a front and back of a one pager. Shorter menu's would mean faster order time... The music is old Alan Jackson, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash country, it was awesome! The bartender doubled as a waitress and did a good job of keeping an ear open for us. We came in early and she was still prepping but kept an eye on us. The pool tables, two of em, were open and at zero cost. As for the food, something was wrong with my steak sandwich. It was heavy, the bread was fresh, the cheese was lightly melted, all looked incredible, but the bread held way too much of the grease. Maybe the fried Onions and mushrooms were deep fried without breading??? Either way I felt sick. Meanwhile my wife had the wings, they were ok, so she said. The sauce had a decent kick, but she didn't like how they fell apart after one bite. For my review the place will get a three. read more

Love this spot, everyone here is very nice from the staff to the patrons. Food is a great value, some of the best wings I've had. Don't let the exterior fool you, looks a little sketchy from the front, but very nice and clean inside. Nice window to look over the valley and free pool. This is a fantastic place to eat. We got the wings and onion rings. The Cajun sauce has just the right amount of heat and there is lots of sauce and the wings are large. The onion rings were very good and all the food was hot when served. Our server was great and took good care of us. This is definitely a bar setting, pool tables, low lighting, and a large bar area. The inside of Hillbilly Heaven does not look like what you would expect. It's clean on the inside with pretty large well stocked bar on the left when you walk in. There is ample seating at the bar, and even more at the sit down tables. The first thing you will notice is the smell of smoke. Smoking is still allowed in there. I'm not sure if it is banned statewide in WV or not, but I have grown accustomed to bars not being smokey, so I noticed that immediately. Then there was the taxidermy. There is a pretty impressive collection of a bobcat, coyote, mountain lion, bat and even a raccoon giving you the finger. Yeah THAT finger. There are two pool tables in the back near the bathrooms that were free. FREE. Also, the jukebox is still the "old" CD kind of jukebox. Also free. Four of us went there for dinner. I started off with some butter garlic wings which were awesome, and of course, I had to try the Hillbilly Deluxe burger (two patties, cheese, LTO, BBQ sauce, fries and probably some other stuff on it. All in all, this burger is not for the faint of heart. It stands about 7 inches tall (see pic) and is truly a mouthful, and should you finish it like I did, a stomach full as well. At one point, one of the other patrons asked me if I ate the whole thing, and looked at me incredulously when I said yes as I was eating the rest of the wings. He then turned to his ladyfriend, and told her that I ate it all. She just replied, "WHOA!" and then asked where I put it all, "in your big toe?" Now, my big toes aren't all that big, so they certainly didn't go there. He also then asked the bartender if she should take my picture for the wall. There were no other pictures of patrons on the wall, and alas, my picture was not taken. It's a fun place, a great place to hang out and talk to some of the nice locals, and it IS West Virginia, so there are some people that I chose not to talk to, but they all seemed pleasant and the bartender knew most of their names already. I'll definitely go back, and maybe even ask for more tips on the local fishing holes. Camo abounds there. read more

Prices were decent, staff wasn't real friendly as I had hoped. We still tipped well because service was provided timely. Entertainment was pretty good, pool tables, karaoke and looks like outdoor bands in the summer, I want to good back for that. People hanging out there were friendly in conversation. Our family group of 18 had a great time at the Hillbilly Heaven. Our waitress and bartender Carm was very efficient and friendly. She managed multiple tabs well. The decor of the bar was typical bar atmosphere but with a touch of Hillbilly and taxidermy. The window that that looked out the back held a surprise with wildlife ... a group of deer. The kids enjoyed selecting songs from the jukebox. It had mostly country music that added to our West Virginia experience. We were here on dollar taco Tuesday. The people that ordered the Tacos said that it was a solidly good taco. We ordered the wings crispy in spicy garlic and buttery garlic. They did not disappoint in flavor or crispness. The Hillbilly hamburger was so big and tasty. It had everything on it including French fries onion rings, mushrooms, bacon .... too much to list but definitely a must eat. Thank goodness we read the reviews ;). We were looking for someplace new for lunch today and a picture of a hamburger from Hillbilly Heaven caught our eye. However, when we arrived, we hesitated. It was mid afternoon, and it kinda looked like we were walking into a strip club- no windows, not even on the door. However, as other reviewers astutely pointed out- inside is much different. And thank goodness for me, no strippers in sight. Instead, there was a great big comfy bar, and a tv with Olympic curling on it! Inside was very clean and spacious. Everyone was super friendly. We had a pleasant conversation with the man who greeted us (who was also enjoying a beer at the bar) and enjoyed our appetizer immensely (cheese fries with bacon and ranch- real bacon, real cheese, and homemade ranch ;)) I got the hot roast beef, which is an open faced sandwich with gravy, and my husband got the mashed potato bowl, with steak tips. They were both perfect for such a dreary rainy day- rich comfort food. If you are looking for haute cuisine, fusion cuisine, innovative new takes on old classics- this isn't that. This is good simple stick to your ribs food. Food like you might have grown up eating. Real, comforting, food. Portions were generous, our server was friendly and efficient, and overall- we really enjoyed our visit. My only regret is that we didn't order that burger. We'll be back for it... read more

This is a hidden, dive bar gem! Well...I guess it's not really "hidden" since it sits in the open on the side of the road! There are a few parking spots immediately in front of the bar but PLENTY of parking in the empty lot across the road. There is a large wrap around bar and plenty of seating inside. There is a large patio area with a stage for music and a mechanical bull - and the view overlooking the mountain is amazing!!! They've recently expanded their menu and it looks REALLY good. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon (this was our 3rd visit) and had already eaten but we felt compelled to order wings to take home because they looked and smelled amazing. We ate the wings for dinner and my husband was raving about them being "the best wings he's ever had!". An order of 12 wings was $9.50 and they are HUGE! Definitely a great deal. We wish we lived closer so we could go more often. We're really looking forward to seeing some live music on the patio on a warm summer day! read more

I can not praise the food here enough, it is a pleasant surprise to go in to a bar/restaurant like this and leave with the food experience I had. As soon as I entered I was second guessing my choice, the lights were dimmed low and there were only two people sitting at the bar. But when we sat down and talked to the bar tender we were pleasantly surprised. The food is cooked on an open fire grill which gave the burger I had a unique and grilled flavor. One of the best burgers I have had which is saying a lot. My girlfriend got a chicken cheese steak and said it was the best chicken cheese steak she ever had. The meat was chunky but creamy, the bun was nice and soft, and the flavor was phenomenal. This place is an obvious local favorite because while we were eating more and more people started to come in. We were the only tourists in the place and we felt right at home. There are pool tables, slot machines, and a jukebox. I travel a lot and this is in my top 5 of best american style food restaurants. My bf and I went to Berkeley Springs for a weekend away from DC. We were looking for a bar to grab a few drinks after dinner. Our B&B and another WV native suggested we go to Hillbilly Heaven. We were told the bar had live music. The music was deafening. It was so loud that he and I couldn't hear eachother while sitting next to eachother at the bar. My boyfriend and I went to drink this weekend and I was pretty impressed. The drinks were very decently priced. Not to high the food was decent but to be fair I was half drink when I started dinner so maybe it wasn't that great. The music at the time I went was a lot of Luke Bryan and Jason Alden so fake country. I most likely won't go back as they allow smoking in the bar and restaurant. I smelled like smoke ever since. After reading the YELP reviews we decided to try this on Labor Day weekend. They are correct in saying the outside is a bit intimidating but the inside is in fact very clean. HOWEVER, the burgers tasted like frozen pre-fabs you buy at the grocery store and they are double decker so there is almost no way you can finish it. I won't go back again because in West Virginia you can still smoke in a bar/restaraunt and it just smelled disgusting. We ate at the bar and there were ashtray ( albeit clean) every 2 feet or so.
