I wanted to love this massage (and based on the reviews, thought I would), but I have been in so much pain since coming here two days ago. The massage was way, way too much pressure and when I asked for less pressure I was told "no pain no gain" as the therapist chuckled lightly. I tried to push through the discomfort but it was a huge mistake and in hindsight I should have walked out. Another big issue I had is that I specifically told the front desk person and the massage therapist I needed most attention on the right side of my neck. Yet over the course of a ninety minute massage, my neck was only dealt with for the final ten minutes, so besides my back and knee hurting really bad for the past two days, my neck pain has seen no improvement at all. Great clean massage spa that offers different types of massages besides Thai massage. The most common one is the Thai swedish spa. They do have bars on the top for the masseuse to help assist with walking on your back. A regular Thai massage doesn't use oil so I picked the combo. The massage was very nice and comfortable. Just the right amount of pressure. Their rooms are covered with just a curtain but everyone seems a respectful of keeping their voice quiet and low. They have a heating pad in the mattress that's nice and warm without making it too hot. Overall, great place for a nice massage. A bonus is that they do take credit cards. They do have a early bird special for a discounted price of massage, but it's cash only. It's from 10am to 2pm on Monday to Thursday. They offer gift certificates too. I've had better for the price/quality. My joints ached. I needed to palliate the black and blue from a 26 mile dash around the same date. Normally, I patronize some other place , but I was local and their prices were comparable . So what the heck? I got a sports massage. 90 minutes. And with this particular parlor, anything beyond 60 minutes is superfluous . Strengths: the reverse side. The masseuse did an okay job on my legs, neck, shoulders, face/temple. Time spent was succinct, and quick to the point; targeting the critical joints. The masseuse went from a wiping motion to pressing motion and applied a good amount of pressure to tenderize my muscles/nerves. Weaknesses: the masseuse spent the majority of the time on my back. The motions were overall repetitive wiping fashion broad strokes instead of smaller precise ones. It was dull and did nothing for me accept make me want to end the massage prematurely. The masseuse has a breathing tick that made it hard to relax. And yes, I know she cannot help it, but at the same time, I cannot help but hear it. Annoying: front desk asked for a bigger tip. I gave $10 on an 85 as I didn't think it was that good. I bumped it to $15, but let this two-star be a stern reminder to the receptionist never to do that again! It's inappropriate ! read more

I had just left eating from the Pho place and was getting something from my car when the very rude lady ran out of the spot and began questioning me and my sister where we where going and why we were parked there. It's like she was waiting for us to show up. As we left back to see if the donut shop was open she was simply waiting near our car hoping to catch us leave and call a tow truck. Probably the worst massage I've ever had, and I've had hundreds from all around the world. I asked for a one hour deep tissue massage instead, I got a mediocre, weak pressured massage. After asking her to go more firm, twice, I was ignored. She also slathered me with Tiger Balm, which stings and smells, and I did not ask for it. What massage place even does this??? I'm guessing because she just didn't want to put in the work, so she chose to offset the muscle tension with Tiger Balm, and I HATE TIGER BALM!! So disappointing. I normally have my Facebook because of Covid and everything has been sent that and I have been stranded trying to find a new place. This place was right by my job and I thought "what the heck I'm desperate and I need something". I called the place and they seemed friendly enough they said it was about $60 for an hour if I'm not mistaken so I came in, and the place was pretty empty. What I didn't notice however though is that the Front desk seemed really genuine and nice. I got my masseuse and she took me to the back. At first, I'm not gonna lie I wasn't that impressed. Again, homegirl went ALL IN! She literally gotten to every nook and cranny and she told me I had a knot the size of a golf ball on my right trap she said basically it's probably one of the biggest she's ever seen. And then she proceeded to break it up. It was painful, but very necessary and very therapeutic. I've always had people rub the knot a little bit and keep pushing but she got in there like swimwear. Elbows, knees, and EVERYTHING. We laughed and joked and even though massage is supposed to typically be quiet I don't mind it. I love this place and I will definitely go again. P.s. I just called to make another appointment as things are open and as soon as I talk to front lady my name she remembered me and exactly when I came how I don't know as my name is very unique but yeah A+ for customer service. I have always loved a massage, but Hillhurst Thai Spa has turned massages from a rare treat into a regular practice for me. It is clean, has a nice ambiance, it is easy to make an appointment short-notice, and the massages are truly something to rave about. Before your massage, you are given the opportunity to identify an area that you want your masseuse to focus on, which I appreciate! I have used it as an opportunity to both have an area of focus, and an area I've wanted avoided during the massage. One time that I specified an area of injury, and the massage therapist offered some soft treatment with some (peppermint? eucalyptus?) oil that was truly heavenly, and she consistently encouraged me to stop her if it was too much on the injury. I wish I could say by name any of the ladies that I have had, but they are truly all so good. I have always felt like the hour massage has been well spent, usually finished off with some good stretches, and I leave feeling somehow both rejuvenated and both ready to go to sleep!. I guess I got a decent massage, but mostly I left my first appointment at Thai Spa feeling...kind of traumatized? For one, the masseuse actually hurt a tendon in my leg. I had to actually stop the massage for a moment to keep her from hurting it even further. So that alone docks the review a couple points. What's worse is that, when I went to mention it to the host at the end of my massage, the response to my injury was, literally, "that's probably because your legs are so tight. You should stretch more!" said with a smile so big I can only describe it as aggressive. So, it was my fault! Thanks guys. But all of that was nothing in comparison to this: the entire time - a full hour - my masseuse's gut was growling LOUDLY. The entire time! So, of course, I'm then forced to spend the whole experience spiraling. Is this person sick? Are they okay? Is it immoral for me to receive a massage from a sick person? What kind of conditions are they working in that they feel compelled to work while they're unhealthy? Are they gonna get ME sick? Is flu season over? You get it. It's impossible to relax in a situation like that, and it definitely doesn't help when they hurt your leg and then gaslight you about it. So yeah, I'm sorry to report that this was a deeply uncomfortable experience. At the same time, the massage was nice. I'd throw in a star if it didn't feel irresponsible. Wow. I saw Dan who was amazing. I went in with incredible lower back tightness and shoulder tightness. I didn't guide him specifically to what needed to be addressed because I wanted to get a sense of his technique with the overall body. This is not a light pressure massage, but one that really digs into the muscles. In a lot of ways it felt like an intense (in a good way!) sports massage. Really good. Super strong. Was very happy with my masseuse. Very friendly receptionist- who didn't ask for a tip and didn't look to see how big my tip was. This is a much appreciated rarity. For that alone I'd say it's worth a visit. Only down sides are the rooms are more like cubicles with curtains and open ceilings so you can hear people walking and talking and opening doors.
