Have been going to Raven for years and it is wonderful. The masseuses are very, very well trained, the atmosphere calm and tranquil, and the prices....well, not cheap, but not awful, either -- I'd say fair. That said, I have long had a bone to pick. In one room (or two -- I think it's just for Swedish massages) they have mattresses w/ a hole to hold your head so can lay face down without crinking (is that a word?) your neck. But if you're getting a Thai massage your put on just a regular mattress. It's always bugged me because it defeats the purpose: I go in for a massage to work on my neck, but I tweak my neck by virtue of their set-up. Lots of much less expensive Thai massage places either have beds with a head holder or a pillow with a similar design. I really think Raven should do the same. There....bone to pick expressed! That isn't to downplay all the positive: a great place, but I do hope attn is paid to my one nit to pick. read more

I last visited about 2 months ago. I didn't ask for a specific person and I went with whoever they assigned me trusting them. The masseuse seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. Despite my telling them to be gentle they did not and it ended up being a painful experience. On top of everything, they had really bad breath and two months later I still can't forget that horrible smell! The owner alleging in their response that they honored my request for therapist is clearly a lie because I definitely remember not requesting anyone specifically and thinking during the time of my massage that was a huge mistake. Returned to The Raven and had a great experience with Mit. 10/10. The ambience, hygiene, and welcoming energy are always top notch here. Really friendly women at the front desk as well. I really love that my massage with Mit and May were both deep tissue massages and had the same foundation, but they both took the time to work with my body and understood where some of the key trigger points for that day were. My hips were extra tight this time and I didn't even realize it, and Mit really helped loosen them up. It's a great testament that I've had two separate massage therapists and they've both been slightly different but absolutely incredible. Will of course be returning!! read more

I agree with other reviewers who have described the manager as unstable, erratic and potentially unsafe to deal with. I had been a loyal customer for years, visiting every couple of weeks. During one visit, I received an urgent work call while checking out, so I stepped outside to talk. When told I couldn't speak in the outdoor couches area, I apologized and moved to the sidewalk outside the spa. The manager/receptionist followed me outside, and confronted me aggressively saying that I'm still disturbing the customers because the windows are open. I was very confused by that since I was indeed on the public sidewalk at this point, as other people are walking talking louder than I am. So I moved again and then the manager followed me all the way to a nearby café! Where she continued yelling and told me I was permanently banned. I tried to forget the whole situation, thinking that perhaps she had some sort of an episode. (My best friend is Bipolar and I try to be understanding of these kinds of things). I booked again online, and my appointment was immediately canceled. When I called, the same manager angrily told me that I can never come back. I've never experienced anything like this from any business. I hope ownership is aware of how this location is being managed, with loyal long time costumers being treated unfairly and arbitrarily denied service. read more

Took my fiance here for Valentine's Day and we absolutely loved it. First of all staff was extremely friendly and the place is beautiful which really adds to the overall experience. We booked the deep tissue massage for two and you can just mention that you're a couple and they'll put you in the same room. It was $100 per person which is average price in LA but for the best message out there. The massage was very unique and the pressure was perfect. 4/20/25 2PM Yuri experience. The massage was great but the person who gave me the massage was finishing up at my appointment time. I was ready, laid down on time but the massage did not start until 10 min after my appointment time. Yet, the massage ended at the scheduled time 3:30 exact, so 10 minutes less. The management to schedule someone to finish a massage at 2pm when there is a 2PM start does not seem possible, unless they are willing to then do 10min past the scheduled end time. I mentioned that I received 10min less massage than what I had paid, and the receptionist said she notified the management. Have not heard anything from the management. They can check the camera in the communal area- they would see that the massage did not start on time. Again, the massage itself was great. read more

The worst customer service experience ever! The manager (who said she's been there for 9 years) was shockingly rude and dismissive. There was absolutely no sense of customer service or kindness. Instead of trying to help me find the right therapist, she basically told me to go somewhere else! A few years ago, I got a massage at The Raven Spa and it wasn't great -- I had specifically asked for someone with strong hands, and they assured me they would provide that. But during the session, I kept asking for more pressure, and the therapist said she couldn't do it. So I didn't go back after that. Recently, a friend told me to give them another try and to ask for a strong masseuse. So today, I called to give The Raven another chance. I explained my past experience and asked the manager if she could recommend someone strong. Instead of being understanding, she got defensive and snapped, "All of my therapists are strong." I politely repeated that I just wanted to avoid another disappointing session and asked if she could assign someone she personally recommended. Then, unbelievably, she told me that if I ever didn't like a massage, I should have stopped the session midway and sent the therapist to the front desk! That's such an unkind and unprofessional suggestion -- why would anyone want to embarrass a therapist like that instead of simply helping the client get matched correctly from the start? When I again asked if she could just recommend the right person this time, she abruptly said that maybe I should go find another place -- that The Raven "wasn't for me." I was stunned. Her tone was aggressive, defensive, and completely unprofessional. There was no effort to listen, no empathy, and zero customer care. After this encounter, I can confidently say I won't be returning or recommending The Raven Spa to anyone. read more

I was in dyer need of a deep tissue massage and I prefer the type that goes hard as they can until I tap out and Milk at Raven Spa did just that. Arriving there Fatima greeted me as I walked in, her calm energy immediately brought me down to a relaxed level as I am a very anxiety driven. Very sweet and assured me that what I was requesting to get out of my massage would be accomplished by her recommended masseuse. She was right! I felt like I went thru a workout and then after being able to sit in a common area to enjoy some water, tea and an assortment of fruit added as my body decompresses. Love this place. read more

Booked a Deep Tissue massage on a Sunday girlfriend's outing, and what a pleasant surprise! The spa is a small oasis setting, low frills, but VERY serene. The overall setup is minimal, with a few rooms and areas separated by curtain partitions. Parking is street parking only. 2 hour meters are available on the street in front of the spa, but this is exempt on Sundays (which is when I booked)- no problem at all pulling right into a spot for my 10:00am appointment. I was taken right back for my appointment at 10:00, and serviced by May. May was extremely attentive to my body, applying additional pressure when needed, and checking on me when my groans got a little louder (this was a GOOD pain). I purchased the Herbal Ball add on, and this was a worth-the-cost enhancement. I've noted some reviews were critical of the time spent, but I found I was given the full hours' worth. However, it's critical that you're on time. The clock starts whether you're there or not. After the service, you're given a small plate of fruit, tea, and water as you return your mind and body to reality. This was a very nice (and welcomed!) touch. The lady in the front greeted us warmly and saw us on our way nicely as well. I'm already trying to figure out the next time I can return! read more

I did a 60 min massage here and it was mostly a good experience. The masseuse was skilled and friendly. We had requested a specific masseuse when we booked the appointment online. When we got there we were told that they booked her with someone else. Someone called on the phone and requested her so they basically decided not to honor our request and honor the other persons instead. Why would you do that? She didn't apologize to us about it. She just gave me the vibe that it wasn't her problem and we just had to deal with it. She did offer us a monetary discount but I still left feeling not so great about the whole experience. This could have been avoided if they honored requests on a first come basis. They could have also called us and let us know that the masseuse we requested would not be there. The whole premise of the request is that I am coming to your business to see that person. When the requested service provider is not there it kind of feels like a bait and switch. read more

I came here for red light sauna and a facial. I was immediately at ease upon walking in - there is such a calm, magical aura over this place. Everyone working here is so kind -- the lady at the front desk even let me stay in the sauna for longer than my allotted time. After the sauna, they prepare towels, showers, robes - it is pure bliss! As for the facial, it is not an exaggeration that it was the best facial of my life. I almost fell asleep and came out glowing that lasted for days. We've been coming here for years and always loved it, but our most recent trip wasn't that great. I purchased a gift card online, then called to make the appointment. I could barely hear the person on the other end of the line. I don't know if it was the connection, but it sounded like the person just wasn't speaking into the phone. After finding a quiet, secluded spot and holding my hand over my other ear so I could hear, we made an appointment, but was a little taken aback that I still had to give them a credit card even after I just paid them for the appointment up front, but whatever. Wife's experience: it felt like the therapist was just going through the motions. usually they spend time on problem spots they find, or ones i point out, but there was little to none of that. Massage wasn't terrible, but wasn't worth the price either. The ambience wasn't what I expected. There were people talking the whole time in what was a nearby break room or something because of all the conversations taking place and the sounds of the microwave being used. Imagine trying to relax when you hear a WHIIIRRRRRRRR then BEEEEEEEP. I mean ... really? On her way out the door to go to the appt I told my wife that I already gave the Raven the gift card number. I even made a point for them to confirm that everything was set when I made the appointment. They said it was. I didn't want my wife to have to worry about anything other than coming in to relax. I then got a call from my wife after her appointment was over because they asked her to pay, then she said "my husband gave you the gift card" and they said "it showed it was already used." I then had to stop what I was doing to get on the phone (odd I could hear fine this time) because it turns out they screwed up copying down the number when I made the appt. Yes I will gladly give you my honest feedback: I booked a Queens massage 90 min and I got a Groupon deal. I was looking forward it. My expectation: that the 2 therapists would mirror a bit the rhythm and somewhat the pressure. Not at all close to reality. Patty was working on my superior part of the body, while another therapist ( I cannot remember her name) was working on my legs. She started right away, even before Patty, she had a fast pace, worked this Stretches on my left leg, but did not do any stretches or Thai movements on my right leg, instead she kept repeating the same fast movement with oil, for a torturing length of time, the same automatic movement. One moment, I complimented Patty, that I liked her pressure and rhythm that was deep and slow, and ask the other one to try to mirror it. For maybe 2 minutes she slow down a bit, and went right back to the same speed and movement. There was no connection, no muscle awareness, no intention, no relaxation, no deep tissue that was asked, I regret not asking her to don't even touch me. Patty instead was amazing! She did work deep and slow, and was focused and connected. The problem is that was a 4 hand massage, and it was not balanced. Not even one side with the other. As one leg got stretches that the other one didn't. I mentioned I had a knee problem on my right knee. That my heels could not touch my buttock. But it would not prevent from doing anything else. It looks like she didn't even know how to do a massage and was just spreading oil fast paced with no clue of anything. If you do a recipe with ingredients that are missing the end result won't be satisfactory. The same way with a massage. I am not just upper back and arms and hands, so this is the reason for my 2 stars review. Even with Groupon deal it was not worth it. Who wants a massage to leave with your body not balanced? It would be 5 starts for Patty full body massage 2 hands only, but they share the service and so the review, as there was not 2.5 starts, for half of the body, so here we go... read more

I had scheduled a 1 hour deep tissue couples massage for my wife and I for our first anniversary thinking it would be a great way to relax. Unfortunately it was the least relaxing experience of our entire anniversary. The customer service was bad. The receptionists called the day before to confirm the appointment for our massage. When they called to confirm, I asked with no expectations, if it would be possible to tack on a 30 minute procedure my wife asked me if she could get in addition. The receptionist's response was, "you know that's something you should have asked for when you originally made the appointment." Yeah I know that's why I asked if it was possible. We arrived 15 minutes before our appointment expecting the usual forms to fill out. You know liability releases and medical history forms. We didn't fill out any of that, they just rushed us in the back room for our massage. We had only been in the room for 20 seconds getting undressed for the massage before the masseuses were already trying to enter. Now I know for a fact that I scheduled a deep tissue massage. I even said on arrival to the receptionists that we were there for our deep tissue couples massage. That's not what we got at all. I never have had this type of massage before and my wife had to explain to me that it was a thai massage. Yeah, this was not a relaxing thing to have on our anniversary. Is jamming your fingers in my ear canals and then wiping your fingers off on my face a part of the thai massage? Jamming your thumbs into my eyes? Spending the majority of the time on my legs and butt mostly ignoring my back all together? On top of not having the massage I paid for and receiving some very unsettling touches to the inside of my ears and face. The masseuse was wildly inappropriate at the end. As I was opening my eyes after grinding my teeth for an hour, she tells me her name, I could barely hear her because she clogged my ears and I asked her to repeat herself, she proceeded to say to me "TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP" (which my wife who was laying 3 feet away from me confirmed she yelled at me). I have knee and ear problems which this procedure (even if it was what a thai massage is) inflamed. You would have known about this if you had us fill out forms like I have at every other spa and masseuse I have been to in my life. We did not fill out a liability release, I cannot repeat that enough. So you really should have made sure you were giving us the right massage and not causing injuries. A funny part to me was how empty the facility was, they could have for sure added an additional procedure with the lack of clients they had when we were there like my wife requested. Thank god they didn't because I was so tense and uncomfortable at the end that we rushed out of there. Hopefully the 20 dollars I left for tip goes only to the masseuse that treated my wife because yelling at someone "TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP TIP" does not make me want to tip you at all. In short, do not go here. This will be remembered as the low point in the 1 year anniversary for my wife and I. read more

Calm, relaxing, and well detailed is the best way to describe my experience here at Raven Spa. Booking an appointment was so easy, when I called I spoke to Fatima and she provided me with various options regarding massage services. She was able to narrow down the massage services I will need based on my needs. Very well detailed and explained throughout the phone call. Upon arrival I was also greeted by Fatima, we spoke about my visit and why I really needed a good massage. She assured me that all of the massage specialist at Raven Spa are top tier masseuse and all have years of experience. I have been having some upper back pains due to shoulder injury and neck stiffness, and based on our conversation, Fatima Assured me I'd be in good hands. She set me up with Milk, who did such an excellent job, from the moment I began the massage I instantly knew it was going to be a good session. Milk really relieved the tension and stiffness in my upper body I was experiencing, she did some hot stone massaging on my back and was firm and applied just enough pressure my body needed to relieve my muscles. Throughout the entire massage I felt calm, relaxed, and at ease. I will definitely be booking my future massages here at Raven Spa and will also recommend all my family and friends.
