And drove back to the cabins instead of staying the next night in Austin. This place is heavenly. To begin with, it is a gorgeous setting ~ quiet, calming, lovely views from the porch. Next, the interior is BEAUTIFULLY decorated and appointed ~ nothing left to chance from the dishes to the wifi & TV. These cabins are elegant, more high end than some expensive hotels. And, yet, they are rustic ~ fantastic reconditioned barn wood ceilings, gorgeous stone bathrooms (with shower large enough for two;), giant full cabin length deck. I felt very pampered by the comfy king bed (super delicious sheets!) and the outdoor jacuzzi (easy to use). Another plus is that the owners are great. Easy to deal with and so willing to help. We LOVED our stay and are looking forward to staying again. If you get the chance, stay at Stony Ridge. You will be enchanted too!!!

I loved the covered porch with surround sound and the hottub. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were super soft. I also loved the shades that you simply pull down to cover all the windows at night. It really was peaceful and just the getaway we needed from the city. However, for the price I expected much more because I have never paid this much for a cabin that didn't include everything we needed for our stay. It also could have been a little cleaner for my liking when we arrived. First, they only provided 3 dinner plates, 4 small plates and 4 bowls along with 4 forks, 4 knives and 4 spoons. This would be OK if there were two of us and we were only staying one night, but they knew there were 3 of us and we were staying 5 nights. If you allow that many people for that amount of time, then you should provide enough of everything they will need during their stay. I mean who doesn't at least have an 8 piece setting? Also, while there are pots and pans, they are the cheap metal kind that everything sticks to, so basically useless. And don't count on using the oven because they only provide 1 glass 9x14 pan, so bring your own pans if you want more than a casserole or microwave dinners. There is the grill but its small. Also, the seating in the living room is not very comfortable and really only accommodates two. There is the patio, but again there is only setting for two. And it does get chilly on the patio in the evenings and unfortunately only 1 throw blanket was provided. We had to drive 40 minutes away to the nearest Walmart to get all these basic items that weren't included and that was frustrating. I would have simply brought my own items if I had known. If you are looking to only stay one or two nights with your significant other and you don't plan on making your own meals, then this place is great, but for a family who likes to cook who prefers comfort over looks, then I would look elsewhere. For that reason, I am only giving 4 stars.

We have been visiting the Hill Country Casitas for several years as a regular getaway place just 45…read moreminutes outside of Austin. Featuring beautiful views of the hills, each of the Casitas have their own personality. Sized for different needs, each Casita is well designed for comfort with well selected furnishings and finishes. Most have outdoor fireplaces, which are wonderful for gathering around on a chilly evening. All of the Casitas are very comfortable. However, for couples, I would highly recommend springing extra for the very private "Pauline" Casita. Located at the top of the hilltop, the Pauline features a large soaking tub and double shower. The views are spectacular! If the Pauline is booked up, there are others that are comparable. Recently, Hill Country Casitas added a large pool and spa, which are great for warm months. Other amenities include a large outdoor pavilion, a retreat center, firepit, and outdoor game area. Hill Country Casitas is also adjacent to the wonderful Hawk Shadow winery which we recommend for the tastings which are held on an outdoor terrace overlooking the canyon. If you are a "dog person", Hill Country Casitas also is very "dog friendly". I can't recommend it more highly for couples, family get togethers, wedding celebrations, or corporate retreats. Five Stars! Check it out!

First of all, the 'cabin' was a stone house that was as cute as it could be. The owners must either have a really good sense of style or they used a professional decorator. The appointments and style in the cabin were first very attractive. This place not only had all the amenities a first class hotel would have, it had some very, very nice touches added, such as rockers on the porch draped with Mexican blankets in front of the outdoor fireplace, with a stack of wood ready to burn. The tiled shower had a shower head on each side wall, so two people could easily shower together and have plenty of room. The bathroom was equipped with lots of plush towels, plush rugs, a hair dryer, all the soaps and lotions, and a black washcloth for makeup removal. The kitchen was fully equipped, including ground coffee in the canister ready for the coffee pot. The cabin was immaculate too. Our location was quiet and restful, yet 20 minutes from two cute towns. I was pleased and impressed, and would highly recommend this retreat.

They sent us an email cancelling on us unless we wanted to rent the property out for $6500 more than what we originally paid. I think it is due to new management but they have no regard for keeping the customers they had. We pretty much begged them to let us keep our booking and they wouldn't. This caused us to have to scramble for a new spot. Since we are late in the game now, most places were taken and we were forced to pay $2,000 more than we originally planned due to them cancelling. Entirely disrespectful to get rid of their current bookings. I would highly NOT recommend planning on staying here since they are unreliable and do not hold their end of the deal up. They caused us a lot of extra money and added stress.

The pods they had were probably from 10 years ago. And please do not leave any personal items there as we did. It's like a tooth extraction to get it back.

Very cute and accommodating. More than some hotels where all you have is coffee maker and a couple cups. Lol. Great experience. Will definitely come back.
