I've been coming here for years. I never have a problem getting an appointment. There are annuals you can schedule, or sick visits you can call in during the week in the morning at 8am to see your doctor the same day. I see Dr Kennedy, and appreciate her responsiveness. She calls me for blood work results and responds quickly within the patient portal. She listens and seems to value the patient preferences. The patient portal is very user-friendly and intuitive. There are clear directions in the office and people are friendly if you get lost. The lab itself is also walk in after you get the doctors order. Quick and efficient. Get something from Wildflour or a slice of Antonio's after. read more

Worst place for immediate service. was written a prescription twice incorrectly and they expect clients to wait until Dr Cristina Mitchell returns from vacation or day off. WTH! now I have to wait another time for a third prescription to be written correctly. if this office cared about clients instead of the cash they screw us for, I would think to write a good review. This is. it the 1st time I've run into "your doctor isn't working today" response. Even though we have doctors here working today, nobody can help you. What a letdown! One of the few practices in the area that are still taking patients. The vast majority of the doctors here are family medicine doctors meaning that they are specialists in outpatient medicine for both adults and kids. They are filling up quickly, however, so I would be the first to get in line here! They offer all your vaccination needs and as all good practices should do, they push the flu vaccine which is the only way in which we can prevent the dozens of people who enter the local hospital every year and the deaths that come from it! They are all very courteous, nice, pleasant and nonjudgemental. They serve patients of all socioeconomic statuses and there is plenty of parking outside. You have to book appointments way in advance but they also offer a lot of same day appointments so call ahead! read more

Been going here for years. They have vastly improved since I first started coming here. Plus, they will see you 7 days/week for sick visits. Here's my take: Pros - as mentioned above, they will see you 7 days/week for sick visits - friendly office staff - quick with refills - improved wait times (used to be awful) - Dr. Christine Kennedy - she is my primary & she is fabulous. Caring, genuine, & non-condescending. She is the reason I gave 4 Stars instead of 3 Cons: - busy office - but of a maze (one place to check in, 1 place to wait, depending on your doctor) - not accepting new patients - don't feel like some of the medical assistant take vitals correctly, especially BP. I'm a nurse...I know you can't get an accurate reading in 10 seconds. - location; I live in Lincoln, so heading to Pawtucket isn't ideal Bottom line, as long as Dr. Kennedy is there, I'll be coming back for years to come! read more

I wouldn't go here if you paid me. First off trying to make an appointment is impossible there are so many office and no one ever answer the phone, and you have to say you have an emergency just to get seen the same day. I had to go 3 times in 1 week because my doctorS (yes I used an S, it is impossible to see the same doctor twice) refused to give me medicine... oh it is just a head cold.. yeah okay that is why I have a fever for 2 weeks, I am coughing blood, dehydrated, been sleeping for days, haven't eaten, loosing weight... and on and on. The first time I went for my "head cold" I also went about a bump on my eye brow ( I have a chronic cyst issue on my scalp) So I thought it was a cyst it wouldn't suprise me. The doctor didn't know what it was he had to google cyst to see what it could be. He then asked me to get my previous doctor from back home to fax over my file about my previous cysts. My doc did and this guy didn't even call me to come back in or anything! I finally found a new and better doctor and it was a cyst and I was given something for it so it wouldn't explode on my face. I really wish I could get my copays back from these people because they are total rip offs and completely rude. read more

I've been going to Hillside Ave. Family & Community Medicine for about 10 years now, ever since I moved to RI. I chose this place because at the time it was covered by my health insurance company and was only 1/2 mile from my home. For years I was a patient of Dr. Klein's; I really adored him. He was a younger doctor, very patient and knowledgeable. When I hadn't needed to go in for an appointment for years, when I came back, I found out that he had left the practice. I was randomly assigned to Dr. Sperber as my primary care physician. I really do like him; he's honest and understanding, willing to listen and willing to give the best advice and medical opinion possible. They do have an option, via their website, to contact your doctor via email with questions he is able to answer for you and every time I've done that, I've usually always received a response within 24 hours, even on the weekend! My only complaint about this place is that even though you are able to call in and get an appointment the same day, be prepared to wait. The last time I did this, I was in the waiting room for an hour and half! Me thinks not. read more

Given the nature of the previous reviews, I had to come to defense of Hillside. I have been a patient with Dr. Michael Klein for more than three years, and he has been wonderful. I have almost always been able to see him same day, and even when he isn't in there's always someone else who can, even on the weekends. He has helped me address a number of chronic conditions and his referrals have been spot-on. He's a sweet man with a wonderful sense of humor. I can't say that the office is always on time, but I don't think that is the fault of Hillside, but more a symptom of the health care system as a whole in this country. Whenever my doctor is running way behind, he explains why, and more often than not it is because there was an emergency. I'd recommend Dr. Klein, and Hillside as a whole. I can't speak to everything they do, but for primary care, it's a sure thing. read more

This is the worst medical facility I have ever experienced. It is unorganized, unprofessional and overall I felt the doctors cared more about getting paid the most for their services, then they did for the wellbeing of their patients. I have been going to this facility for several years. First, I was treated by Dr. Fine, secondly by Dr. Klein. I wish there was any doctor on the current staff that had the dedication or concern about patients like either of those physicians had. I know it's hard to find a good PCP, but do not go to this office. You would be better off at a good walk-in rather than going here. read more

Under new management or ownership they where not stellar to begin with but now they have the most insanely bad Customer service we lost out last pill on an antibiotics prescription so we called to find out if we needed the last one. They said they would call back and never did we called over 12 times and finely drove down from Scituate 30 min away waited 20 min in waiting room to be told they called the extra pills into the pharmacy go pick them up,.., great just tell me that... Needing to see the dr for a script update I tried to make an appt. They told me that I needed to pay a $50.00 cancellation fee first. Due to being hit hard by the economy I couldn't, but set up a payment plan. Needless to say, I was hung up on by staff. Soon after they told me that I could pay the $15 co-pay and $10 toward my balance and I'll be seen. I told them I could pay one or the other but not both at the time. Staff told me those were the terms. When I told them that I guess I'd need to forego my meds I got a snippy "Ok" and was hung up AGAIN! If you want a drs. office that cares more about money than your health then this office is for you. read more

-I've never had a problem seeing a Dr. the same day. -I've witnessed two misdiagnoses -Dr.s mean well, but I have a feeling they are following a script. Perhaps a result of scheduling too many customers in a day. Be careful when scheduling a follow-up appointment. I found it odd that they wanted to schedule a follow-up so badly. They then told me I could call back and change it or cancel it. I didn't think much of it until I got the invoice for a missed appointment fee. It took over a year to get this sorted as you have to speak to a Dr. and because I wasn't sick I couldn't see one. Been going here for 4 years or more.....time to leave. 0% on time with appts.....I am literally sitting in the waiting room....again.....35mins past my appt. I have had to walk out 4 times in the past couple years because the dr was 45mins past the appt time and i still hadnt been seen yet. I even booked his earliest appt in.the day to avoid delays......my appt was now 40mins ago and i am still sitting here. This isn't an isolated case of a delay this is chronic. How about i charge him my hiurly rate to sit there and wait? I can't believe the lack of respect for patients. We are busy people too, not cattle....feel free to acknowledge that fact. I made an appointment with them for a check up, a couple of weeks before check up was not felling well, but due to money problems did not want to make another appointment because I was sick. Showed up for my appointment on time and was asked for 25 dollar copay. Told them I could not pay it till Fri (appoint was on Wed). I was told I could not be seen unless I signed a paper saying I would pay in 24 hrs, Told them again could not pay till Fri. Then was told I could not be seen. So I left, a few days later they send me a pill saying I did not show up for my appointment so i owed them 50 dollars. Think anyone who considers going here should think again about it. read more

The doctors are good listeners, knowledgeable and patient. In the area of prescriptions, it may take a little while to get your prescription so be prepared to wait.... Waiting also applies to appointments...... But Altogether, the practice has fabulous doctors... read more

Dr. Jablow has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced from a physician. The support staff were always very efficient, if a bit cold. I was a patient there for years simply for the convenience - location near my house - and the fact that they will see you 7 days a week. Recently, I received a certified letter from them stating they were dropping me as a patient due to an excessive amount of cancellations. For the record, I never cancelled, I always postponed. And I was always courteous and called well in advance of the 24 hour window for cancellations. The fact that I was dropped without any prior notice scalds me! Very unprofessional. read more

I am writing this as five stars because this clinic is great for the community: bilingual, open long hours, easy to get in. They are great with kids too. There is a mixture of races, socio economic levels too. The down side is the doctors do overbook, but I don't mind since I can always get a same day appointment. read more

Hillside Family Community health center is a family practice in the Coastal medical group. I've read a lot of negative reviews but personally I've had an overall good experience with their medical practice so far. I had a really great NP but unfortunately she left the practice about a year ago and so I recently was introduced to my new PCP who is also a nurse practitioner (I prefer female doctors). I don't usually need to go to my doctor's office too often but when I've gone for my yearly physical, the staff has always been friendly and professional. I haven't been kept waiting too long after my scheduled appointment time and the check in process has been fast and efficient. I will update if things change but so far I haven't had any issues and am happy to have a good primary care physician that is so close to my home. read more

I was a patient at Hillside for about 10 years. I finally left in the fall of 2014. I left primarily because of the staff's incompetence-something about which I'd complained many times to my own doctor and to the practice manager. My doctor, Kenneth Sperber, was wonderful. He was fabulous in his dedication to my own medical care and his insistence on making sure he was aware of what other doctors were doing in my treatment was stellar. I had started with Dr. Michael Klein, who was as dedicated. However, the staff ruined it all. Repeated instances of lost paperwork-which once resulted in my losing TDI benefits for 6 weeks (and as a single person I had no other income)-was a major issue. Billing me for missed appointments-when I never missed any appointments without first notifying the office as far ahead as I could. Billing me for tests I never were given. All of this finally prompted me, reluctantly (because I loved my doctor), to move to another practice. I applauded that they were a family medicine practice that opened its doors to everyone in the community. But perhaps they got too big for their britches. Or just never mastered the art of hiring adequate staff. By the way, I also concur in one of the other reviewers' opinion about Barbara Jablow. I had the misfortune of seeing her once, after being released from the hospital after a near fatal asthma attack. I had caught a cold which was turning into bronchitis, and I was scared that this would develop into another hospital stay. She laughed at my fears and would not prescribe proper medication because she felt I was malingering. I called my regular doctor (Dr. Klein at that time) and he immediately prescribed what I needed and said he would talk to Jablow. read more

This practice is amazing. I have been at patient here for I believe 22 years. The staff is wonderful, my physician is great. I never have to wait long to be seen. They have late night appointments and weekend appointments if you are not feeling well. They are on top of the patient portal and I've never waited more than a day for a refill request or an answer to a question I had with my physician. My entire household comes here and we are all satisfied. read more

Unlike many of the complaints, I've never had any problems with long waiting periods - if that was my only complaint, this probably wouldn't be a 1-star review. I was first scheduled for a consultation with a woman who was about to leave the practice - you could tell she was totally checked out. I sat with her for about 10 minutes and felt like she wasn't listening to anything I was saying. And I was right - she wasn't listening. For my next appointment (with a woman who was equally aloof/rude) I found out the last woman incorrectly wrote down a very specific diagnosis I told her about and got 3 of my prescriptions and dosages wrong. I was charged $130 out-of-pocket for this "consultation." My insurance company was also charged for a vaccination I never received or even asked for. I just moved to the area so I am was kind of in the dark about looking for doctors. Looking for a new one now - any suggestions? read more

They are providing a badly needed service and I think they are trying their best.I have noticed improvements with their office staff manners shortly after they took a patient based survey looking for feedback on what we thought the pros and cons of their service were.Before this, some of the office staff were very rude.Time will tell if the changes stick! Also,its very obvious the Dr's are rushed and while your talking to them they are taking notes in a laptop.Your time with the Dr. is kept to a bare minimum.No eye to eye contact or total focus on what the patient is saying.The result of this multi-tasking many times is inaccurate information recorded in your file.It has happened to me a couple of times. Which leads to frustration and confusion further on in your treatment. Its obvious the major emphasis is on getting as many patients seen as possible and the patient suffers as a result.Lastly the Dr's are nice and seem to be trying their best.It's probably the system that needs some tweaking. I have been going to Hillside for over two years.If I had health insurance or was in a better financial situation I would not go there.It looks like my only choice at the moment. read more

I have been a patient at Hillside for quite a long time. Unlike others, I cannot complain about MY doctor (others in this facility, most definitely, but not mine). I've always found her to be attentive & doesn't ever make me feel rushed or that I'm just a number. However, I find the support staff here extremely lacking. When you call, their system states your call is being routed to a staff member who will always strive to be friendly & courteous, and help you with a smile every time. YEAH RIGHT! They are mostly unhelpful & have been downright rude. If you get one of those "helpful, friendly, courteous, smiling" people, it's a rarity & they don't last. They don't know how to take messages, either that or they just don't bother giving them. Or, perhaps, their outgoing phone system isn't in working order as they never return any phone calls. I'm sure these reviews fall on deaf ears as I'm sure they couldn't really care less! read more
