Hilltop Coffee was an unexpected surprise! Located on Mallard Creek in the University area, they offer a variety of coffee options. They also have some pastry selections to go with your coffee. There is seating inside at little cafe tables or barstools along the wall. There is also patio seating outside. The service was great as well! My daughter and I enjoyed our visit here one morning. There is limited parking so you may have to park across the street in the Dunkin' Donut parking lot. Audrey is the one who took our order & she was incredibly kind & welcoming! We ordered an iced white mocha latte with egg bites & hash browns. Saw Hilltop while passing by and decided to stop in. They have a simple concept - coffees and lattes with various syrups available. Where to start? Went here based on good reviews. Went in thinking we would get egg bites and the potato rounds. Come to find out they got rid of the potato rounds. For the egg bites, we ordered, then they forgot the order. Once my wife went and asked, they got them. Didn't apologize. Then we tried them, and they were cold in the middle. Very annoying. Once we ate them, they were okay, nothing special. I got drip coffee and it was also just okay. Wasn't as hot as it could be. Wife got a vanilla latte and she said it was again, just average. We wanted a pastry but they had ZERO. On a Saturday morning. I don't know how that's even possible. We had to drive to Publix just to get something. Disappointing. As far as customer service, there isn't much. The young lady taking orders is very nice. However she isn't the most outgoing or talkative. The other two workers don't say anything and mostly just talked between themselves. Ambiance was okay. The place is very small so not tons of places to sit. I love to have other coffee options other than the large chain shops. It's kind of hard to see from the main road. It's located/situated in an awkward corner of the road. I don't care for the parking lot. I can see turning in being a nightmare because of the corner lot being so close to the main road. There are maybe about 8-10 tight parking spots. I can imagine if they are all full people will keep driving I walked in and was greeted nicely. I ordered the hot Chai with caramel, it was really good. It's small and cozy inside. But I've been hearing good things about this black-owned coffee shop so I had to check it out. Really cool vibe. Small shop but the space is maximized with some table top seating, there was a group of four meeting in there when I came in at a table, a little nook for two people to sit with a small end table and a completely separate room in the back with more seating. Very lean, stylish decor and furnishings. All coffee and tea for beverages. A few pastries averaging $5. Gender neutral bathroom. Parking approriate and sufficient for the space. Yep, I'll be back. Great place! Initially I thought I'd be there awhile since I only saw one barista, three of us at the counter and more customers arriving. This was not the case. A second than a third appeared. The atmosphere was calm and I loved the inside of the building! However we did get a wrong drink (wanted a matcha but got a latte instead) it was still really good. We also asked for a chocolate croissant and got a regular (still good). Service was fast. Very clean! I stopped here with my family on a whim while headed to a conference. We are from Texas and have pretty high standards for coffee so all of the Starbucks locations in town are not an option. We walked into Hilltop coffee with no expectations and were greeted by the two young baristas. They answered our coffee questions and were very cooperative to help us decide. One of the owners then walked out from the back and she was very polite and had excellent customer service. The other owner (her husband) then walked out and personally introduced himself and also showed excellent hospitality. I'll probably never go back. They started off great, then one day the barista poured way too much cinnamon in my coffee and I asked them to remake it. I left a review and spoke with the owner or manager. Thought the conversation went well but everytime I came back it's been an eerie/hostile vibe in there. Last time I came in no one greeted me. This place is way too new to drop the ball on customer service. I've now been thrice. As someone who will consume practically any espresso-based beverage, I like what is served; however, whatever roast or bean they're using for the espresso...let's just say it is unique and I've been told by others (that I've purchased for) that they're not a fan of it. I can understand what they're saying. Most recently, I had a cappuccino and ordered my friend à caffe latte. No sugar, no flavors, no sweeteners. So one can definitely taste the espresso. Its flavor is unique. I liked it, but I've also tried so many different espressos and appreciate the uniqueness. Also - the chocolate croissants are magnificent! You should try one (if any are left!!!). Lastly, two of the three visits - the lot was full. Luckily, I arrived as patrons were leaving, but the people behind me either parked behind the dumpster and blocked handicapped spots or parked in the area between the handicapped spots (which is designated for loading and unloading - no parking). I'd advise parking across the street in the parking lot that's located there - as the road adjacent is a shortcut and people tend to speed and not pay attention while driving on it. I've been twice this week to try something different for a thorough review. The first time I ordered a White Chocolate Lavender Latte with Oat Milk and the second time (while I thought I was going to change it up, I really didn't lol) I got an Iced White Chocolate Caramel Latte. They were both delicious. I'm excited to have another option in this general area other than Starbucks. If you're on Mallard Creek, you have to go 5-10 minutes out to get to anything that's not a Starbucks so it's good to have something different. The menu is a little small, but they're new and it has the necessities so I think it's just fine. However, if you're someone wanting a wider variety, you may be slightly turned off by the menu. I did have a Jalapeño Cheddar scone that I waited an hour to eat because I got busy. However , although it was cold when I ate it, it was still good lol. This is a smaller coffee shop but they do have outdoor / patio seating with umbrella covers so that's a plus. read more

I'm excited to know this gem is within walking distance so I can grab my laptop and sip coffee while working without having to get in my car. Imma start with the good , the place has plenty of parking spots, the ambiance is good, cute little coffee shop.... I stopped by with my mother about two weeks ago we order two lattes and one of each pastry they had because we wanna try everything minus the muffins, we got everything to go and this part is where everything started going down south... I asked the cashier to NOT warm up the pastries, then this woman who I assume it was the owner came behind the bar and messing up things, she took our pastries to the back and was warming up everything, the barista would not survive in a busy day, she literally took 7 business days to make two lattes then I see that she put the lattes in the counter so I went and ask her if those were mine they said no this is not yours at the same time the owner came with the warmed up pastries which I asked to no do , then in those two seconds everything was caos the owner refused to give me the pastries and was about to give it to them to some white lady that was behind us, the coffees that "was not ours" turn to be our lattes that to this point are not hot enough, when they finally decided to give the pastries we paid for I checked and the order is wrong there is a muffin there and not the croissant and I was missing a scone .... I'm definitely not coming back, what bother me the most was the owner refusing to give us the pastries that we paid for. read more
