Spencer is the bomb! We took a group of teens to his shop in order to learn about making ice cream. His patience and kindness are like no other. I don't know about you, but me personally, I like to to give my business to "good people". Spencer is the real deal! Did I mention the ice cream is superior to anything purchased in a store? Everything about this was just right. A good combination of classic and unusual ice cream flavors, all executed flawlessly, with a super creamy texture. I just love this place! The staff is usually teens and they are fantastic. The coffee Oreo ice cream is just the best and I buy it by the pint so that I have it at home as well. Hilltop Icecream is nextdoor to Whistle Hop Brewery. It is just a short walk through a parking lot basically. We stopped by after some beverages at Whistle Hop. I ordered a scoop of Coconut Joy and a scoop of Strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone. The ice cream was good, I mean it is ice cream, but I would not call it amazing. I of course finished all of mine, but I was not Wow'ed. I also had this feeling that the owners of Hilltop Icecream vote a certain way and let's just say, I will be voting the exact opposite way in November 2020. One of my main food groups is ice cream and I am shocked I have never heard of hilltop in Fairview! I was passing through on a Sunday afternoon and searched if there was any local ice cream shops and came across hilltop! They are only open spring and summer but the owner told me they are in high demand and I can see why! It's small with limited in door seating but great tables outside. It is truly up on a hill with a few tables and benches. On to the flavors, they are incredible. Nothing too wild, but done really well. I think she featured about 12. I got blueberry, lemon cheesecake (wow) and my partner got chocolate and salted caramel. The servings are anything but stingy. They're scoops are what a double scoop would be anywhere else. The ice cream was incredibly creamy and flavorful. I already am dreaming of going back. read more

Such a cute little shop, fittingly on top of the hill. Pretty wide selection of choices ranging anywhere from kid's birthday cake to cherry goat cheese to a classic strawberry. Decent prices especially for the amount you get - they'll even give your dogs a pup-sundae complete with a treat on top which I loved. Although I was disappointed that they did not have plain coffee ice cream, I opted for a 2 scoop sundae with strawberry and butter pecan ice cream. The homemade hot fudge was the best I have ever had and I was thrilled to learn that they have wet walnuts!!!! I sat outside , viewing the mountains while I devoured the sundae. For a little over $4 you get two huge scoops of the densist impossibly creamy ice cream--to die for. My kids and I stopped in before lunch. I had dreamsicle (orange creamsicle) and maple walnut while my kids had cotton candy; salted caramel, mint chip and a dreamsicle reprise. The flavors were delicious. What a find, creative flavors, rich and creamy, made on site, ice cream. The owner is a very funny woman who took over the equipment from an ice cream store that went belly up. The Cherry Goat Cheese is fantastic and as far as I know unique (and I have tried lots of ice cream places around the country). Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake, Orange Pineapple, and Lemon are other favorites we enjoy regularly. We recently had a dinner party and served three half gallon containers of Hilltop, guests were very impressed. This ice cream is the best in the area, and we have eaten all the local varieties.
