I brought in a variety of estate jewelry- primarily small pieces, earrings and pendants. I was told all of it was fake maybe gold fill. I was about to scrap the items or toss them in a bag to sell for $5 bucks, but I had the sense to take them to two other places for verification. A few pieces came back as 18k and 14k. Although they might pay a little higher, this place can cost you hundreds by telling you your items aren't authentic. I would've appreciated if they said the items were too lightweight for them to purchase or if they had another reason, but to outright say that they have no gold content is horrible. You would think because they use an XRF machine their word is infallible, but the two other places I went use XRF too and they even showed me the results and gold content. I was in disbelief! Now I'm left to wonder if I've tossed out authentic gold in the past after visiting this place. Truly awful! BEWARE selling here, it could be costly Edited to reply to the butthurt owner: Saying children need to be leashed goes to show how classless you are as an owner. Buyers take note, don't bring your children. My kids were sitting minding their business, not running around. Furthermore, they weren't present for our last meeting. If 18kt is low karat gold, then so be it! Keep showing your character by replying with insults when you're called out for lying!

But when I came in today, right from the start Ed treated me so badly that even customers near me were like, "What is wrong with that guy?!". When I asked a couple of questions such as what the percentage was that they paid under spot, every single time he responded in the most unbelievably insulting tone. Then as he turned to walk away he mumbled, "I'm going to have to go AA"!! Good Lord! I get that when it's busy sometimes things can be stressful, that's perfectly understandable. But there's absolutely no reason to mistreat people like that. If an employee can't be polite and respectful to customers coming in to your business establishment, then perhaps they should find another line of work, or maybe think about retiring.

When I told her that I had a battery done recently and that my watch was still losing time, she said that my watch was not worth a new movement, which costs about $125 to $150. I explained that the watch was worth more than that, and had sentimental value and that I had no problem spending the money. She then proceeded to tell me that the watch was running on time and wasn't broken. I explained that I had just reset it in the car before walking in, and she then said that the watch person was not going to get to me for at least 10 days because "there are other people in front of you". I felt like she didn't want my money or business. I purposefully went into a small, privately-owned establishment rather than a chain store, but I feel that I would have had better service and better luck somewhere else. She then walked away while I was in mid-sentence to answer the phone and proceeded to ignore me. If the owner reads these, I would hope he would take away the following three points: 1. As the customer, it is up to me to establish what I am willing to invest in my pieces. It is not up to the clerk to establish what it is "worth". "Worth" is a subjective term. 2. Ignoring a customer and then reluctantly admitting them into the store 3 hours before closing does not leave a good impression. 3. Jewelry is an emotional, relational industry. There was no attempt to establish rapport, welcome me into the store, or in any way make me feel that my business was valued. In fact, my presence was treated as an annoyance and inconvenience. From the 2 locked doors, and the "Rob someone else" sign and the "if we are busy you'll have to make an appointment or wait sign", to the lack of welcome or even a simple hello, it seems like clients are an unwelcome presence. However, based on the giant "We buy Gold" signs, their money certainly is welcome. Perhaps you could just put out a collection plate or hire a robot since personal interactions are not something you are willing to invest in order to gain business.
