As a French native, I was shocked when an employee incorrectly insisted that Pave d'Affinois is just called a Brie. Wegmans charges premium prices, but between the rotting produce, negligent deli slicing, and untrained staff, the value is simply not there anymore. Management needs to fix these issues immediately.

We ended up getting the crudo, which was a tuna poke; lobster roll; clam sandwich; potatoes and salad, plus a bottle of Sauvignon blanc. Everything tasted great and was clearly masterfully prepared so the seafood was the star. All in our bill was around $90, totally reasonable for what we got. On the way out we bought more food to have at home. Fish stew and pimento cheese and another seafood soup. We work from home and are super close and HUGE fans of seafood, and the prepared foods they have is reasonably priced and fresh, so when we don't eat at the counter, we will take something home. The market is a short 5-6 minute drive from Lexington, and even closer to Buena Vista. First Catch recieves seafood in small quantities, 3x/week, so pre-ordering is definitely a good idea. That said, I walked in and had no problem getting 1lb of beautiful Texas pink shrimp. From market to grill, the time lapse was only 30 minutes- that's convenient! The shrimp had good texture and natural taste, and were no doubt as fresh as could be. I definitely reccomend First Catch Seafood Market to anybody who has a legitimate taste for fresh seafood. Having lived 3 months of every year for the past 5 years on the coast of North Carolina, I consider myself a well-versed seafoodie. You won't find any S.E. Asian farmed seafood here- and that's a good thing. Bypass Kroger, Food-Lion, or wherever you shop normally and definitely make the trek to First Catch for any seafood need- it won't let you down (just make sure to call ahead and verify if they have what you're looking for/pre-order if necessary)!
