This was my second time at this hotel in the last 5 years. I came for work and was upgraded to a suite, which was actually two bedrooms put together. It was a bit extra since I was staying there alone and was there for work, I just needed a bed and a bathroom. I chose the Hilton over the Marriott because of the Starbucks and proximity to my event in the GRB. This hotel needs a major facelift. The lobby is cute but does not match the rooms. The rooms are so full and look like they need a good, hard scrub, or just new furniture. My room was right by the elevator which is nice when I have to rush to work or rush to bed, but the hallways notice was not it. During my stay, the hotel hosted two religious retreats, plus the event I was in town for, so I knew there would be noice. However, it was unacceptable when one of the religious groups decided to host a closing session at 8am on a Sunday directly in front of my room. My one day to sleep in, ruined by doors banding, and a session happening directly in front of my door. I flagged this to security, but the joins continued and I couldn't got back to sleep. They quality of service was not it, and no one followed up to check in on me. read more

HIlton Americas is located downtown and from the looks of it as you drive up it you think, "Wow, this place needs a facelift!" Valet parking is available but with the messy construction and traffic delays you're better off finding a parking garage...anywhere else. Walking in you'll find a gorgeous updating modern lobby. We were here for the Space Gala so we took the elevator to the Grand Ballroom. Food was delicious and banquet servers were gracious. The reception area and ballroom were huge and there was plenty of room. Our event was spectacular! Gene Cernan, my favorite astronaut, was on hand, so was Commander Mark Kelly and Chuck Norris was a speaker too! Another highlight of our evening? The best band in the world was performing for us! This Hilton is eye-catching in many ways, like when Magneto first saw the Statute of Liberty in 1949. The exterior grabs your attention from the first point you can pick it out from the highway set amidst the sea of plain Jane downtown buildings in the immediate area. I was even on a lousy-superbad date at Josephine's when that slice of downtown awesomeness was still around and failing to talk about anything more engaging, my lousy date turned the conversation towards what Paris Hilton would have thought about the design - hot or not? I have been to some of the big noisy convention type of stuff in the ballrooms over the years. I actually stayed here in the hotel when I was taking the Texas bar exam back in 'ye olden days next door at George R. Brown. The hotel is pretty hotel-like. The room has enough space to move around in comfortably although if you brought a stack of books in with you, counter-space disappears pretty quickly and soon enough you will be using the bed and trying to orchestrate a delicate swan dance of a cup of coffee, a take-out container, and an armada of highlighters on a shaky, uncertain surface. It was fun. The ballrooms are really nice. They have unique accents/lights/fun cool flashy things. The front desk staff is friendly. I walked up to the counter to check in trying to juggle a bunch of bags and books. I suppose they were used to seeing that though. The parking is plentiful at the attached garage and you take the skyway ramp over so you get some shelter from the rain, were it raining. The coffeeshop downstairs is overpriced but at least its convenient. Plus you can just walk to other stuff if you have time. Worst thing about the experience: see my attached photo. Two engineers walk into a bar... wish I knew how to tell a funny joke, but it isn't one of my meager talents. Actually my company took over this hotel for a recent meeting, so it was wall to wall engineers, sales people and corporate flunkies. My kind of people! In fact the meeting was so large we pretty much had the place to ourselves. A mild disappointment since we've had some funny combos in the past. Last year it was the Mary Kay ladies (I kept saying to myself, thank god I didn't pack a black suit) and the year before that it was a mini-cheerleading competition in another Texas locale. Since we were running the show we even had our own cocktail at the bar. For the low (?!?) price of $14 you could have our alcoholic/Red Bull concoction. Think I'll pass. There was a lot I like about this hotel. The lobby, bars and meeting rooms were very nice. My bed was really comfortable and the room and bath were fine. My female co-worker (yes, we had to share) and I even had a nice view from the 18th floor and we didn't hear our neighbors. Check-in and check-out were quick and they were flexible when I ran up at 12:00p to get a late check out because I completely lost track of time. Listening to technical presentations on five hours of sleep will do that to you. Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to use the gym or pool, but they looked very good on the web site. What wasn't so nice was the IT situation. My co-worker had been to several hotels in the last month both in the U.S. and abroad and commented it was the worst web access she'd seen from your room. We also had similar issues in the meeting areas where our internal IT folks had tried to set up wireless cafes for our use. Also, the location just isn't that great. That part of Houston just seemed deserted, with lots of construction, and we had been warned it wasn't safe to walk around alone, which is really too bad. I would have enjoyed stretching my legs in between meetings. I thought the food and beverage service were good as well, although it seemed that you had to always hunt to get a good old fashioned water. So once you were inside the hotel it was fine, but I always prefer a property where you can get out and see more of the city while you are there. read more

The lobby bar is so accommodating far beyond there job description especially Jason and Nishia. Staying at Hilton America downtown. Was awaken by loud bar music at 1:30 yesterday morning from somewhere downtown outside hotel. Spoke with hotel staff this morning in elevator. Every guest was complaining . 11.30 Friday night same load music. Called guest services and was told they could not do anything. Friday night in Houston (basically deal with it). For the rates they are charging I recommend never staying at the hotel .I'm pretty sure that Hilton generates more sales tax revenue for Houston than some bar catering to low life's. read more

This is strictly a review for their catering/convention/conference food. The first night we had Chicken Breast atop a "stuffing" slice, with carrots and creamed spinach. The chicken was cold, the sauce on top of the chicken was good (marinara), the "stuffing" was essentially bread pudding but stale and chewy, and the carrots were practically raw they were so crunchy. As far as catering food is concerned I would rate this a 2 out of 10. I thank the LORD I ate at Pappasito's prior. The last evening we had salmon, steak, prawns and some mashed potato. It was decent! Surprisingly... with a crowd of 3,000 attendee's you would expect some issues but I was very pleasantly surprised. Lastly, I didn't like how they brought out a bread basket and made us choose which bread we'd like. Put the basket on the table and leave it there. Maybe we'd like more than one... I know I would ;). Desserts were OK. The only gripe I would have is that if there is BOOZE in the desserts you need to let people know. There were a lot of "sober" folks at the event and they accidently broke their sobriety with a mouth full of un-cooked booze soaked cherries. It was really difficult to swallow - and I like boozey things. read more

When I arrived, I was nervous I wouldn't get my room because I went during a convention with over 3,000 people and there!! Luckily I checked in before I arrived via the app on my phone! (TIP ) I was also greeted by a beautiful dark skinned girl who was extremely professional and extremely nice! She was able to let me check in early as well! My flight arrived at 8 am but check in is not until 3. I had a ton of luggage so I was ever so grateful when she told me my room was available at 12! (Guess a Hilton honors perk?) When I got to school he room there were slippers in a plastic bag and water waiting for me. I feared I would be charged extra for using them so I called to the front desk to ask and was GREETED by NAME when they answered! I was literally blown away! They told me that the items were included for free! And also asked if I wanted another?! I was on the executive floor so I went up to enjoy the beautiful pool and spa and sauna and exercise room (which btw has free headphones, cooling towels and a ton of equipment with AMAZING views of downtown! ) executive floors also get free breakfast, lunch and hors d'oeuvres. TIP) one thing I wish I learned my first day there was the malls are literally a couple of blocks away and you can walk underground to a lot of restaurants and MORE shopping!! So really no need to move your car from the parking garage! So amazing! Amazing stay overall! Stayed for 5 days! Would love to go back! read more

To be in 2024 and still have racism still amazes me. I brought my aunt here Friday, Good Friday for a relaxing spa day and was met by Diego who was extremely racist towards me. I asked to check in for the spa that I purchased through Resort pass and right in front of me he picked up the phone and called someone saying he didnt.want us to have access to the hotel. They concluded we would be escorted up to the 23 floor by security. Once we arrived to the top no one was there and security told us to wait someone would help. A short time later a really nice young lady Bri appeared and started to check us in. She asked we would use our key cards to access to pool and roof. I advised he had no key card and was escorted by security which i.thoufht was weird and she said this has not.been there policy. She was unsure why they didn't provide a card and for this to happen by the manager Diego was even stranger. I looked at Britney and said it.is only because of the color of our skin. I plan to investigate this further with legal counsel but anyhow just don't go here. My expirence in the spa was limited as it was full of kids and we had to climb the stairs eventhough we have mobility issues and was denied the elevator. read more

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago for the big Comicpalooza event next door at the George R Brown. Hiltons usually are top notch in every way. This hotel was good, but lacking in a few areas. I paid extra to stay on one of the upper floors with access to the lounge, pool, and spa on the top floor. The refrigerator in the room was the smallest fridge I've ever seen in my life. And, the stupid thing did not work at all. There was no ice machine on the floor. I had to go down two floors only to find a broken ice machine. Down another floor to find another machine that spits out a 50/50 combination of ice and water. The lounge offered a free buffet from 5 - 7pm. All the food would have been good, but it was all stale. I think it was lunch leftovers. Gee, thanks. $8 beers and $11 mixed drinks. Food was the same stale selection for the next two days. I paid extra for this? I went into the Pappasitos Cantina on the first floor one night only to see it was filled with obnoxious, loud, ghetto people. The positives were a nice, immaculate room, friendly staff, nice bed, and a nice view. I was expecting a four star experience, but I have to give it a three. All in all, I would probably stay here again if the price was right. read more

I went to the restaurant and it was also closed for a private party. I went down for breakfast and was closed for a private function. I'm usually out by 9 am so I never use the do not disturb sign. As a longtime Hilton Honors member, I have been enjoying its free wifi service, however, every night during my 5-night stay, the free wifi had issues connecting. For some reason, there is always a strong nasty smell in the lobby area close to the elevators on the restaurant side, and a strong cooking smoke smell on the 3rd floor. The decor style is confusing. You see traditional furniture & light fixtures. You also see modern chandeliers & paintings. Location wise, it's next to the NBA stadium, so if you are looking for a quiet night, it is hard to get. But, there are lots of restaurants close by within walking distance. read more

I typically never leave a review only because I understand that the business itself is not always responsible for the employees service. The hotel itself was great and the front desk team was great! my complaint is on the valet service they contract. We were only there for 1 night and we didn't use our car during the stay. When we arrived we did valet and of course they check for any damage which there was none. My car is brand new and I've only had it for 2 months. When we checked out the next day the valet brought our car and immediately I noticed the da mage to the back passenger panel. We went through all the right channels and filled out the claim report. We even waited 30 minutes for the valet Supervisor to arrive and speak with us. My husband did report it to the hotel just to be safe. They assured me it would be handled appropriately . Well this morning the claims department called me to let me know they were not liable for the damage. I'm very upset by this. I did call the valet manager and hotel manager to express my concerns but unfortunately they were unwilling to listen to my concerns. At this point I will have to pay for the damage the valet service has done to my vehicle. I'm very disappointed in the response of both the hotel and valet managers. Just be aware and maybe take pictures before and after using the valet service. During the process I was very understanding just to be disappointed. read more

This hotel sits in the middle of downtown Houston. Right across the street from the convention center, a block away from the Honda Center (Houston Rockets play) and 5 blocks from Minute Maid Park (Houston Astros play). When you walk in, it feels different than any other hotel. You see this gold map of the world that sits above the center bar in the hotel lobby. You can see from one end of the lobby to the other which is rare. If you're lucky enough to get a room w/ a view it'll either by of the park across the street and also minute maid park. If not you'll be looking directly at the Honda Center. The rooms come w/ the standard shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bar of soap and everything else you would think of while staying at a Hilton property, including a fridge. They do have the option of going green here, but not in the same sense you would find at other Hilton properties. Instead of earning points/money for going green while you're helping the environment, you're simply saying you don't want a paper bill at the end of your stay and that you don't want your linens changed every day. Their gym is larger than most and has plenty of equipment to get your sweat on. The executive lounge offers a typical breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, pastries, bagels, snack bars, juices, etc. In the evenings it offers appetizers of various types, along w/ cookies. Access allows you to complimentary bottles of water and sodas. They do have a bar that is billed to your room. Always thoroughly enjoy my stays here because of the service, food and comfort. read more

I came to Houston for a quick business trip and I only had about 24 hours but this hotel was absolutely amazing. The holiday decor was great and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The onsite starbucks was on point and I even took advantage of the on-site spa. It was a bit pricey but trust me.. it was well worth it. My wife and I spent this past weekend at the Hilton Americas while attending a convention. The hotel is very nice and modern and is connected to the George Brown Convention Center via a walkway. The hotel is modern with very nice amenities. The tv in the room is huge and it has a keyless entry feature where you can use your cell phone to open the door. The breakfast buffet was very good although I wish there was a waffle station rather than the pre-made waffles. There is also a Pappasito's that is attached to the hotel. read more

We stayed at the Hilton Americas for one night for Hubby's 50th Birthday. Wanting to do it up right, I booked an executive level king room. The room was great-large, with a nice city view. The Executive Lounge was nice-the snacks, sodas, and continental breakfast with decent coffee was good to have, but the wine prices were really high. One really nice touch-they delivered a tray of wine and snacks along with a hand written birthday card. Very classy. This hotel is not cheap, but was perfect for our special occasion. read more

I was upgraded to a large suite on one of the executive levels. Service was great and staff was friendly. The executive lounge offers beverages and snacks throughout the day with a continental breakfast and evening appetizer buffet. Access to the health club is included which is better than most hotel gyms! I wish I would have had more time to explore as it seems like there are some great shopping and restaurants within walking distance. read more

Well, it's a hotel and it's connected to the convention center. The FedEx Office and lobby Starbucks are convenient, but not what you'd call "amenities." There seems to be no in-room dining (aka "room service "), due to the pandemic, and the lobby restaurants have hours that are indecipherable. If you have any sort of Hilton Honors status, don't expect special treatment or even for them to offer any upgrade of any sort. At this Hilton, no upgrades (including high floor rooms) are offered to members with status. They're only available for an added fee (just $15 extra a night for a high floor! Only $50 for early check-in!). For most travelers, this probably doesn't matter, but for business travelers who have gold or diamond status, it's a bummer not to get any perks of any kind. As for the rooms, they're somewhat clean (if you ignore the burn marks on the carpet and the mystery stains on the bathroom walls), have comfortable Hilton beds, and enough space to store your clothes. The staff are pleasant and the proximity to the convention center and several local breweries is nice. read more

Highly recommend getting drinks their vs the Hotel as the hotel bar can be pretty pricey. If you plan on eating breakfast at the hotel, plan on a price off $22 a person for their buffet? Wow!!! I hear you can get it for $18 if you tell them you would like breakfast upon checkin, but once you have checked in, this option is off the table. The room and bathroom seemed a little stuffy and had the moldy smell and since to them... I think they need to air the rooms out. The beds were very comfortable. Valet Parking is $36/night or you can self Park for $25/night which can be a long walk depending on what side of the hotel you are on. read more
