This was a really fun hotel to stay at! It has a great location, friendly staff, and I loved its aesthetic as well, with the grand staircase in the lobby, and then the purple color scheme in the hallways and rooms. I would definitely recommend staying here if you need a place to stay in Charlotte!

Gatsby New Year's Eve House Party!
    Evelyn H.

This was the best New Year's Eve party ever, but I have to say the topper was the next morning. I, as I'm sure many party goers, was in desperate need of Alka Seltzer. I went to use the lobby vending machine and it did not recognize my phone number. I went to the desk to have Sarah check my phone number, only to learn there was no phone on file for me. She updated that and I went to make another attempt. Still no go. I went back to ask where is the nearest pharmacy and amped out in the cold before it dawned on me that today is New Year's day and nothing is open. I went back to ask Sarah to recheck that she entered my phone correctly. She patiently checked that, then went to the vending machine with me to assist. Sarah was very patient with me and such a pleasure to interact with. This type of customer service has escaped so many hotels, and it was great to see it was not lost here. She is an asset to this hotel. The Ritz-Carlton Uptown could use more people like Hilton's Sarah, but that's a whole-nother review that I need to fasten my seat belt and write

I had a free night certificate that was expiring and so here we are on a weekend night. Warmly welcomed at the front desk and my Hilton Diamond status was recognized. I was thanked for my business and provided two key cards. I also was provided a voucher towards breakfast (not enough to cover it, thanks). The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I don't believe that I got any sort of comped upgrade, just what I reserved with the certificate. The executive lounge is nice but there was nothing there other than a few bags of chips and a fridge with soft drinks. Definite disappointment. Parking here is not cheap. $34 for valet parking or $24 for self parking. That's... wow. Check a parking app for nearby lots that are cheaper. Overall, just "OK." I've stayed in many Hilton properties. There are better. [Review 18069 overall - 3318 in North Carolina - 1591 of 2022.]

Very nice, clean upscale hotel. The staff were friendly. Interacted with Sam the valet who was perfect and welcoming as the face of the hotel. Front desk was efficient, I do wish they would have given us more information about the hotel. For instance had no idea how to order room service and had to locate the restaurant/bar on our own. Picture on the booking site show a pool but I have no idea if it exists. And apparently you can access the YMCA but again this information wasn't shared with us. The room was clean and sufficient for our stay. Housekeeping is on request for short stays which was fine by me. The hotel seems to be in the heart of the city and within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions including Bank of America Stadium. We ate dinner a breakfast (buffet style) at the hotel. Pleased with both experiences.

Upon or arrival it was easy to find the parking garage right next to the main entrance. When you pull in you can go straight to self park or turn left and get valet parking. We chose o self park seeing the sign that it was $10 on weekends. Parking was easy as the garage was fairly empty. Following the signs, we took an elevator and one flight of stairs to reach the front desk. Check in was quick and easy, but this was where we were told breakfast was not included in our stay. Not the biggest deal, probably my fault I didn't make sure it was while booking the hotel. But then the receptionist told me parking was actually $20 for our one night stay which was slightly annoying seeing as the sign out front said $10. They put a $50 incidental charge on my card and told me my parking fee would come out of it. We were placed in a room on the 16th floor, which we kind of had to assume because they only gave us a room number that started with 16 and didn't specify the floor number. When we found our room I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't impressed either. I expected a decent view being in the 16th floor but it was just the roof of an adjacent building. The bathroom did not have a lock on the door and the latch could be moved so the door would be able to be just pushed open when closed without touching the handle. When scrolling through the TV channels it appeared that a lot of the ones I had selected were not included in the hotels cable package. The night was the worst part for me. The in room thermostat seemed to be just for show as when we arrived back from our event that night it was very hot. We changed the thermostat from 70 degrees to 60 in hopes of cooling the room off quick. It didn't feel like the temperature changed at all throughout the night. As if that wasn't enough, the bed was not very comfortable. It took me a few hours to finally fall asleep. It seemed like as soon as I did, the in room alarm clock started blaring even though neither of us had even touched it before then. After struggling to shut it off, I heard the alarm clocks in other nearby rooms going off for the next few minutes as well. It wasn't all bad though. The TV, although a lot of stations were inaccessible, was large and of good quality. The bathroom was rather clean and the shower was more than adequate. It had one fixed shower head and another removable shower head that was attached to a hose you could move freely. There also was a book in the room all about Charlotte and things to do there if you are not familiar with the area which o thought was a nice feature. Overall not the worst hotel experience I've had but I definitely will be trying a different hotel if I stay in Charlotte again.

Revising my review because Hilton complained about the last one. Obviously they do not want the TRUTH to come out. Here is the edited version to make it a bit more palatable, even though my visit was FAR FROM PALATABLE. Worst customer service at a Hilton in a long time. Stayed here for a few days for a football game and after the game shortly after our checkout, I needed to change my clothing and take some medicine. Ask the kid A_____ (name hidden to protect HIS privacy, you will know him when you see him the condescending attitude is very obvious) at the front desk if I could sit in the executive lounge for 30 minutes because I was overheated and needed to sit and cool off, and he told me I could just take my clothes out of my suitcase on the floor next to the front desk in the middle of the lobby or use the business center which was a desk with a computer on it in the MIDDLE OF THE LOBBY. Rude. Beyond Rude really. Wow Hilton. Don't you train your people anymore?? Clearly Diamond status means nothing to this particular franchise. Nobody even mentioned that when I checked in so maybe they do not honor status in this Hilton, who knows? Guess i should go to Marriott from now on. They treat you well, would never try to humiliate you in the lobby telling you to just take your clothes out on the FLOOR. The Young Man at the front desk is poorly trained, was downright condescending and rude, was obviously disdainful, and doesn't belong in the industry! Shame on you Hilton. Last time I checked this was the "HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY". Additionally, so they stopped giving out free breakfast. NOW, they give you a $15.00 credit for up to 2 people ONLY in your 1st room. Well the breakfast buffet is $18.00 plus tip plus tax so approximately $24.00 if you do not have a beverage with it. So now you have to pay for what was always free. Worse, they were too busy to take us the morning we left, so we could not even use the $30 credit we had. Tried to use it later they had already checked me out, so they offer the credit and then snatch it back. The "executive Lounge" is literally an empty room with a refrigerator with some soda in it, and a few jars of peanuts and bar mix. That is IT!! It is very sad and pathetic. Why even bother, it is an embarrassment to Hilton to offer that up. To sum it up I should have read the review before booking and went to the Hilton Garden Inn or maybe Ill just change to a Mariott account top tier membership. I have been to Hiltons all over the world and this ranks in the bottom 2. SHAME ON YOU HILTON. PS I have a video of the desk guy refusing to let me use the E lounge and telling me to get my other clothing out on the lobby floor. I will be sending that to Hilton Corporate.

    Terrible water pressure.

Normally when I'm in Charlotte for work I stay at the Embassy Suites Uptown. They were fully booked though, so I decided to give this hotel a shot. It seemed like a good choice at first. It's in a convenient location, they have self parking and the restaurant workers are lovely. The interior is unattractive, but it's clean and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, there are some serious issues with the property. The biggest issue is the water pressure. Or lack of water pressure, I should say because there isn't any. My coworker is staying here on a different floor and they're having the same problem. I can't get the conditioner out of my hair, so it's pretty gross after 3 days. I can't wait to check out tomorrow. The walls are paper thin. The people in the room next to me are currently having a conversation. They're not being loud or obnoxious, they're just talking, but I can hear every word as if they were sitting on my bed. There's a connecting door that the sound is carrying through so perhaps that's not an issue in other rooms, but it's pretty wild that I'm hearing them so clearly. It's not even muffled. The elevator situation leaves a lot to be desired. It feels like there's only ever one or two elevators running. It takes a long time to move through the hotel. Finally, and this might just be me being petty, this is the first Hilton I've been to that refuses to give water to their Honors members. After checking in, I was told that the hotel didn't give out water. When I pointed out that I was a gold member (something I've never once had to say at another Hilton) they said there would be two bottles in my room. I'd been to my room and there was only one so I asked for the second. The woman working at reception basically implied I was lying before reluctantly giving me a second bottle. Most Hiltons will give you water without even asking about your status, but this woman acted like I was asking for her kidney. This was a small thing, but it left a really negative impression. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Lots of dust and fuzz from an old filter

Nice location. Have stayed here many times... here again tonight and on reoccurring issue this hotel has is HOT ROOMS. The AC systems do not seem to be maintained well. My room is at least mid 70s right now... not the Hilton standard. I looked at the filter in the room and it's been a while since even that was changed. November 2021. Those should be serviced at least every 30 days. I can't imagine when the Freon was serviced. This filter is completely filthy. Room is warm. Not happy as a Lifetime Diamond Member.

Great desk for working during my stay

My wife and I ended up here unexpectedly after our flight was canceled due to an incoming snowstorm. Since the JW Marriott wasn't open during my last visit to Charlotte, I made a point to stay here during this short, unplanned stop. We arrived late on a Friday night, which didn't leave much time to explore the hotel's amenities, but the stay still left a strong impression--both good and not-so-good. The guest rooms are sleek, modern, and undeniably luxurious, with a sophisticated design that feels appropriate for a newer urban JW property. The glass shower was spacious and attractive, though oddly there was no body wash provided, and the drain was clogged--small details, but noticeable at this level. The mattress, unfortunately, was extremely firm--uncomfortably so for me--and made for a restless night. Because our luggage was still stuck at the airport, we requested several basic toiletries. Despite assurances, they never arrived. On the positive side, room service is available 24 hours, and the food was excellent--fresh, well-prepared, and delivered promptly. The Executive Lounge is also a standout: beautifully designed and offering a strong breakfast spread that made the morning far more enjoyable. Ben at the front desk the next morning deserves special mention. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely responsive in addressing the issues we experienced the night before, which helped restore some confidence in the stay. One lingering question: I don't quite understand why an urban hotel charges a Daily Destination Fee. While the fee can be offset with credits toward room service or dining, it still felt out of place for a downtown business-oriented property. I've stayed at JW Marriotts in several other cities and have consistently found their service to be a strength. That's why I was surprised that service here didn't quite meet those expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful and well-located, but smoother execution and attention to detail would bring the experience in line with the JW standard.

I was asked by Elon Law to teach a night class in Charlotte and they graciously got me a hotel at the Hilton in downtown Charlotte. Sounded great and I was excited... And then I arrived. Let's see.... There was a long line at the reception and it took quite a while till I got to the front of line to be helped. Then I was told that the rooms would not be available for 2 hours even though it was already 2 hours beyond the check-in time. No accommodation for that mishap other than the offer to leave my bags and wander around. This was awful because I had to teach in an hour! Thank God they did find a room that was ready and so I asked where I could park the car and I almost had a heart attack when she told me it was $35 to park my car. Are you freaking kidding me? The room itself was close to $200. Seriously? I don't know why I asked the next question, although I knew what the answer would be as I timidly asked, "Does this include breakfast?" Of course it doesn't. And if you want a piece of toast and a cup of coffee, that's going to cost you close to $20. This place is a freaking rip-off! I greed to pay the damn $35 and was told that if I park on the fourth floor there is a walkway right into the hotel with my room key. So I parked the car where she said and went to the door and kept swiping and swiping and swiping and could not get in. Finally, I called downstairs and they sent somebody up to let me in to only discover that they share the parking lot and access with the Hampton inn. Incredibly confusing. That's why my key did not work. So I had to take all of my stuff back down to the lobby again and find my way to the Hilton elevator. By the time that nightmare was solved, that was the end of my shower and resting and it was time to leave for teaching I came back after teaching quite hungry but I was not about to spend $150 for an M&M peanut that was for sale in the lobby. I went back to my room, had a bottle of water to only discover that they want $2. Do me a favor Hilton inn. Next time just charge us $1,000 for the night and let it include breakfast and parking. Again, I am very appreciative of Elon University putting me up for the night but next time I'm going to see if they can put me in another place. Maybe a place that charges a normal price, is not terribly confusing and actually includes breakfast and parking for the exorbitant fee. There's a second chapter to this review. and It truly proves that good customer service can mean everything! So as I was checking out the following morning, the woman at the registration named Ebony asked me the infamous, "How was your stay?" And my reply was, "Do you want the polite response or the real response?" with which she replied, "The real response, absolutely!" So I began to tell her how my room wasn't ready and I was going to have to wait 2 hours. I told her how the woman at the registration desk did not offer me anything for that delay other than I could leave my bags behind the counter. I told her how they finally found me a room but told me nothing about the Hilton gold honors I was entitled to. I told her how confusing it was in the garage to find the right way to the hotel. I told her how horrified I was about the $35 parking fee. Ebony was so sympathetic to my frustration and determined to give me top customer service, that she did not charge me for the parking and gave me a Hilton Gold perk I was entitled to and got a beautiful breakfast to go. Ebony turned everything around for me. I got a delicious omelet with wheat toast, made a hot cup of coffee, got into my car with a new attitude and traveled back to Greensboro. I still think the hotel charges too much, should not be charging for parking, should be offering a breakfast for that price and should explain how to navigate the parking lot since the dual hotels sharing the same garage. But, they also have Ebony who knows how to treat a customer! Thank you Ebony! And Hilton... Get your act together!!!

Staff is a 12 out of 10. Valet super nice and helpful, check in and front desk staff always efficient and a delight to deal with same for housekeepers or any other staff we met along the way. This is the only hotel I have stayed at in the States that I think their bathroom is about comparable to ours at home. There is a separate space for the commode which offers some nice privacy if 2 are sharing the room. Housekeepers were adorable they placed out toiletries on emerald green cloths on the counter I truly believe the prettiest place in Charlotte to see the sun rise is at the indoor pool and spa area. It is gorgeous. Love that the pool area is more spa pool vibes with spa music. Hot tub is turned on by a button panel on the wall. Inside the hot tub there is a place to turn up or down the intensity of the jets. The hot tub has pretty colors in it from the underwater lighting. There is a great array of seating without feeling crowded. Meticulously cleaned. Like any time of day the indoor pool space was clean. I do like what they use instead of chlorine it was more gentle on my hair and skin. TV is a bit below average. Streaming speed is pretty slow. Limited on which streaming services that can be accessed. Additionally, the volume jumps a lot like the tv can be unable to be heard you turn the volume up and it is good. Then a second later it is super loud. Spouse said most modern tvs have an auto feature that manages this. But this is on Marriott and not the hotel as with some research it showed this is a pretty common issue most folks have about the tvs. We are buying a Roku stick to try and use in the future to access other streaming services we pay for at home. The beds are better than other hotels in the Marriott family but spouse and I still find them a bit uncomfortable. I would like to have them a more memory foam material than the spring with pillow top. Wardrobe was awesome it is a nice size. Lights up when the doors are opened and has a pretty floral scape along the back of it. I was able to keep my carry on sized suitcase in there. Spouse was able to hand my dress and his sports coat and pants for event we were going to. Room had plenty of counter space in the room and bathroom. This was great. Oddly there seemed to be drums that started playing outside at like 9am on Saturday that woke us both up. There was a wedding going on that weekend and I know they had some breakfasts not sure if there was maybe a morning ceremony too? Noise didn't last super long but woke us both up. The windows you can hear a fair amount of noise through from the street. Ordered room service I think 3 times. Very excellent experience each and every time. Each item was cooked perfectly and things like grilled chicken breast were still juicy and not overcooked. My K Lounge review will be separate from hotel but same 5/5. We enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, that excitement slowly faded as the day went on. When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk. We waited about 5-10 minutes before anyone checked us in. I mentioned it was our first visit so we opted for a full tour, but the welcome felt rushed and incomplete. We also noticed other guests being offered drinks upon arrival nothing was offered to us. We headed to the Aqua Lounge to relax and decided to order food. There was no staff in sight, so I eventually walked downstairs to place the order myself. The food was underwhelming, and it took 40 minutes for a turkey BLT, no napkins, it was an overall poor experience. We wanted to enjoy the hot tub but the jets were broken. You'd think everything would be fully functional in a hotel/spa of this caliber. I don't mind paying an automatic service charge when service is actually provided, but that wasn't the case here. I find that staff is less likely to care when the gratuity is automatic, which held true at this spa. The spa itself is beautiful, serene, and well designed. Our technicians, Renata and Kieyan, were professional, warm, and truly the highlight of the entire visit. If I were rating solely based on them, it would be a full five stars. If you're only looking for a great massage, I'd recommend this spa. If you're seeking a full luxury spa experience, go elsewhere.

I got the accessible room because it had a separate sleeping room so it was a one bedroom with the living room and kitchen separate. The bathroom had a bathtub which was great for my toddler. The breakfast was great too much better than Marriott hotels! Just higher quality it felt like. The staff at this location were so super kind and helpful! Such a lovely stay, highly recommend and will definitely return if I come back to Charlotte!

You seriously can't get any closer, it's right next door, which made the whole trip super convenient. As a Hyatt member I try to stick with the brand, so it was clutch that there's a Hyatt property located right in the heart of downtown. My experience was great from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and had no problem accommodating my early check-in. The room itself exceeded expectations--booked a studio and ended up with a surprisingly spacious setup: separate living area, big comfy bed, huge bathroom, plus a full fridge and kitchen. Didn't necessarily need the kitchen for this trip, but it'd be perfect for longer stays. Price-wise, I paid around $150 a night during a holiday week, which felt like a steal for the location and quality. Honestly, I don't know that you could do much better downtown. Zero complaints Hyatt House delivered exactly what I needed and more. If I'm ever back in town I'm 100% staying here again.

Parking is almost $50/night, so keep that in mind when traveling. I have a list of people to shoutout because they all went above and beyond to show true hospitality. 1. Shelly at the front desk was incredible.!! She was super sweet and took the time to explain every part of the hotel. Shelly truly made us feel welcomed. Each time we walked by, there was always a wave and a smile. Thank you for that! 2. Wanda!! She is the "singing omelette lady" during the week. I got to catch her on a Monday and she was so pleasant so early in the morning. Yes, she sings little tunes and exchanges pleasantries. Surely it's a great way to start your day! 3. Ivan!!! The coolest dude at the Embassy! He was our bartender almost every night and he didn't disappoint. Even with the heavy crowds during the evening cocktail hour, Ivan always kept his composure and had a smile on his face. 4. Tracy-- an excellent saleswoman. She caught us on the last day of our trip, offering us deals we tried not to refuse. It seemed like she was genuinely interested in our travel interests, rather than just trying to close a deal. I appreciated her warmth and kindness and it seems like she really enjoys her job. She's absolutely perfect for her role.

The only bummer upon check in was learning that the elevator was broken. My suitcase was a bit on the heavy side, as this was the front end of a week long North Carolina road trip. They delivered it, but it was still annoying. I loved the staff at Sophia's. They were so friendly. For sure stop in there for a cocktail. The room was comfortable. I love the funky side tables. We did complain about a certain smoky smell, the issue was addressed immediately. We were promised a credit that never materialized. When we checked out, we were offered bag service again (elevator still down), that also did not come to pass. We figured out that the same guy that was running the valet was also responsible for bag service. Impossible for one person to do both tasks efficiently and concurrently. This was a nice hotel, but definitely not Michelin Key level (we have stayed in many).

Couple of things I felt could have been different- - The room with the view and the included kitchen were great, but they didn't clean up the room or make the bed, the following days. - The floor consistently smelled caustic - like leaked chemicals.

We returned at 2:30 pm and were told that no rooms were available. We had to sit in the lobby for another hour and a half and asked the desk several times to check availability of a clean room for us. Finally after approaching the desk at 4:00 pm our room became available. We got up to the room and opened the door and it had an odd smell to it. We were so exhausted from waiting for almost 4 hours to get our room we decided to proceed. Later we noticed that the AC unit seemed to be leaking and the carpet was wet around it. This is unacceptable. The room should not have been given to us at all. The breakfast was OK. There was no cut up fruit like we had at other Hampton Inns. Just a couple of apples in plastic wrap. The hotel is tired and needs to be updated. You need to do better.

I'm truly conflicted about this review…read more.. I spent the weekend at the Charlotte Courtyard for pleasure, and there are some things they did great, and some things that definitely feel short. On the side of awesomeness: Their location is incredible!!! Seriously, you'll be hard pressed to get a better location in Downtown Charlotte. Situated right in the center of Uptown, they are close to myriad bars and restaurants, nightlife, and activities. Close enough to everything to be walkable, just far enough away to avoid the weekend bar insanity. Also, the staff was incredible!! Everyone I interacted with was kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure my needs and wants were met. Last thing, the price was great!! Okay, the shortfalls: the rooms! While the beds and pillows were comfortable, the decor is about 20 years in need of renovation. Definitely circa 2002. Dark, dark walls made the room feel like a cave. And the ancient Motel 6 window air conditioning unit was so loud, I couldn't run it at night because it woke me up every time it kicked on. Also, they do have a lively rooftop pool. I heated. And it's in between two four-story wings of the hotel, so it gets minimal sun. And even on the hottest days (I was there in early Sept), the pool was an icy 50 deg. So again, I'm torn. Would I stay there again? Maybe. But at least I'd know what I'm in for. And now...so do you. And knowing is half the battle.

So I decided to give Courtyard a shot and it wasn't the best experience. Bottom line, if you're in…read moreneed of some rest and relaxation, I HIGHLY suggest choose a different hotel. First, the positives. It's located in the heart of uptown, which makes walking anywhere quick and simple. There is a public parking garage accessible from the hotel. The room is large enough for 2 people and the water pressure is top tier. Unfortunately, a fire alarm woke us up one morning. Emergency vehicles were arriving so we thought it was pretty serious. The fire alarm message directed us to use the stairs to exit and this became confusing. We followed an emergency exit sign which led us to a corner of confusion. One sign pointed in the direction we were heading and the other pointed in the direction we just came from (see picture). We decided to keep heading down our initial path, and the couple behind us decided to backtrack. Our path led us down a stairwell to a door that stated "not an exit" but also said "emergency exit" on the handle. We went through the door, which placed us on the 10th floor of the parking garage. From there, we had to find yet another way out... Ultimately, we all made it out, with no explanation of the cause. If this was a real emergency, there may have been some serious consequences. I hope they can add some clarity to their emergency exit signage during their remodel. More negatives. We stayed in room 314, and there was no headboard. There were only some weird, foam pieces with pillow cases. You can feel the springs in the bed, as it is VERY firm. If you're a side sleeper like me, this will hurt your back! I didn't know popcorn ceilings were still a thing, but there was some questionable fluid on it. And the bathroom seemed clean, until you looked at all of the hair that was left in many areas. Lastly, you can hear all of the grinding, drilling, and pounding from construction and every conversation in the hallway. If you choose to stay here, good luck
