I'll start by saying the lady who was new and checked me in was very friendly. This in no way reflects her. Me wife and son stayed here one night while traveling through the area. We chose this hotel due to price reviews and looked nice in pics. It also had a 1 bedroom suite that had a pull out sofa in living room so didn't need to get to rooms since our son is an adult and didn't want out to all cram into one room with two beds. The lobby looked nice and made our way to room. Dropped off luggage and went to eat. Upon our return we noticed there were only three pillows in the room and they were on the smaller side. I went down to ask for more pillows and was told they didn't have any since they were all locked up in housekeeping and they left at 5. It was 530. She the proceeded to tell me she could give me a blanket to use????? I told her there were 3 adults and only 3 pillows and she to recent neck and shoulder surgery I needed to prop myself up so asked her if she could ask manager to open housekeeping. She informed me they were also gone. I then asked if she could get some from a vacant room and she said she would ask manager. She went into the back and a couple minutes later came out with two more pillows and said this was all they could do. Wait so you did have some??? You lied??? How many more were back there??? I went back to room very irritated and was informed there was no sheets or blankets for the pull out. Mind you none in room. Went back down and got those. Thinking this place had worse service than the motel 6 I stayed in 20 years ago I then discovered there was a smell of sewage coming from toilet. Due to what time it was and how tired we were from traveling we just put seat down and shut the doors. Stay away from this place. Pay more it's worth it trust me. In all honesty I would take a 6 over this place. read more

I was very disappointed in the attitude of the lady named Kia checking us in. My sister and I wanted to change rooms, and were told there were no other rooms even though it showed a couple available as our room only had the 1 bed and a sofa.. my sister called the Hilton direct to talk to them and got some foreign lady who said the same, so needless to say we were stuck in the room. I wear earplugs so I didn't hear anything, but my sister said after or around midnight she was woken up by loud male voices directly outside our window. Had to call down to the desk. We were both very disappointed, you could not set the thermostat for the ac. It had to be 68 which made it too cold for me plus I have respiratory issues. Very very disappointed, Hilton is supposed to be top notch.. the room for 1 night was 185 dollars. I've paid less at other places and was more satisfied than there. It's a well appointed suite hotel with kitchens that have plates, mugs, glasses, and silverware, and a dishwasher. And a larger refrigerator. The beds were comfortable for the night. Unfortunately, when we were checking in, there were no rooms available on the side of the hotel away from SW. 13th St.. All night long at least 8 to 12 times I heard loud trucks, muffler,less. vehicles, and sirens. I do not believe the windows are double glazed. It affected a good night sleep. The hotel was renovated recently. You would've thought they would've put in double glazed windows, and noise muffling Blinds. They did not. I was not able to enjoy the breakfast buffet due to Surgery the next day. But my husband said it was good. Seeing that sleep is crucial before a stressful day. This brought my rating down four stars. read more

Had an excellent stay at this hotel. What made it so special was the hotel staff because they were super kind and friendly. The check-in process was seamless and I was able to get into my room quickly without hassle. The room was very large and very comfortable. The room was also clean and well maintained. I was in town for a wedding and needed help zipping up my romper and when I went downstairs, both of the ladies were trying to help me because my zipper was stuck. That's what I call going above and beyond with customer service. They were so nice to me as I was traveling solo. The hotel had a beautiful lobby and a minimart for snacks and toiletries. It is very close to university of Florida and has lots of cute gator gear. It was a great value for the stay and I will definitely stay again. read more

There is very little to recommend this hotel. Let us cover the positives first - it was clean and quiet. Now to the aggravations, first the TV continues Hilton's war against allowing a guest to watch the programming of their choice. Streaming choices beyond Netflix, Disney +, and Apple TV consist of Calm, Peloton, Sirius XM, RedBull TV, etc. No HBO Max or Amazon Prime and no way to access streaming other than those that have found favor with Mr. Hilton. It sucks. Now to what attempts to pass for breakfast. You must ask an attendant for a glass of milk. No refrigerated items were available as the refrigerator was not working. The "fresh" yogurt machine also was not working. Room temperature water can be obtain water from a nearby water fountain and ice from an ice machine at the end of a hallway. Make your fantastic Hilton breakfast sandwich with your choice of a white bread hamburger bun or a white bread hamburger bun. Avoid this place, you have been warned. read more

changed my review to 1 star. i'm so fed up. asked again for a cleaning. been asking for at very least a vacuuming the last 5 days in a row!! i would suggest bringing your own cleaning supplies because these women do not like to clean. upon arrival the bathroom floor was covered in someone's hair. been here a month and room has only been cleaned once. keep requesting a cleaning and they never show up. talked to the taller night lady last night and she was very apologetic and put in a request for another cleaning... again they never showed up! she said the computer is saying they came by, they never did. hair all over the floor, sand on the floor, garbage over flowing, sheets need to be changed. my husband took the garbage out and we got our own clean linens and towels from the front desk. i'm about to go find a cheap vacuum and mop for the rest of the stay. at home i vacuum and mop everyday, change sheets once a week. i have no issue cleaning my own room. i just need supplies. while we were getting clean sheets, garbage bags and linens a man behind us was saying he has the same problem. he's been here 2 months and they only take the garbage out every 3 days or so. i'm gone most of the day. but in the mornings when leaving i've only ever seen the cleaning ladies walking around smoking and yelling on their phones or sitting in the stair well scrolling on their phone and smoking. read more

This is the worst Hilton property we've ever rated in- $186 per night- no customer service- check-in was lacking one any info- we had to pull the answers out of them like they were doing us a favor- lumpy pillows, blanket embroidery is like sandpaper, mattress sags in the middle. Breakfast barely edible, fake eggs, I asked if she would be bringing out oatmeal to put in the big empty crock pot and she just said, no, there's no oatmeal- we asked where we could throw away our empty coffee cups and bowls( cold cereal was edible) and she pointed to some random direction- omg so unfriendly and unhelpful. I'm giving two stars due to the friendliness of the front desk staff and the location. My call team and I have stayed here throughout the month of June and as we finish this trip we will all be staying at a different location moving forward. In fact I've had two colleagues cancel this trip prior to arrival and moved hotels. Overall service is lacking. On my first trip my key card kept deactivating, fortunately the young woman at the desk figured out it was due to the batteries going out in my door. House keeping the first time was unpredictable. The hotel also had cooktops available, however no pans readily available. Trip 2 I arrived and was told again they had a cook top in my room however no pans. This was on a Sunday night. I was unable to get pans until Tuesday which is hard as my team and I spent 15+ days a month on the road so we prefer to eat in when we can. By Tuesday I again requested housekeeping come on Wednesday which they didn't, so requested again on Thursday (no show) trash backing up. The front desk staff was apologetic providing towels, Friday housekeeping showed up as I was leaving. When I arrived back to my room the bed was stripped with linens lying on the couch, towels were taken out but not replenished, and trash was just left piled under the sink. I've never seen anything like it. I again spoke to the desk staff and housekeeping had left. I offered to make my own bed and take out trash but they said it was a miscommunication with the computer system. The only way I've made progress was through the front desk staff and conversations with Hilton Corporate. I believe these issues are isolated to this location and not representative to Hilton Brands, so moving forward we will have staff utilize other locations. I would encourage anyone to save the headaches and book another location! Update: Friday evening hotel staff from the desk did come and finish servicing my room which was very much appreciated. Again I hope that I return to better experiences at other Hilton properties. read more

The room was overall nice. Our complaint about the room is the door to the bathroom is not very accessible because it's one of those sliding doors and there wasn't a very good handle well there wasn't really one at all. Our whole family had breakfast and it was the day that we were checking out so when we tried to go back to our room to pack all of our keys including the ones online were not available anymore. We did get back in. Message to the hotel: Please let all of the keys work until at least til 11:00 am on the day of check out. read more

The Home2 Gainesville is located conveniently close to the University of Florida campus. The hotel is small but intimate with only about five or six floors. The great part about the Home2 brand is that all rooms are suites. Who doesn't like some extra space while traveling? The rooms were nicely decorated although they could be modernized a little bit. The rooms have a choice of two queens or a king sized bed along with a sofa that turns into a sofa bed. There is also a closet, desk, and kitchenette area in the rooms. The bathrooms are spacious and very clean as well. I loved that this hotel had complimentary breakfast in the morning. They had many options from egg sandwiches to gluten free oatmeal. I loved that they catered to every palate. The Home2 is a wonderful place to stay in the Gainesville area at an affordable price! read more

This is a functional hotel with adequate facilities including a pool, workout area and laundry facilities. However, the thing that added value and made it truly outstanding was the amazing honesty and service provided by the staff members. Such wonderful and extraordinary service. We left a passport, wallet and toiletries in the room in our rush to get out. A hotel representative Theresa emailed me and then sent everything back via Federal Express. There was $490 in the wallet and everything was returned under the leadership of housekeeping manager Cookie. It is rare to experience such honesty and service. Thank you! read more

First of all the front desk lady, Demeatria was superb - she was so kind, welcoming, sharp, and professional - any organization would be lucky to have her on the team. The hotel room was nice, clean, loved the space and layout. There was a curtain divider between the beds and sitting area which is a brilliant addition, allowing for someone to hang out with a reading light on and not disturb a family member trying to sleep. The kitchen matte and desk area were set up nicely as well. The only complaint in the room was that the water pressure for the shower was pretty low. The continental breakfast was okay. Located conveniently close to the hospital which is what we needed. Grateful for a good place to lay our heads. read more

Great spot!!! Rooms are massive and have a whole kitchen suite. Sheets are so soft and pillows cozy. 50 in flat screen viewable in whole room. In shower shampoo and body wash. There's strong internet in room and hot breakfast served in the am from hearty grain waffles to egg wraps and oatmeal to hard boiled eggs and muffins etc. Coffee and tea available all day. And a pretty decent fitness center with treads elliptical and bikes. Pool is out back-- didn't have time to use it on my work trip but it's there lol. Close to downtown Gainesville and a quick 15 min to the track. Parking is free out back and staff is super helpful. I didn't get room service and they even left a bag of extra stuff in case I needed it on my door when I returned home on day 2. Would def stay here again. read more

Our family just finished a four week trip covering Kentucky, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We stayed in a number of Home2Suites and were completely satisfied with every one except this. We phoned several times to ensure the room would be feather free (allergies). We checked in after 5pm, so there was no excuse for the room not having been fully attended. Of course, there was a feather pillow, but that only showed a lack of diligence. What was worse was the complete inattention to normal Home2Suites services. We looked for dishes; nothing, until we called the desk and were told to check the dishwasher. There were a couple of plates and bowls, and two glasses - all wet. No way of knowing if they'd been rinsed and left in the dishwasher for later washing (the appliance wasn't warm though, so we assume it hadn't been used). No utensils. None. Not a single one. Went down to the desk and was told all they had were some plastic forks because the manager had ordered more silverware but it hadn't arrived yet. There were no knives. There were no spoons. The attitude of the front desk staff when we checked in, with the exception of one younger woman, was dismissive and condescending. A poor couple checking in ahead of us had called twice to specify one room, two beds. The system had it down as two rooms, and no one at the hotel had looked at the reservation when taking their call. Yes, you guessed it - the hotel insisted on charging them for two rooms. The next morning staff were even worse, again with the exception of one young man. The new manager was again dismissive and condescending. No point in asking why breakfast had been cleared early, or if we could grab something to take in the car (it closed at nine, we were there about 8 minutes before). What we could see of the breakfast being cleared was a pretty sad affair anyway; we got something on the road. The hotel is older, which would be fine if it didn't also feel slightly filthy around the edges. The outside isn't kept up, and most of the furniture looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The elevators should be ADA-compliant, with a ring or buzzer each time a new floor is reached. In one elevator, the buzzer wasn't working at all. In the other, the tone was so loud and breaking up so badly that we thought it was the alarm going off at first. If this had been our first Home2Suites, we'd never stay in another. This hotel shouldn't be part of the Hilton chain. It's a disgrace. read more

I love this hotel! This was easily one of my best hotel experiences. The place just opened two weeks before my stay, so everything was sparkling new. We got to the hotel a little early, around 2pm. But the front desk staff, Kristen and Rachel, were super friendly, and got a room cleaned for us in half an hour. Meanwhile, we relaxed by the fire pit (it was a cold day)! We were pretty impressed with the room we had. It's not the biggest room we had, but it was super spacious for the five of us. Two large queen beds and a sofa bed, with a pretty big 50" TV! In the foyer, there was a small kitchen with a large fridge and microwave, dishwasher, sink, and area for a portable stove top. We did make dinner one night. The stove top was okay, but it only came with one skillet. We were cooking pasta so we had to cook it in the microwave with the microwavable dishware. They should have pots. The bathroom was a little smaller than expected but functional and modern. I kind of liked the shower versus the tub. Be aware that there are pumps of shampoo and body wash, not those annoying little bottles. The two queen beds were super comfy. They were just the right firmness and the sheets were really soft, the softest I've had in a mid range hotel. I also liked the padded headboard, which was nice for reading. There is also TONS of lighting but be aware that if some of your lights aren't turning on, make sure the master switch by the door is on. Breakfast here is a little different from other hotels. They have usual cereals and doughnuts, but everything else is different. There are microwavable breakfast sandwiches (really good), buckwheat waffles, and lots of toppings, including Nutella! The saline pool was large and furnished nicely. However it was freezing all the time we tried to swim! The pool gets morning sun, and we are always out doing things in the morning. By after dinner, it was so cold! We still swam a little but it was followed by trips to the adjacent fire pit. The gym was small but well equipped, with two treadmills, a stationary bike, elliptical, weight machine, dumbbells, and weighted balls. One issue I found in the brand new hotel was a general look of disregard to workmanship. It looked great from a distance, but some areas looked poorly installed...there was lots of visible glue/painted over wallpaper/mistakes. Nothing major, but just something a little shocking. Two other gripes were housekeeping oversights (had to ask for toilet paper twice) and horrible WiFi reception. But on the bright side, we received six towels in our room (we always have to ask for more), and the staff said that AT&T would be by to fix the WiFi. The location is great. It's only 10 minutes to UF, a little more walking. We could see Shands hospital from our room (two queen rooms face the street), and its 20 minutes to Payne's Prarie or Devil's Millhopper, and an hour to Ocala. There's a Publix 10 minutes away and a Dollar General across the street. However, the area isn't fancy. The best part here was the staff. Kristen, Rachel, Gabby, and Erica were all super friendly! Rachel (I believe, curly hair, glasses, usually in the morning) checked us in the first day, and every day thereafter she followed up with us to see how we were doing, etc. The service was just so friendly and the staff made you feel so welcome. As mentioned earlier, this was an awesome stay! The hotel was new and nice, the rooms were functional, and the staff was so awesome. Anytime I'm in the Gainesville area, I will definitely stay here again. read more

Pros: The rooms are humongous, as in probably half the size of my house. The full sized refrigerator and dishwasher included in the room are nice. Plenty of outlets for charging devices. Friendly staff. The location is great in reference to UF. Plenty of parking. Cons: Overpriced at over $200/night. Only two (VERY flat) pillows were provided on each bed, and the beds seemed way too old and flat for a relatively new hotel. Our friend who was supposed to sleep on the pull-out sofa ended up sleeping on the sofa's cushions on the floor because it was more comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was not kept stocked up so options were limited. I would probably stay at one of the several other (cheaper) Hilton options in Gainesville next time. read more

Very Nice Clean spacious rooms! Comfortable beds and nice location! Stayed for a couple days to drop my son off to UF for college and location was perfect! Breakfast included and that's always a plus! Nice pool in the back with two grills to bbq if you want! Hubbie and I sat out on the front patio both nights and watched the rain and the cars go by on 13th street. Staff was very nice and friendly and everything seems well kept! We will return! read more

Nice hotel, largely because it's brand new. Husband and I both found the bed to be quite uncomfortable, and small. There were also only two flat pillows, and the A/C was quite loud, so our night's rest wasn't that great. Breakfast was nice and well varied, but it took forever to navigate through all the confused customers. Wifi was HORRIBLE, even signing up as a HiltonHHonors member. Very nice extended-stay hotel with friendly staff. The building is only one year old, so everything is new. The beds were comfortable (pillows are on the thin side; I doubled up when sleeping on my side), the desk chair is very nice (completely adjustable height and arm rests), there's a ton of storage available, and the kitchenette has everything you could want except for an actual stove (you can request a free electric hotplate). Being a member of Rainforest Alliance, I especially appreciated the very tasty complimentary Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee provided daily in the room. A few things that together cost a star are that the tap water tastes so bad as to be undrinkable (not saying it's unsafe; just that it smells and tastes like rotten eggs). This is a problem with Gainesville city water generally, but a classy hotel (which this is) should provide some form of water filtration to compensate (such as a refrigerator that dispenses filtered water). Showering in this water will still get you clean, but you won't feel clean while you're in the shower, as the water actually feels slimy. So a hotel-wide filtration system to remove the sulfur would really improve the guest experience. The AC is very effective, but so strong even on the "Low" setting that it dried my eyes out from across the room. Some way of lowering the fan speed still further or manually closing some of the vents would be helpful. And the neighborhood is not great. This isn't the hotel's fault of course, but there were at times (generally after sunset) visibly intoxicated men hanging out in the dollar store parking lot across the street, and once even on the sidewalk directly in front of the hotel. The hotel itself always felt cheerful and safe, but walking around the area at night did not. In summary, if you bring or buy a water-filtering pitcher (and perhaps your own pillow) and forgo walks after dark, you'll enjoy your stay at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Gainesville. They provide essentially everything you could want in an extended stay hotel. read more

Just spent 2 months working in Gainesville. I stayed at Home2 the entire time. I honestly can say they made it a home away from home for me. The front desk staff (Greg, Blake, Eric, Kelly and especially Sebastian) are amazing! Michael, at the breakfast bar memorized my coffee order day 2 and had it ready for me as soon as he saw me approaching the breakfast area everyday. The hotel and rooms are kept so clean (thanks to Tawana and the rest of the housekeeping staff). I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a home away from home. They are great! I'm so sorry if I forgot anyone. Please just know that you guys do an amazing job!! read more

This hotel and its staff, are wonderful. Our son required an organ transplant at Shands Hospital in Gainesville and we needed a place to stay long term. The location is very near Shands, and the rate they offered was very generous. We desperately needed a break at this time in our lives, and a comfortable safe place to call "home" for about a month. Home2Suites is clean, comfortable, spacious room. The front desk staff were some of the most accommodating we've ever experienced. Housekeeping provided all that we needed and when we desired full cleaning, they scheduled that for us. Breakfast has changed in the season of Covid, so no more buffets but this hotel has a nice work around. The fitness center is great, pay laundry always clean and easily accessible. The pool is very nice, as are the outdoor fireplaces where guests get to know each other. All in all, we highly recommend this hotel for whatever reason you need a place to stay in Gainesville FL. read more

We also were not sure if we were going to return to the area a few days so they booked us rooms anyway so we could keep the same price as our current stay. So nice! This hotel started off on the right foot from the very beginning. The man working the front desk has his A game on for customer service. Great check in experience.
