Bugs everywhere. We turned the key back in 5 minutes after entering our room and seeing dead bugs, sticky yellow residue on the bathroom door frame, alive bugs crawling on the night stand next to the bed, and bugs crawling on the floor. You pay for what you get with this place. These bugs were most if not all German cockroaches. For those unfamiliar these bugs are a result of lack of cleanliness. "They reproduce rapidly, carry bacteria, and their droppings can trigger allergies, making them a significant health concern." Almost seemed like housekeeping didn't clean the floor before we got in but I'm sure there's just too many bugs for housekeeping to keep up with at this point. I stayed at the Red Roof Inn on 4/10/26. I said on the first floor near the back of the hotel because I had a dog w me . On 4/11/26 I received a charge of $250 for smoking in the room . The room did indeed stink , as did the hall leading to the back door . I was told I should have reported the stench and that was on me . I spoke with Amex about the charges and they pointed out how difficult it is to prove you didn't smoke especially when you've left the property . Because I never smoked however, I would be able to produce a doctors note saying that I was not a smoker as well as a hair follicle sample and could also have a blood test done while on vacation . It would have cost money but then I would have had to take the Red Roof Inn to court for damages and fees . When I related this to management the charges were dropped . I'm still waiting for resolution from corporate . These people are liars and committing credit card fraud . Do NOT stay there. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!! BUGSS!!! Me and my friends recently attempted to stay here on March 7th, we got into our first room and noticed a pinky length cockroach on the wall. After further inspection and moving the cart with the fridge, there were at least 60, yes 60, roaches of all sizes festering underneath and now spreading around the room. We then went to the front desk and switched rooms. We inspected this room and in the beginning it seemed better, but after moving the desk and the fridge, yet again appeared another adult roach. Upon checking in late on a Thursday night, the night check in clerk was friendly. She checked me in and only gave me one key, not asking if I needed another key for the 2 double beds. I grabbed one bed and other guest grabbed the other. After getting settled, they said the bed smells like dog. It was very late and we were exhausted so dealt with it for the night since we figured housekeeping wasn't their at almost midnight anyway. The next morning at 9:18am, there is a loud noise coming from the hallway. Apparently before daily check out time, when people might still be sleeping, is an appropriate time to vacuum the hallways. After tending to our business for the morning, we went to let the front desk know the bed smelled like dog. Rather than oh I'm so sorry, let me fix that for you, we were asked why we didn't complain night before. When we said we checked in very late and just wanted to sleep, we were given a flat and fitted sheet and sent on our way like that fixed the problem. No pillowcase, comforter, offer to change the sheets which clearly were not in between guests, nor an apology. Completely unsanitary and leads you to question what other shortcuts were taken based on appearances. The hotel is a mix of updated and old. Doors to rooms all look they've had years of abuse. Bathrooms have leaks and wall damage but room area itself looks newer. Bathroom sink is slow to drain. The AC sometimes sounds like it's getting ready to take off, very loud when running. read more

I paid extra for the premium room with a "spa bathroom experience" and there wasn't even shampoo! This place is really a dump. I can't imagine what it was before these new renovations. At least they don't charge for traveling with my dog. Two stars- location is good and the free dog stay. The bed is actually pretty comfortable. read more

Someone came into our room in the middle of the night and took one of our suitcases. I drove from North Carolina and crashed. I didn't realize until the next morning that you have to shove the door shut and it doesn't automatically close. The hotel management was very reluctant to check their cameras and didn't believe we had been robbed, but finally saw the tape and admitted it. read more

Traveling with a pet on the cheap has me hitting way too many Red Roof Inn properties. No questions asked, no extra charges, but unpredictable property conditions. This property is above average. What I liked: - It's clean, has solid floors, and lacked the usual pet smell - The check-in process was easy and friendly - Great proximity to I-75 and UF - Seemingly safe setting - Safer tub for the old folks with gripping decals In the end, I'd stay here again and recommend it to others for a cheap stay. The elevator smells like pet urine so badly I held my breath each time; the room smells like something bad yet indistinguishable; both beds sagged when I sat on one side; the toilet seat is barely on the toilet it's so loose; the air conditioning blew hot air, they fixed it to blow cold, but now you can't adjust the fan so it constantly blows; one light bulb is missing, the other is burnt out; the light in the dressing room is so dim I needed all the other lights on just to see; the walls are chipped; and there's a suspicious-looking red stain on the bathroom floor. But the people who work here are very nice, and the room is clean, that's why I gave it two stars instead of zero. Stay away! read more

Our suitcase was stolen and management couldn't care. We arrived exhausted and either left it just inside or outside our room. We didn't need it until the next morning. Management has plenty of cameras but doesn't want to review them. Lots of sketchy characters roaming around. read more

My family from out of town asked for the premium rooms here (~$80 a night not including tax). I suppose the rooms are "you get what you pay for" but I still expected the premium rooms to look slightly nicer. Instead, the room we had was mediocre. Premium rooms are supposed to come with complementary snacks which they did not give to us until we went downstairs to the reception desk to ask for it. The room itself does not look like the pictures. It's very small and has an old-ish feel to it. It's not a very modern looking room. The desk chair had a suspicious skid mark on the seat. Ending on a more positive note, the space is very clean and well lit. The room had a microwave, a fridge, a functional air conditioning system, and a coffee maker. Our room in particular was quiet. The staff was also very nice and friendly. read more

I wish that I read these reviews before staying at this hotel. Most of the hotels in the area were either sold out or $500+ a night. I regret staying here. There are roaches and bed bugs everywhere. I woke up from itching in the middle of the night and when I turned on the lights I saw a roach on my pillow. Then I saw them on the walls, on the floors, in bathroom etc.... We have Cat and this hotel is just perfect for ppl with animals. Front desk friendly and helpful. They have few rules but its ok. Our room was clean, bath didnt drain that well but hot water quick with good pressure. Fridge not cooling that much but for few drinks and snack good enough. Beds actually comfy. Pillows for sure. First off let me answer the most important question - Would I stay here again - the answer is Yes. That being said, I was somewhat disappointed in the hotel. We were in town for a wedding and it was the Gator's season opener home game - plus it was Labor Day weekend so there were not a lot of available hotel choices. So we booked a room at the Red Roof Inn at $89/night/avg for 5 nights. The room was called "Non-Smoking Superior King Bed". Well, I don't think there was anything Superior about this room. It was average. There was a small refrigerator and a microwave. A very cheap coffee maker and very low end coffee and creamers. The room was small. The floors were laminate - so no real "warmth" to the room. The one thing that REALLY ticked me off was that when I got the bill on the last day I saw that I was charged $1.50/day for a "SAFE WITH LIMITED LIABILITY". That is such BS! We didn't even use the safe! Red Roof - is it really worth the $1.50/day to do something so cheesy as to charge for a safe w/ LIMITED WARRANTY (their words)? It left a bad taste in my mouth and annoyed me enough to take the time to write about it! If you really need the extra $1.50 - roll it into my nightly rate. Are they going to start itemizing the bill so that next time I will see a charge for $1.50/day for LIMITED STRENGTH TOILET PAPER? And again, aside from those things, the hotel was clean, safe and the pool was beautiful. But please, don't call a room Superior unless there is something there that is actually Superior. read more

I do not throw excellent reviews lightly, but this recently remodeled hotel is a rare find for me --- I could find nothing wrong with the accommodations. I do recommend upgrading reservations only for the convenience of a refrigerator. The room design is excellent, and the firm king bed had no signs of wear. Had a very good sleep except for a louder than average a/c which runs constantly unless off. The (Briggs) toilet was remarkably the quietest ever, with a conservative use of water; yes,,, so remarkable I looked to see who made it. A perfect location if a) you want to pay less for the basics and b) you want to be walking distance to, literally, EVERYTHING. I registered for training 20 minutes away and found this location to be better-priced. No gym and only coffee for breakfast. Decent-sized pool and friendly enough staff. World's. Slowest. Elevator. But my room was clean and quiet and my A/C worked throughout my stay. There is a Regal Cinema around the corner and a Target, Publix, and Walmart walking distance away. And just about every restaurant you can imagine is also walking distance. A small enough bang for when you are trying to save on bucks. read more

Red Roof has easy access to I-75. Area is in a good location. There's a Target, Publix, restaurants, gas station, McDonald's, Steak and Shake, within walking distance. This location has the updated renovations done to the rooms. Entrance to rooms are located inside. Rooms are no frills and very basic. There is a hair dryer. Bring your own toiletries, shampoo, soap, etc. Depending on which room you stay in, you get a microwave & small fridge. Some rooms do not have these. This is a pet friendly hotel, and they do a good job at keeping the rooms, lobby & grounds clean. Pillows and bedding are average, like something you'd get at Walmart.. pillows flat. I bring my own. I planned a last minute trip to Gainesville to see my son during parent week and I found this hotel on Trip Advisor. I'll be honest with you, I wasn't too stoked about staying here but they were the only place available for under 150.00 a night and close to the University. I was extremely impressed. The hotel was completely remodeled I believe they told me almost two years ago. The staff at the front desk was extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel was very clean, and the rooms were very clean. They offer you two free bottles of water which as you know other hotels normally charge you about 4 to 5 dollars for one bottle of water. They also have free Wi-Fi. The hotel is right in the center of it all, from all kinds of restaurants, to a movie theater, gas stations and it is right off of I 75. I normally stay at Hilton hotels but I have to tell you I would definitely stay here again. read more

I must say, this is the very nicest Red Roof property I've ever stayed in. The rooms have recently been renovated to include hardwood floors and a modern streamlined look. I agree with Nicole H. who mentioned that less is more... that is really true here. The flat panel TV had great sound and picture. And clean! This hotel is spotlessly clean. It's on par with the HI Express across the way that is charging a whole lot more. The staff is super friendly and it feels like they want to be there and they enjoy the guest contact. I have stayed in several hotels in Gainesville as of late. I recently stayed at the Red Roof Inn Plus in Gainesville. I was not expecting much as it is rated as a "2 Star" hotel, low cost no frills that accepts pets. Frankly, I was more than pleased with the facility and its staff! Of the hotels I have stayed at in this area, this is the hotel I would choose to stay in again. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the free wifi and excellent TV with premium channels were nice attributes. The refrigerator in the room kept things cold and the microwave worked perfectly. There was no additional cost for my small dog and we were not consigned to a smelly room because of my pet. The hotel really did a great job. The staff was exceptional. Special shout out to James at the front desk who was helpful, polite, engaged and a terrific representative for the hotel. I had to make an adjustment to my schedule and James was very helpful and understanding. This is a hotel that exceeds what it purports to be. A no frills, clean , comfortable, affordable place to stay at a reasonable price providing excellent value. I would stay here again and I would commend the hotel to you. read more

The service staff is really nice. The hotel room we had was on of the plus plus rooms, i.e., we paid extra for a snack box, better bedding, fridge, and microwave. The bed was pretty uncomfortable, the AC struggled to cool and dehumidify the room, and the shower head leaked water where we didn't have full pressure. Also found one roach in the room. This was our second stay at this hotel and probably our last. Ultimately, the hotel needs to better maintain the rooms and consider upgrading the beds, especially in the plus rooms if you are going to charge more for them. read more

I stayed here on 3/24/12. I had originally booked the Hilton Garden Inn but found this for $30.00 cheaper through Hotels.com so I switched. I just kept thinking, why did I give up Hilton for this? The air conditioner was rattley, it had rained and the room had a damp feeling, the room seemed clean but I just couldn't shake the "ick" feeling. The elevator was extremely slooooowwwww. I was relocating and really needed something more soothing to help with the stress and all of the above just added to it. Live and learn, next time, stay with the original plan! We asked if my 16 foot moving truck was ok parked in their lot and they said they were pretty busy and that we should park in the special "truck lot" across the street which was basically a field!!! Really? We kept the truck in the spot where we left it as there were tons of spots available. read more

I really liked this hotel, the room was nice and clean and the location can't be beat. We brought our dog and there was a nice field across the street that she could run free in. Also, plenty of places to walk near the hotel with sidewalks. Nice pool and exceptionally friendly frond desk staff. Hallways in hotel were super clean and updated. One minor disappointment was the lack of breakfast, it would have been nice to have gotten something basic in the morning, like most hotels offer these days. Love this place and can't get enough of it... Every time I go to Gainesville nowadays, I stay here. The place is great, it's usually very economical, and it's clean! So, yes, the prices go up for game days, but you know, it's nothing compared to the rest of the hotels in town. And, now they've even rennovated! They have new wood floors in the rooms, which makes the place even cleaner. They even have a pool if you want to go in. The staff is friendly for the most part and the only complaint I have is that I lost a t-shirt this past weekend :( boooo but oh well, things happen :) Definitely going back soon! read more

Just ok. The good: Priced lower than most other hotels in this immediate area. Location right off Archer Road and I-75, and around the corner from plenty of shopping centers and food places (Steak n Shake at 2 am = awesome). Very friendly and accomodating staff. Good amenities like a pool, free internet, coffee maker, and fridge. The bad: The first room smelled musty, but the staff quickly switched us. The walls were thin: we were woken up early (7 am) both mornings by our neighbors' conversations. No iron/ironing board in the room. You're only given a little sample pack of shampoo (are times really that tough?!). The priceless: Some rooms are handicap accessible. I've never seen such measures taken in a hotel before, but both rooms we saw had special shower fixtures and benches for those with disabilities. One was even wheelchair accessible with no tub, just a drain on the floor. Probably pretty valuable for someone who can use that. The bottom-line: I'll stay here again, only as long as 1) it stays cheaper than the nearby hotels, 2) it stays cleaner/nicer than the loooow budget ones around town, and 3) I need a good basic place to stay without too many frills. read more

Stayed for 2 nights in August while bringing the child to college. Paid $110 a night. The good: Hotel room was very clean! No bugs. AC worked well. Pool is nice with loungers and tables with umbrellas. Perfect location. The ehh: no free breakfast for the price. The beds are quite hard. The only toiletries were bar soap and shampoo both of very low quality. All and all. For the cleanliness this may be my choice again on future visits for gators football! read more

Nice rooms, great location, friendly staff! Stayed here while visiting friends in town after a multi-city personal vacation, and this place was a nice end to it. It's set back off the highway so I had to look at my navigation/directions twice, but its location is great: close to shopping (Target, Publix, etc.) and there are a bunch of chain restaurants close by as well. Only took me 10-15 minutes to get downtown. There's no breakfast included and I do wish mini fridges were included with every room, but it's made clear that these services aren't offered during booking, so I stayed here knowing that. Can't beat it for the price; it's a clean, safe, convenient place to stay. The best part is that pets stay free! I brought my dog here and there were no questions asked (I just had to fill out a pet policy form) and all the staff were friendly toward my him. read more

We stayed at this hotel on our way through and what a pleasant surprise it was. They are in the midst of a total redesign and upgrade of all the rooms and we were lucky enough to get one of the newly upgraded rooms. They are REALLY nice, and for $60/night you can't go wrong. The rooms are contemporary design, flat screen tv's, pergo floors, even the bathrooms got a facelift. It's a great exit as well, plenty of restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, etc. The hotel is clean, the pool is nice and the staff is very friendly. Perfect for a night or two on the road. Book thru the hotel website, their rate is cheaper than Hotwire and hotels.com and make sure you ask for one of the new rooms. read more
