I unfortunately stayed less than three hours at this hotel. I didn't realize that the AC was motion-sensored and would shut off when there was no movement. We were there during the summer when temperatures were in the high 80s and 90s with high humidity. Our room reached 84-86°F when the AC wasn't running. On top of that, the AC was broken and wasn't kicking in when we arrived at the hotel. They sent a technician to fix it, but about an hour later, it was still not working. He was very sweet and tried very hard to figure out what was wrong, constantly going back and forth to get different equipment and parts. Thankfully, I was able to get a refund because it was getting close to 11 PM, and we were exhausted. We ended up finding another hotel. All of the staff members were very kind and helpful, but unfortunately, I would not stay here again during the summer. The idea of the AC shutting off when there is no activity makes no sense, especially at night when guests are sleeping. read more

My main reason to write this review is to express the lack of cleanliness in the room. To put it point blank on the surface you may think you walked into a decent room. I walked into a suite that clearly had not been deep cleaned in some time. Both pull out couches had stains on the cushions and the mattresses. I understand me getting a pet friendly room that I may encounter some of these things but for someone who has stayed in many pet friendly rooms from lower tiered hotels I expected the Hilton to at least vacuum under the couches and deep clean what more than likely was "pet stains" on the couch cushions. One of the cushions looked like it had a blood stain on it. I pulled the couch up so I can plug in a fan for my son and nothing but trash was between the seats and the floor. Again I have stayed in many suites including the Hilton and for all the space provided in the room the is very minimal furniture, only 1 sink in the room which is located in the bathroom, the microwave is by the elevator and when you flushed the toilet the water sprayed up to the floor. This was room 425 so if anyone from the Hilton sees this there is a lot to be done. I chose this hotel because it wasn't too far from the Richmond Raceway which was a decent $15 Lyft ride so no compaints there and there was a pool/hot tub. My kids wanted to use the pool so I was happy with the hot tub option for my bad back.... Guess what the Hot Tub was the same temp as the pool. COLD. Now I'm just on the side playing on my phone while my kids enjoy some pool time. The reason Im not giving it 1 star is because the staff are delightful. My wife and I went to the bar to ease the stress of everything wrong with this place and enjoyed the conversation with the staff. They were as helpful as they could be at the momnet but getting a different suite the weekend of the 2026 Cook Out 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway was pretty impossible at this point. Convenient location. Disappointing stay. This hotel has plenty of eateries within a block or two, and our room had a nice city view. I also appreciated the shower amenities, fridge, and microwave. The room itself felt worn and poorly maintained. There were stains on the pillow and bed cover, and trays and other finishes were visibly beat up. The TV was outdated, with no obvious way to connect to streaming services. Breakfast pricing felt like a trap. If you add it when you book your room, it's about $10 more total per day for the whole room, but if you skip that, it's about $25 per person. Valet also seemed understaffed, so use the app to request your car. read more

Stayed at the Hilton Richmond Downtown for two nights as a Hilton Diamond member, and this property did not live up to the price. Even though I used points, the room value was around $450/night with tax. The room was marginally clean but clearly not premium. Multiple issues: inconsistent hot water (cold showers at night), TV didn't work properly, safe was broken, and the fridge had to be repaired. The room was also dusty enough that housekeeping had to come back and redo it. Property issues too--only 1 of 3 elevators working, poor lighting in common areas, and the front desk was difficult to reach by phone. The location is near the convention center, but not great at night. We were advised to stay on property after dark, and there were visible concerns around the entrances and surrounding walkways. Homeless people, among others. Biggest issue was the Diamond food and beverage credit. Two-night stay with two guests should be $60. I checked in late and checked out early, so there was really only one usable window--but only $30 was applied. Hotel said it's "use it or lose it" by calendar day. I disagreed and raised it directly, but they stuck to their position. Staff were polite, but between the maintenance issues, pricing, location concerns, and how benefits were handled, this stay fell short. At a $400+ per night value, this property delivers a mid-tier experience at best. Until both the physical condition and the application of core Hilton benefits are addressed, I would not return. read more

For being a "4 star" hotel I would not recommend this place. The bed was uncomfortable, the air conditioning didn't work well because the filter was so clogged that it had like a half of an inch of dust caked on it, we had a room that slept 6 and were given towels for 2. We wanted to use the sofa bed and had no bedding for that so we had to ask for it and the front desk said they one had two sheets and a pillow. We only wanted housekeeping to come in once during our 5 day stay, they came in and grabbed our towels and didn't make the beds or anything. The trash at the front of the hotel was ALWAYS overflowing and onto the floor. Valet is insanely expensive at $51 a night. Use the public parking across the road. We spent way too much money on a hotel that didn't deserve it. read more

This is not a 4-star hotel; this place is both incompetent and understaffed. Our two main issues: 1) Cleaning service is a joke. We don't require a cleaning service every day of our stay, but after a few days, we usually ask the front desk to schedule one for our room. After several requests were made, the cleaning crew still hadn't shown up. Apparently they were super busy with "checked-out" rooms. Clearly, current guests are lower priority. A cleaning supervisor said they would come the following morning between 10-11, but they didn't actually come till late afternoon. The bed sheets were not changed, the bed was poorly made (see photos), and no vacuuming was done. The cleaning staff was literally in there for 5 minutes to change towels and take out the trash. Had it not been for our security camera, we would have never known that they had been there. 2) Manager was never available. Anytime something important came up, it was either "a question for the manager" or it "needed the manager's approval." But the manager was never there. We tried all hours of the day and had no luck. On the day of our check-out, a manager was supposed to be in at 7am. When that time came, we were then told that they probably won't be in for another couple of hours. This gate-keeping ensured that nothing ever got done nor answered. Some other things worth noting: - Hallways and rooms smell musty (during our stay, we overheard several guests complain and asked to change rooms) - Hotel information was not printed anywhere in the room. Instead, they provide a QR code which conveniently didn't work and neither did the phone. So you have to use your cell phone or walk down to the front desk. - WiFi is NOT free (very misleading on their website) - 24hr pantry snacks were stale - Room service is at will? Tried to order room service one night around 7pm but the attendant, who was ironically in the middle of eating something, said they couldn't find the person that takes orders for room service and that they were probably "done for the day." I thought room service ends at 10pm? The only pro to this hotel was the valet, which funny enough is a third-party company. They were all really nice, always on time, and honored the valet pricing listed from when we booked our stay (prices are now variable depending on the day). Imagine waking up at 3:00 AM drenched in sweat because the air conditioning stopped working. Naturally, I went to the front desk the next morning to find out what was wrong. Their response? "Is anyone moving around in the room?" Apparently, the air conditioner is controlled by a motion sensor. Let that sink in. The system is designed so that if nobody is moving, the AC reduces or shuts off. Which means the moment guests do the exact thing hotel rooms are intended for--sleeping--the room begins heating up. So for three nights in June, in the South, we have been waking up in an 85-degree hotel room because the AC apparently requires proof of life every few minutes to function. We came here unexpectedly for a funeral. Instead of getting rest between wakes, services, and family gatherings, we've spent our nights sweating and trying to keep the room cool enough for my mother to sleep comfortably. The experience has become absurd: Come back from a funeral? Hot room. Come back from a wake? Hot room. Come back from exploring Richmond all day? Hot room. Come back from the gym in the same building? Hot room. Walk down the hall for ice and return five minutes later? Hot room. Meanwhile, the lobby and hallways are ice cold. Whoever approved a motion-activated air conditioning system for hotel rooms clearly never stopped to consider one critical detail: Sleeping people generally don't move very much. It's difficult to imagine a worse design for a place whose entire purpose is providing guests with a comfortable place to sleep. To make matters worse, calls placed from the hotel room phone went unanswered. The front desk only responded when we called from a personal cell phone. I've stayed in budget hotels, luxury hotels, old hotels, and new hotels. I've dealt with broken AC units before. What I've never experienced is an air conditioning system intentionally designed to stop cooling occupied rooms because the guests are asleep. This isn't innovation. It's a solution to a problem that never existed, and it turned what should have been a place of rest during a difficult weekend into one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I've ever had. Only redeemable qualities are the hard working women in housekeeping and the hard working woman who greeted us for breakfast. Not to mention the young brother from Dallas who is the bartender inside the hotel that made my day my first night there. read more

I don't usually stay at Hilton's. They're not as readily available to the places I go to for work. I presume the Hilton was the same as a Marriott or a Hyatt or Sheraton. I was sadly mistaken. The check-in is at 4 PM, which is the latest check-in I've ever seen. I got there first thing in the morning and expected not to be able to check in however, I was told the earliest I could come back was 2 PM which I found questionable. So I came back at 1 PM and the people at reception said I could check in and we're much kinder than the morning front desk person. I wish I took pictures. the door had scuff marks, the sink tray that had a face towel and soap looked like it has never been clean. I did not turn on the lights brightly because I was afraid of what I was going to see. in general it's needs to be redone, the room just seems a bit old. is it a decent place to stay yes, but does it uphold the standards of a Hilton, absolutely not in my opinion. read more

Stayed here two nights. Arrived at 10 am, flew in early was told it would be $50 to check in early even though room was vacant. Checked in on the app. Put my bags into storage and took the shuttle to get some breakfast. Got into my room around noon. It was large but lacked any character. I asked for non-down pillows due to allergies 6 times and never received them. The bathroom door is heavy and does not stay open. Bathroom had a weird minty chemical smell. The ceiling of the entry to the room had watermarks. And apparently the fridge had defrosted found the carpet wet. I told housekeeping about it and nothing was done. Also the ice bucket was full of water. I get there are a lot of rooms to clean but it's a Hilton and little details aren't paid attention to. Came back during the day and the hallway was full of changed sheets and garbage bags. Again this is a Hilton I expected better. The front parking lot is a nightmare if you are waiting for someone to pick you up. The shuttle driver was very nice. They do need a direct number to the shuttle. But the service was prompt and efficient. I wish I had stayed at the Marriott across the way. I paid a lot for the room and didn't get much for it. read more

To begin, the main level of Hotel Richmond Downtown is beautiful and inviting with kind staff and good food. The front staff were positive in making an accommodation for us, last minute. The rooms however...a completely different story. The hotel room was disgusting! Nothing was clean. The hallways smelled like wet dog. There were dead bugs on the ceiling, dirty carpets, hair and gunk on the floors and all over the bathroom, the shower floor was black from people's feet, and the excessive humidity that would not go away after taking a shower was exhausting. We had to call every day, sometimes twice a day to request towels that never came and bedding for the stained pull out bed that came unmade. There is nothing less comfortable than pulling out extra bed and seeing the stains of others all over the mattress! On an additional side note, the traffic and parking around the hotel is immense and very expensive. If you are visiting the hotel bar or restaurant, then we recommend. If you wish to stay in a clean hotel, we advise you to find someplace else! read more

Utterly annoyed! Arrived at hotel and booked in room 522. When I got off the elevator, I immediately heard a woman yell "get out" twice. I froze in my steps and waited for what was going to happen next. I heard a door open but no one came out. Fortunately, there was a phone on the table across from the elevators, so I immediately called the reception desk and reported it. A few minutes later, my spouse got off the elevator and we proceeded to our room. We passed by the room that had had the commotion and saw a man's belongings outside the door, but he had not left the room. We arrived at our room diagonal from there. When we entered our room, there was a marijuana smell permeating the entire entry and esp the bathroom. I called the front desk from our room but no answer. Tried several times. After flying all day and starved, we headed downstairs to get a light bite and beverage. We stopped at the front desk and they claimed someone had been escorted off the property. The smell remained through the night. We also discovered at least 3 different people's hair on 1 shower wall alone and there was more. Gross! We finally reached the front desk and I reshared our experience. The lovely front desk person said she'd move us to room 305 and bring up the key. She did and when she arrived, she agreed that she smelled the marijuana and would report it. We moved our belongings and when we arrived in room 305, there was long strawberry blonde hair and smudges on the shower wall. Gross! Since there was cleaning staff down the hall, I didn't want to get them in trouble and asked if they could clean it. She was pleasant and agreed. She came and wiped the shower wall without rinsing but I was ok with that. Before we left for the day, we saw that the safety clip on the door was gone and the room phone was damaged, and there was no lotion in the dispenser. We stopped by the front desk and spoke to the same rep and she said they'd take care of it. When we returned after hours away, nothing had been done. Front desk still can't be reached so we went downstairs and they said it would be taken care very soon. It took many tries and back and forth to our room for the "engineer" to finally repair the door. We went to dinner in the hotel due to the snow fall. The restaurant is another story. From 7:00 pm on we kept hearing drums and loud music outside our window and noisy hotel guest. We ignored it bc it was still considered early and the so called internal noise ordinance from the hotel didn't kick in until 10 pm. At around 11:15 pm some little creeps came and banged on our door and ran off. I immediately called the front desk and they said they'd send security. I believe they came bc I kept seeing someone quietly walking back and forth in front of our door from the visible light shining from the hallway under our door. At 3:35 a.m., something super loud and heavy crashed on the floor above us startling me out of my sleep and walking and running above our heads for the next 10 minutes. This is a busy hotel and pet friendly. There must have been a dog show that weekend. I don't know what all the noise is either, but there's lots of noise in this location. It's hard to reach the front desk. The doors to the guest rooms slam and make lots of startling noise. There is trash on the floor in the corridors that isn't monitored. Woke up in the morning and got in the shower only to discover no shower soap. Grr! So I improvised and used the shampoo to wash our bodies. The windows are old and do not help to keep below freezing temps from keeping the room warm. The closet is awkward and hard to store a suitcase in or hang clothes inside. The bathroom doors won't stay open, so forget trying to do hair after a shower in the bathroom. Very disappointed. I took pics but who needs to see pics of hair on the walls. read more

Overall a very disappointing experience. First the valet staff are very understaffed, it takes hours to get your vehicle, and it costs $50. When I got my car back it smelled like cigarettes! The lobby is the only visual appealing part of this hotel. The hostess at the restaurant was so polite. The room doesn't look like the pictures posted on the site. The air conditioning wasn't working properly so the room was very hot, it took several hours for this ticket to even be addressed. There aren't any streaming services available at this hotel. I called the front desk to ask how to troubleshoot the LG tv as the buttons on the remote allowed for Netflix and Prime- however she notified me that they only had cable. Confirmed Bed Bugs, Middle-of-the-Night Evacuation, and Shockingly Poor Customer Service We stayed at the Downtown Richmond Hilton on December 30th for one night in a fairly expensive room, expecting a comfortable and professional stay. What we experienced instead was one of the worst hotel stays we've ever had. The morning after our stay, my wife woke up covered in bites on her arms, legs, back, and chest. At the time, we were genuinely unsure what they were--we have never experienced bed bug bites before and never imagined that would be the cause. After returning home and seeking medical care, a doctor confirmed they were bed bug bites. When we later reported this to the hotel, the response from staff was appalling. Rather than concern or accountability, we were met with indifference and the question: "Can you prove it?" There was no empathy, no attempt to investigate, and no sense that guest safety mattered. The attitude was dismissive and uncaring from start to finish. As if that weren't enough, at 1:00 AM, the fire alarm went off, forcing all guests to evacuate into the cold night while the fire department cleared the building. By the time we were allowed back inside, I was so cold and exhausted that I slept fully clothed--which, ironically, likely spared me from the same bites my wife suffered. The next morning's breakfast was another disappointment. The restaurant was out of multiple menu items, the potatoes were cold, and the eggs were slimy. Completely unacceptable, especially after such a stressful night. Between the confirmed bed bugs, the middle-of-the-night evacuation, the indifferent and accusatory customer service, and the poor food quality, this stay was a complete failure. This was not a budget motel--it was a Hilton charging premium rates, and it did not come close to meeting basic expectations. Great hotel beautifully furnished and amenities. Everything we needed in the room and the beds and pillows were like sleeping on a cloud. Our only issue was the shower gel was completely out so had to use shampoo to shower with. We are at the Italian restaurant at the hotel but didn't have breakfast in the hotel although the breakfast area looked lovely. Great location and there was an overnight car park opposite which was half the price of valet. Would recommend and stay again. read more

Right by convention center, walkable to the State Capitol grounds and several great restaurants. * Beautiful, historic building houses the hotel (former elegant retail store). My room was beautiful, with high ceilings and lots of space. * Great valet, front desk, and housekeeping staff -- everyone I interested with was very helpful and friendly. I had a package delivered to the hotel for my work and they had no trouble locating it and getting it to me quickly. My brother dropped off a piece of luggage I had left in his car and someone from the valet staff was kind enough to bring it to my room. (I'm sad I didn't get her name but she was very friendly and helpful.) The not-great stuff: * The gym is not very big so it gets very cramped if there are a few people in there. But it does have some good stuff packed in there -- dumbbells, two Pelotons, a few benches, several treadmills, etc. It's thin on kettlebell options. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing area but it's functional. * The hostess at the 1885 Restaurant is awesome, but the breakfast buffet was a disappointment -- so much so that I ended up not using the free breakfast buffet coupons after the first morning. Many of the buffet dishes were dirty with old egg and other food stuck to them. If you're watching what you eat and trying to eat more healthy fare (lower carb, higher protein) the healthy and fresh options on the buffet are pretty limited. It was scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, grits, oatmeal, and a few other basic items. No turkey bacon or chicken sausage, no omelets, no blueberries/blackberries/raspberries, etc. I'm glad I had a coupon for it that first day, but I had invited a Richmond friend to meet me there and I think it was $19 for him to eat (and he agreed that it was overpriced and wasn't appealing). I didn't go back. The good news is there is a Starbucks across the street with order ahead capability. The good outweighs the bad, and I would stay here again (and just avoid the gym during crowded times and take a pass on that breakfast buffet). read more

This Hilton location is centrally located in downtown Richmond. With this downtown location comes parking challenges. You can valet park for $41 a day and at that price we chose not to do that. There is a parking lot and a parking garage close by for a cheaper price, but that might not be as convenient for your needs. We used Uber to get around to our evening events and that worked well. We tried to get early check in but they were unable to make that happen (check in is at 4pm). Our 2 rooms were located on the third floor. They were very far from the elevator so if you have anyone elderly in your family then I would recommend requesting a room that isn't such a far walk. The rooms were clean and tidy. We had adjoining rooms. One room was freezing and the other was at a comfortable temperature but adjusting the thermostat took care of that after a bit. In one room we were unable to easily open the black out curtain so the room felt dark even with lamps on. There were no extra blankets in the closet (maybe that is a post Covid thing) so we had to request one. There is no glassware in the room or bathroom, only 2 plastic cups (maybe that is a post Covid thing, too?). The bathroom does have shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion dispensers as well as a hairdryer. The restaurant (1885) was fine for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is $19 or you can order from the menu. There is a Starbucks counter in the restaurant. There was one person working the coffee counter and they were extremely slow. We utilized room service for a sandwich in the late afternoon and it arrived quickly (gratuity included in the bill). read more

Hilton Richmond Downtown was a solid stay. We stayed here for a night while exploring Richmond, and overall, it was a good lodging option. With its downtown location, comfortable beds and friendly staff, there's not much to complain about. As mentioned, this Hilton hotel is located in downtown Richmond, right next to the convention center and walking distance to the state capital building and restaurants. With that said, there was a cheerleading competition occurring at the convention center while we were here, so many of the cheerleaders and their families were staying at the Hilton. Therefore, we could hear loud children running down the halls, yelling at each other, etc. The walls are thin, so you can easily hear when someone is outside your door. The room itself was good. I loved how comfortable the bed was, with a pillowtop mattress and feather duvet that was nice to curl up in. The room had a mini-fridge, AC, hairdryer, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, etc. Everything was clean and housekeeping was able to provide an extra blanket and shower caps soon after we requested. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, which is not open in the morning. However, we ate at the hotel's dining room area where they have a breakfast buffet for $20. It's not a huge selection, but they did have an omelette station, with a very friendly chef who would take your order and deliver it to your table. The staff at Hilton Richmond Downtown were nice. After traveling, I wanted to get settled in and get some rest but after check in my room key did not work. I had to go back down to the front seat to have to program another room key. My room was very spacious. The location was close to a lot of restaurants and businesses. I did not have to go far for anything. The only thing that irritated me about my stay was the fire alarm that went off at 2 AM. It was beyond my control but it would have been nice to receive communication about the fire alarm and when to return to the building. All guests were all over the place. There was a lot of confusion. Once everyone evacuated it started to rain. No one from the staff or fire department told us when to return to the building. After being outside for more than 30 minutes guests greeted annoyed and started going back to their rooms. Some of the guests never made it out. read more

There was a limit in the shower for temperature control! No hot running water!!! Horrible. I would never recommend, unless they want to start charging a campsite fee vs hotel fees. No one serviced our room until we asked numerous times and then it didn't matter as we just wanted to get the hell out of there so we could go home and shower. read more

Why was the hot tub colder than the pool??? I chose this location specifically to use the hot tub.

We stayed here during a 3 day trip to Richmond, and were very content with the hotel. All the service staff and valets were very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Our view was into an inner courtyard, with just a single window looking onto other hotel rooms, though I can't say for sure if our view would have been dramatically better on another side of the hotel. Since we wanted to spend our time seeing the city anyway, we weren't really upset about it. As for the location, we were able to walk to the canal walk which was very nice, there was good access to (free!) buses, and rideshare around the city from the hotel was very affordable. There are a couple coffee shops and a few restaurants near the hotel, but we got the feeling that downtown Richmond had seen better days. The shower took about a minute to get hot but stayed very hot, so no real complaints there. No ventilation fan in the bathroom, otherwise the room was modern and comfortable. From check in to check out, it was a horrible experience. 1. Part of our group didn't get our rooms until 430 pm, even though the frontdesk staff said the room would be ready soon. Screw the early check in. You'll be waiting in the lobby for a while. 2. Frontdesk staff were rude and didn't seem to know what they were doing. 3. NO PARKING unless you decide to pay for valet! Otherwise, you park at a small "city" parking lot ACROSS from the hotel and pay $10+ a day. If you're lucky to find a spot... good thing it didn't rain during our stay. 4. There was no DND door sign, so the cleaning lady came in while we were out for breakfast when we requested for a late checkout. We felt like we couldn't even lay on the beds bc they were nicely made. Shortly after returning to the room, she knocked on the door and we felt like we were being rushed to leave and it wasn't even time to check out! 5. Our room did NOT have a microwave, coffee maker, safe, iron/board in the room. There is a microwave located by the ice machine. I guess the hotel is trying to save money by not having these items in the room? 6. ABSOLUTE WORST. For $200+/night, this is not worth it. Definitely not recommended. Your hard earned money will be wasted on such an establishment. Multiple amenities were down during our stay. The pool and hot tub were drained and we specifically booked this stay for the hot tub. We paid $350 per night for this. The breakfast we paid for was supposed to be full service with Starbucks coffee. However, when we showed up for breakfast we were told it was only continental breakfast today and that Starbucks "wasn't here yet". It has felt like this place has been scamming us the entire time we've been here and the staff apparently "can't do anything" about it. Save your money and your dignity. read more

Valet- The staff was very helpful in the evening and during the day when I needed my car. Staff:Everyone I've came in contact with have been very pleasant to speak to. Whether a hello, a head nod, or if I needed anything--this goes for the wonderful cleaning ladies I ran into in the hallways! Room Cleanliness: This needs a little work, I understand there are guidelines to what is being cleaned or changed but for example, last time I was here someone spilled something red and sticky on the walls. It was still on the wall, on the comforter, and in the fridge. Second time I'm here, the comforter has fresh makeup residue. I noticed after I woke up because I was exhausted last night and I didn't have any make up on so it couldn't have been mine. Rooms are pretty dusty, but I always bring wipes with me and clean off things I am using or placing my items on. Bathroom shower curtains may need to be changed too, especially when the bottom of them start turning pink. Overall, it wasn't horrible. At least nothing horrendous for me to complain about, because I've seen worse and these are little things you can take care of yourself. Pool/Gym: Clean, & well maintained Vending machine: Although there's a smart card/phone reader, it doesn't work. Restaurants: There's an area opened in the morning time for coffee and breakfast. Pretty basic, but a little pricey. There's a bar area that has pretty good food, I don't know what time they close. There's also an Italian restaurant connected to this hotel, it's okay. I ate there last time I came to visit. My taste buds may be different from yours, the staff was amazing but the food was okay. This is my second time staying at this hotel. The first time, it wasn't so great. The water in my room would not stay at a decent temperature so I could shower. If the sink turned on and the shower was running at the same time, the temperature was affected. Fast forward to my second time at this hotel. My water temperature is working great, and that was my only main concern when I was checked in. Nice hotel, indoor pool is on the second floor. So if you're like me and prefer to be on the same floor as the pool for the kid's sake, then request the second floor :) read more

Great location. Very nice hotel with great rooms. I got a suite and that room is the size of some apartments I've been in. Many restaurants in the immediate area. They also offer rides to restaurants or anything within about a miles or so. They have a nice restaurant. This was an old high end, department store, back in the day. It has a ton of history. I really enjoy hotels like this. If the walls could talk. Easy access on and off the highway. The people who work here are all very nice, professional and courteous. Everything about this hotel was good. I enjoyed everything about this hotel and my stay. I highly recommend. read more

Just two nights at this property, which is located in central downtown Richmond. It is close to the Capitol area, to the convention center and to Richmond's major hospital area. The hotel has a shuttle bus and they will run you around town, if it's within two miles. This service was super useful for me, for sure! I had a very nice and quiet room on the fifth floor that overlooked the parking lot and some downtown. Not much of a view but it was undisturbed by hallway noise or neighbors with only the occasional siren of a police car or ambulance going by. The room was clean though the bed was a little soft for my preferences. Crisp sheets and plenty of pillows. Lots of power outlets and the work desk was comfortable. As this is a full service Hilton, they have an inside restaurant, bar and concierge lounge. I am a Diamond in Hilton's program so I made use of the lounge for breakfast twice. Standard eggs and a breakfast meat with juices and yogurts and breads for toasting. A very good coffee machine and coolers with soft drinks. Hilton Downtown is a great hotel! Here's why: 1) Location: It's located in downtown Richmond just a few blocks from the convention center, historic downtown, and the Canal Walk. It's so easy to walk anywhere you need including to restaurants, bars, and several pharmacies! 2) Service: The staff are amazing from the front desk people to the cleaning crew. Each greet you with a genuine smile and are helpful when needed. 3) Clean: The rooms and space are very clean. 4) Amenities: There's a sizeable gym with treadmills and weights and a large swimming pool on the second floor. The first floor has a cafe, restaurant/bar, and the executive lounge (with amazing food!). 5) Space: It's a large hotel in a historic building. There's on-site parking, but the public parking garages a few blocks north on 5th Street are cheaper. We'd gladly stay at this Hilton again! read more
