There was one major difference this time, I was referred to THIS amazing surgeon! The staff, from start to finish and front to back, are perfect. I was so nervous and miserable but after my consultation I felt much more confident. They got my prescriptions sorted out and prepped me for what to expect on the day of my surgery (1 week, a very quick turnaround). The actual surgeon is the BEST medical professional I've ever interacted with. No exaggeration. On the day of my extractions he explained everything that was going to happen and really put my mind at ease. They knocked me out so efficiently I don't remember even feeling funny, I simply woke up with everything done! Leaving, I received a take home kit with all the info I needed, an adorable penguin ice pack to use on my jaw, lip balm to help with dry lips, and a device to spray medicine or saltwater on the extraction sites. They also called the next day to check on my progress. With the promise that I could always call with questions or concerns, our business was concluded. Honestly, I'm so grateful for the care I received here. I'm also glad that I'm now a patient here, If I ever need a similar service there's no question I'd come back here.

Mostly because of the pain and possibility of receiving news that is unsettling or downright scary. So when Thanksgiving loomed around the corner and I felt some sharp pains around the back of my jaw, I instinctively knew that most likely it was time to visit my dentist and see an oral surgeon check on my wisdom teeth. Sure enough, all 4 impacted teeth needed to be removed, otherwise, my grills would be looking worse off than a loose jigsaw puzzle. I was referred to Dr. LaTocha by my dentist and a couple of friends of mine who had gone to him. Even though perhaps he might be a bit on the gruff side and somewhat scary with his remarks (sorry, I don't have perfect gums/teeth - genetics do play a part and I do brush and floss), overall, I was satisfied with the surgery results and came away f without experiencing any pain. Yes, the inside of my mouth/cheeks were torn up from the surgery and it was a much bloodier mess than I anticipated, but as a patient, I thought the overall experience was smooth. I didn't have any pain after the surgery nor did I have need to use my prescription Vicodin. The ibuprofen was sufficient. When I sensed an infection and part of my jaw was swollen, his office was quick to get me in and have an antibiotic prescribed to me. Dr. LaTocha shares offices in several locations throughout Lake County, so he is a journeyman of sorts. You just have to make sure he's at the office that you prefer, or be willing to be wherever he is. His office staff are nice enough and the facilities are well-maintained. He does accept all major insurance and does have affordable payment plans, I think, for those not insured.

They will make you as comfortable during the process too. No rushing through the process - from the time the procedure is discussed to the time you leave the procedure chair. I had a few estimates done prior to the first few visits with my children and Dr. Oltean is in fact "in-line" with other Oral Surgeons in the area. My kids have to be dragged to any Doctors and they said they would not hesitate going back, nor would I! Every process has been treated with the utmost comfort and care. The operation was fast,and I only had very mild pain and bleeding on the first day. I didn't have to take any of the painkillers that I had prepared before the surgery. I did using the frozen pea to cold patch the surgical area constantly for the first 24 hours and warm patch after. After 24 hours, I only had a little bit of discomfort and no swelling. By third day I was basically feeling fine. It's been three weeks since the surgery. The only thing I need to do is avoid crushing and hard food, and wait for another two months for it to heal. Dr. Tatch is out of dental Network, and he was on vacation anyway, so I decided to check out a different (rather new) in-Network surgeon 3 miles from my home, and that guy gave me a page of "smoke and mirrors" with "big discounts" and a bunch of "IF"s and contingencies and additions, and that's before new implants, so I went to NorthShore Center for consultation anyway, and... OMG,.. I met Dr. Yost Smith, a very kind, patient, competent, intelligent, and detailed doctor, and I was so impressed that I scheduled my implants removal and bone graft right away for the next day, and - Attention! - their plan/estimate was lower than the other so-called "in-Network" guy. Next night something in my mouth woke me up - it was my 2 fused implants that fell out on their own. Dr. Smith was very skillful and patient again answering my new questions, and he never charged me for implants removal, no games or questions asked. The staff has been always amazing for the last 20-25 years, but this time I met a dozen new associates who were very caring, friendly, and skillful. Wow, what a great experience! I was expecting the doctor to be the one telling me all the important details later on (which he did), but it was awesome to see that the other staff were also involved in making sure that I knew what going to happen, as well as answering all the questions I had since this was my first visit in what seemed like ages (and trust me, they could tell). Doctor Hernandez himself was awesome. For the first appointment he did a routine deep cleaning and then went over the results of the x-rays and carefully talked me through the different procedures that I could undergo and the pros and cons of each one. He thoroughly explained everything and his years of experience clearly came through I the way he talked. I ended up getting an extraction done, and he was just as involved in making sure I knew what was going to happen and how to take care following the procedure. I had reservations about going to the dentist before my first visit to Doctor Hernandez's office, but this man quickly dispelled all that. I have been seeing her since November, 2023 to correct a very neglected mouth. She has the vision and foresight to know how to correct my problems (crossbite and multiple broken teeth). She has an extensive range of professional colleagues for referrals, if needed (orthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons). My last appointment was a long 6 hours in the chair, and much of that time was spent laughing and sharing stories. (Who laughs and jokes while in the chair at the dentist?! Her hygienist team is always friendly, appropriately admonishing, and when they discovered an issue, as discreet as possible until Dr Konz confirmed their suspicions. I miss that office. Great work.
