Two single day trips visiting gems on both sides of the Delaware River. This past season, I did two separate day trips with Hines tours. Both trips began in Northwest NJ & ended in PA; one of the trips then made a stop in NJ afterwards. The first trip was to Abraham Staats House South Bound Brook, NJ which dates back to the Revolutionary War.  Even as a NJ native, I never knew this place existed. The place was fascinating with period rooms, artifacts, and a performer on an instrument called a Hammered Dulcimer. We were then treated to a battle re-enactment done by actual descendants of the Revolutionary War.  We then went to Ringing Rocks Park in Upper Black Eddy, PA. We first walked on a trail leading us to a beautiful waterfall. What makes the park unique is the park's boulder rocks that do actually ring when you tap them with a hammer (hammers not included but some guests brought their own). On the second trip, the first stop was in Sussex county NJ at Sterling Mine Mineral Museum. This had been a working zinc mine until 1986 and opened as a Museum in 1989. We first toured the museum which housed their extensive gem collection. The museum space had been repurposed from the miners' locker room and had preserved the original lockers and the shower sprouts used by the miners. Our phenomenal tour guide then took us through the underground mine explaining the minerals and equipment used in the mines. We were immersed in the life of a daily miner including the demographics of the miners, different job specialties in the mine, and how miners were matched with their jobs in the mines. Our guide also explained the importance of zinc in our everyday lives and I now have added zinc to my daily regimen & feel better for that piece of advice. Our guide described how brilliant fluorescent minerals were accidentally discovered & we were treated to a brilliant light show both in the mines & at the Florescent Mineral Museum. After lunch, we drove over the Delaware River to Bushkill Falls in Poconos PA.These Falls, dubbed the Niagara Falls of PA, is a popular destination boasting 8 Waterfalls. Nik led a tour for those who wanted to join and hit all the waterfalls. Otherwise people could visit the falls at their own pace. Each waterfall was more spectacular than the last. There was plenty of viewing areas with places to sit and be mesmerized by the falls. Bonus that we saw the falls on a perfect sunny fall day.  During the first trip, on our way back to NYC, we then made a bonus stop at Red Hill Museum in Clinton NJ. This museum is highly photographed and had been on my bucket list but hadn't had the opportunity to visit as it's not too accessible by public transportation. We toured the mill and learned about the family who owned the mill, the industrial process, and life in the 1800s at the mill. For example, we saw a model school house which had listed on the wall not only the rules for students but also the rules to which rules teachers had to adhere during those times. The town itself was quaint and picturesque. I cannot recommend Hines Tours enough for a dosage of adventure, history, education, and fun. read more

110% recommend taking a tour with Hines Tours NYC at lease once. Past September 2019 was my 3rd trip with Hines Tours. We always meet in Manhattan, near Macy's or on the upper East side. It is always a small group around 10 other people. Often there are returning customers (and that was comforting to me) Nik our host & driver is there to meet us early. After we sign in, we board a mini bus then Nik always gives us a light breakfast snack like bagels & cheese, juices & fruits. On this day trip with Hines Tour trip we went to New Jersey. The first stop was an ALPACA FARM! Gosh, what beautiful animals. They look like live teddy bears. We had plenty of time on this tour to feed them, pet them, take loads of fun selfies with them, then visit the gift shop. After the alpaca farm, Hines Tours took us on a short drive to visit the Popcorn Park Animal Shelter. We saw lions, tigers & bears. Oh my! And then to top off the day, we took once last short drive and visited the Waterloo Village. A great way to relax and stroll thru this peaceful historic green space. 2. One day trip, Dolphin Watch and Harbor Safari on 08/09/20 with Hines Tour. A drive away of the city is the best choice to enjoy life in this reclusive time we are living now in a safe way. After following all procedures and protocol implemented by the government. We visited Cape May for the day to enjoy a day in nature. Once there, we drove around to the beach area that has a lookout point and trails. In an almost empty beach, we soaked our fee in the water and appreciated the sun, the ocean breeze and the good company. At the lookout point we walked around and embraced the wonder of nature and the local wildlife. Later, we went to pick up lunch and get ready for our trip in a boat to watch the Dolphins and probably some whales. It was wonderful, the ocean and the joy when we spotted the Dolphins. Even the captain put an extra effort to drive us further into the sea to see more. Nik as always did his part as an excellent guide in this tour. Thanks for the freedom. I went on the Christmas in Hudson Valley tour this month and found it to be absolutely refreshing! I am a big Downton Abbey fan so I totally loved touring Mills Mansion. I wasn't familiar with it so it was a huge treat for me. Christmas Village had me feeling nostalgic. Growing up on Long Island I loved going on school field trips and family outings such as this. It reminded me of Old Bethpage. Nik always is very thoughtful when planning outings and adventures. There is a little bit of something for everyone. Another highlight was touring the holiday lights. They were amazing and much more than I imagined. Hines tours reminds us the importance of exploring, playing, learning, and having fun. We put our trust in the tour to provide us with transportation, fun, information, food and lodging. They do not disappoint in any of these aspects. The itinerary hand out and the maps were appreciated. The tour was well organized. The time given for each stop was more than sufficient. It was great that we were able to explore on our own at our own pace. Nik our guide is very considerate and ensures satisfaction in all that is offered. Our Hines tour with Nick was an action-packed, fun-filled day that came just in time to forget the trying times of pandemic. First stop was the Museum Village Holiday Event in Upstate NY, then the Alpaca Farm, followed by a couple of Christmas lights displays. Nick is detailed oriented and thoughtful. I loved my trip! I really needed a solo getaway. We went to Seahawk Mountain and to Crystal Cave in PA. I love hiking and I feel safer being with a tour guide. You can walk on a separate trail alone if you wish. I'm also a bird lover so I really enjoyed the presentation about Owls, Hawks, and Falcons. Although the day was foggy, it was a calming and beautiful hike. To me the fog was beautiful. We were able to see clearly the landscape of trees from a viewpoint. The crystal cave was really great too! I especially loved the gift shop at this location. The tour was organized and on time. Breakfast and lunch included. I am definitely doing another trip again! read more

Hines Tour to Arizona and Utah, November 5 -- 9, 2022 was excellent value, had a comprehensive, detailed itinerary to Hoover Dam Overlook walk, Grand Canyon Deer Farm, Sedona Hikes, Grand Canyon Bus to 9 viewing sights, also Hines Van drove to another viewing site, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Sandal Trail, Horse Bend for sunset. Unable to visit Antelope Canyon and Coral Pink Sand Dunes due to heavy snow, instead visited many more interesting sites. Went on the Amish Village tour & it was amazing. Loved that Nik had everything ready to go & organized. I had a great time - loved learning, seeing & experiencing some of the things that make the Amish so unique. I had preconceived ideas of their way of life but learned I was misinformed. Loved the opportunity to sit up from in the buggy with Eli & he told us stories of his life. I was surprised that he had traveled to NYC & other places. Liked the opportunity to go to the markets to see & buy (a few) items that they make themselves. No traffic delays & an absolutely gorgeous weather day. read more

I have been on three trips with Hines Tours, a 3 day, 2 day and 1 day. All the trips every day were fun filled with multiple sites per day. Other your companies spend more time traveling then seeing sites along the way. But Nik of Hines stops for sites along route to the main destination. Also, with COVID restrictions in place Nik bent over backwards to prove food and drink and delivered breakfast to the door of the hotel. I was very impressed with how well thought out the entire trip was from the snacks to the rest stops. Nik and his girlfriend are total pros. My college friend and I went on the Catskills weekend trip and it was great. There was plenty to do and yet you could opt out and hang by the pool. The hiking was accessible and not too strenuous. I recently went on their dolphin tour trip with my 7 yr old son and it was an amazing experience! My son really enjoyed his first time seeing dolphins in the wild. My friend and I recently went on the Great Smoky Mountains trip. We visited many different parks, federal and state, hiking and seeing multiple waterfalls!
