Columbia's legacy, Hinkle's Restaurant, has stood the test of time since 1893. Although there is no longer a pharmacy, the restaurant, ice cream parlor, and general store/gift shop, Murphy's Mercantile, are still going strong. Hickle's offers an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My spinach blueberry dalaf with chicken was fresh and delicious. Hinkle's has friendly, excellent service and offers a lovely dining experience in a quaint historic venue. Free parking is provided behind Hinkle's.

Food , service, and historical significance. It does help that my wife has on her famous workout outfit with her new hightop puma's.

This is our new favorite restaurant. The Restaurant , Soda Fountain , and Mercantile are a great place to eat and shop. Very unique gifts. We stopped for lunch and my Wife always orders Breakfast. Eggs over easy, crispy Bacon, Home Fries and she loves their Toast . The Bread tastes like it's freshly baked and butter on both sides. My wife has called me a "Dirty Dawg" , so that's what I ordered; " The Dirty Dog". A grilled Hot Dog on a toasted roll, covered with fresh onions, peppers, bacon and beer mustard with a side or of battered Fries and a Pickle Spear. Delicious! You must try this place! They have great daily specials. I'm tickled they have a sandwich named after me. lol - Tim and Judy (Julie R was an excellent Server and all the other Staff who made this trip worthwhile) Don't forget to sign up for the Rewards Program.

ALWAYS a treat when we pass through or return to our home region, Hinkle's well-established restaurant continues to sparkle in its new decor (with just a few bits of tarnish in the process.) Food was fair...not exceptional. Mac and cheese and stewed tomatoes were fine. But for the rest: old fashioned standards were not in evidence and some food sat in the serving window much too long. (Check the gravy on my meatloaf photo....very heavily skimmed over. Naughty not nice!). Pot Pie was thick and very flavorful; that is...thick to a fault. Likely sat too long in the broth and 2 of our guests found it much too chewy. Malted milk shake had a decent flavor BUT the malt powder was not blended in and hung in dry clumps to the side of both my glass and the metal stirring cup in which it was prepped and brought to the table. Cherry Ice Cream soda was not even close to the original that we've enjoyed for the past 60 years. In fact, I had to show the soda-jerk (no disrespect) a photo of what it was supposed to look like...even though the menu description did a fairly decent job of that. AND no cherry on top - even after correcting. (Better training definitely needed.) The fried corn fritters were grossly undercooked...please don't serve raw batter to your guests. (Again see my photo.) Service was sub-par and food was delivered to our table of 7 friends for lunch in fits and spurts. We'll most likely return (especially having come here for so many, many years)....but 2 stars have fallen from their original crown of 5. Servers were somewhat "scattered" albeit polite when they did show up.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. Their outdoor terrace overlooks a scenic garden area that looks like it might even host weddings--it's that picturesque. The ambiance is peaceful, charming, and ideal for a relaxing weekend meal, whether you've just finished a bike ride or are simply looking for a quiet dining spot in Marietta. The menu had a lot of fresh, well-crafted options, and the cocktail list was fun and inventive. I tried the lavender lemon drop, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lavender complemented the classic citrusy flavor--an elegant twist on a traditional drink. For dinner, I went with the jalapeño cheddar burger, which was flavorful, juicy, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and satisfying, while my mom and sister-in-law each opted for different sandwiches paired with house salads. They raved about the house-made vinaigrette, which had a fresh, tangy balance. We also started with the whipped feta dip and gouda mac and cheese--both were delicious. The feta was creamy and flavorful, and the mac had a rich, smoky bite to it. Our Entrees looked so delicious that I forgot to snap a photo beforehand. Service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and her suggestions were spot on. In terms of value, I was really impressed. With so many places these days serving tiny portions at high prices, Railroad House Inn stands out as a restaurant that delivers quality, fresh ingredients, and generous portions at a fair price. All in all, this was a five-star experience. Great food, beautiful location, warm service--I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially after enjoying the nearby Northwest Lancaster County River Trail.

We came across blue-collar restaurant, but when we pulled in, I was surprised to see it was located inside a golf country club. I almost turned around, but my daughter encouraged us to give it a try--and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant was beautiful inside, with a peaceful view overlooking the golf course that made for a really relaxing lunch. The food was excellent. I ordered the salmon with vegetable risotto special, and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. What really stood out, though, was the service. My daughter is nursing, and my granddaughter has soy and dairy allergies, so we had to be very careful with her meal. Our waiter, Matt, was outstanding. He went above and beyond, checking with the kitchen multiple times to make sure everything was completely free of soy and dairy. He helped put together a custom salad bowl for her, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, we had such a lovely experience--from the food to the atmosphere to the attentive service. I would absolutely recommend this spot and would gladly return.

I visited as part of a work related event and was able to enjoy both the bar and dining room. The bar selections were first-rate and while not extensive they were well-considered. The hotel lobby and bar are welcoming and represent entree to this small eatery. This place features local farm items so the menu is always subject to change. We went to celebrate an anniversary (not ours) and it was a nice welcome for the server to offer the celebrants complimentary prosecco. From there, it was an adventure. Three of us had the shrimp and grits, which, uniquely, were not the typical southern dish but an earthy creation featuring very barley forward grits that also included very chunky carrots and other enhancements I am at a loss to identify. Good, but a surprise for my southern shrimp and grits-expecting palate. The shrimp were pretty overcooked and detracted from the barley-enhanced grits. Two enjoyed the wedge salad. For mains, two enjoyed the shrimp bisque, and the pan fried boneless chicken breast. I had the meatloaf and found it to be a bit gamier than expected likely due to using grass fed beef. The mushroom gravy was nice despite some of the mushrooms having gone over the rainbow bridge. The tallow fried potatoes were luscious despite one being undercooked. The desserts were interesting and all supposedly made in-house. I had the mint chocolate chip ice cream which I found somewhat grainy and crystallized and very lacking in mint flavor. The flourless chocolate cake will likely shock you with its petiteness, but trust me, it packs a wallop of richness that will probably satisfy you. The tres leches cake and honey lavender crème brûlée got high marks. Overall we all liked the ambiance, and were somewhat disappointed with the food. 3.5* rounded down to 3*.

Food: I got the Olive burger platter. Burger (bacon, cheese, LTO, house sauce served with coleslaw, large portion of fries and a cup of soup). Everything was good (sides and burger bun/ toppings). Unfortunately where it disappointed was the burger itself. Then she said, "you know who does great tuna salad? It's a diner over in Columbia!" But she couldn't remember right there what it was called. I googled diners in Columbia and I read back to her she shouted , "Black Olive"!!!! I'm here with two friends but didn't order tuna as it's breakfast and so I ordered eggs Benedict with turkey sausage instead of the Canadian bacon, and lemon on the side since I love my hollandaise sauce tangy. I get my order but not as I requested. Canadian bacon is in there and turkey sausage on a side plate. The hollandaise sauce looks like melted cheddar and no lemon on the side. Worst of all I cut into the poached eggs and they're too hard. Well I was just too disappointed in their skill level to ask them to redo. Our amazing waitress was trying to talk me into ordering something else if I didn't want a redo. She had a manager come by and I told him what I ordered and how I got it. It was ok I didn't want to trouble anyone. He insisted they'd get it right so I gave in. A few minutes later he presents me with jiggly poached eggs on top of turkey sausage and wedges of lemon. I will say I was impressed the second time around, though the hollandaise sauce needs work! Here's a quick blender recipe Ingredients: 3 egg yolks, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pinch salt, 1/2 cup hot melted butter. No need to make it from powder. You "can" taste the difference! Over all very happy with the cleanliness, service, attention and will be back mid March for that tuna sandwich. Mmm can't wait!
