The warehouse manager is a complete rude scumbag, and needs to be fired. No customer service or people skills whatsoever. I was delivering a piece of freight there, and waited at the back of my truck for them to come over with the forklift, like always. He looked at me and completely lost it saying I was a lazy POS for not using the lift gate. I tried to explain that I could definitely use the lift gate, but it would be an extra charge, so we don't use it without the request of the customer. He then walked over and pulled the freight off onto the ground like a madman. When I gave his attitude back to him, he proceeded to threaten me with violence. If he still works there, be wary of this loose cannon if you're a driver delivering freight. Hopefully the owner wised up and fired him. read more

Hinkley's lighting is the real deal - a retail outlet at the top of its game and the customer service is outstanding. I went there because my spouse and I are finishing up our home and of course we need lighting. Well, Skylar was knowledgeable and savvy and friendly and dedicated. He took several hours with me and never once got tired of my questions or hesitations. Hinkley's is not just a retail outlet though. This place can renovate old fixtures AND fabricate lights from scratch. Seriously - show them a picture and they can probably build it for you. It has been a long time since I had such good customer service at a retail outlet. But Skylar and Hinkley's delivered the best of what I needed. Unfortunately, overtime, we have realized the lights are inferior construction, cheap powder, coating, and zero customer service. Many other high-quality options available through other companies. A big shoutout to Sam, at Hinkley's. I wanted to change to LEDs on a chandelier bought here 15 years ago and wasn't sure about a few of the bulbs. Totally love this store and the employees. Built a new home and went into pick out chandeliers. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. Dana was exceptional to work with. She spent lots of time with me and understood what I was aiming for. I Showed her a few pictures of lighting that I like and she was able to pick catalogs that they were in and had them ordered. Worst customer service/communication. Not once did I get a call regarding the status of my order. I ordered my light over 90 days ago. I had to keep calling the store to find out about my order. I was told it was in finally. Went to pick it up and I was told it was on back order. Called again they said it was in route. 10 days later I call to see if it arrived. They have no status. In the meantime they charged me 90 days ago. read more

Several years ago we bought a number of expensive Hinkley outdoor lights and they are great products. Recently, a contractor broke a glass pane in one of the outdoor lights. I called Hinkley for a replacement and they said it was no longer available but the woman said she would see if they could cut a pane for me. Never got a call back. I would expect more from them. read more

I have driven past this store for years and always thought it was probably going to be too expensive. I finally stopped and went in, and I am so glad I did!! I was warmly greeted and offered coffee, water and place to sit. Sean listed to what I was looking for and proceeded to help me go through several books to find exactly what I needed. He let me leave and went to work finding out what was in stock and how long shipping was going to take. We placed the order and Sean called me as everything came in so I could have it installed ASAP. I talked to Jennifer at Hinkley's last week to have a repair done on a lamp. She told me the simple part would cost $400.00, when I asked if that was a "minimum" as it seemed excessive she said I was being punished because I did not buy the lamp from them in the first place. I told her that her customer service skills were poor she stated that I was not to contact them for over 20 weeks if I wanted the part because they were busy. What pricks. read more

We purchased 18 of Hinkley's outdoor sconces and our electrician installed them on a new house we built. The fixtures are beautiful but we have now discovered - 3 years later - that when a light bulb burns out, someone has to unscrew 6 screws on each sconce that is now hanging high on an outdoor wall in order to pull a cover away from the base to change the bulb. I suppose that if Hinkley's had installed LED bulbs, at least the incredible hassle of bulb changing would be postponed for 10 years or more but they used incandescent bulbs. When I informed Hinkley's customer support of this poor design feature, they admitted the design flaw but refused to share in the cost of hiring someone to change the bulbs. Who ever heard of designing a fixture so that it would take 20 minutes to change a light bulb? Clearly, the engineers at this company gave no consideration to changing bulbs. I would not trust this company to do intelligent light fixture design. read more

Just bought a new house that we are gutting and redoing. I was excited to start the process of some custom lights and revamping some of the existing lights. I headed to Hinkley's. I was totally disappointed by the lack of salesmanship and willing to work with me. I explained to the woman we just bought a large Tuscan home and are excited to "de-Tuscan" it. The house needs all new lights/ fans as well and was hoping to paint a few of the existing. Her response was to try again next summer. She completely blew me off... I didn't even know what to say. I asked her if there was a waiting list I could get on for painting her response was no maybe in the springtime. They are too busy for new customers. I told her I had a 12 week time period before our house was completed then asked about buying directly through the store on new lights. She didn't attempt to show or sell me one thing. Completely wrote me off as if I was not a worthy customer. She told me I could maybe get a light fixture in 4 weeks if the designer has it. I was looking at her like uhm okay I can easily wait four weeks. They had no desire to sell to me or willingness to help me. I am in the design industry (architecture) and shocked at this treatment. I can't imagine talking to a potential client like that. Everyone is busy but there is NO EXCUSE for treatment like this. Hinkley just lost our 7500 sf house project of new lighting and I will not be recommending them to others. read more
