    Box #1 (Sushi, Sashimi, Maki)

My tummy definitely feel satisfacted with this bento box. Because I love sashimi and for sure salmon too. Even the price is a bit pricey but they serves fresh and thick sashimi, sushi and roll with less rice and also comes with hot miso soup. The quality is quite good and I don't mind to go there again to try other dishes.

After couple people who have recommended this place , I decided to give a try. Honestly, it's below my expectation. Freshness: it's like buffet quality. It's not bad but it's not fresh. The fresher the sashimi is the less fishy the taste will be and the nicer the texture will be. After trying this platter. Some of them are ok (2.5/5) some of them are off. It's inconsistent. Rice: Rice is 100% more important than the fish. Sushi is all about rice. I would give this at 1/5 star. I believe it's undercook and and seasoning was off. Overall it's a good value , 60 dollars = 60 piece. However, I would rather pay 60 dollars for like 48 quality pieces somewhere else.

Been to this place a few times now, but the experience has been on a decline. The first time we visited almost a year ago, food was delicious! The latest one last week not so much. The place is kinda old and run down, menus are super old and dirty and the restaurant smells musty. I really hope all hygiene standards are being maintained, although we have never been sick from the food yet. The miso soup is always good. Vegetable tempura is misleading as it's only sweet potato tempura. The tofu is decent. For my main, the chicken teriyaki was a little over cooked, the chicken was a bit chewy. The salad is good, however their dressing not as good as it used to be. The sushi was spicy veggie but it was more of fermented veggies than spicy ones. Service is ok, it was hard to flag them down , even though the restaurant was pretty empty at 530 on a Wednesday. Not a bad place but not the best either.

We wanted a quick bite before the basketball game and my husband had heard good things about this place. I was hesitant after reading the reviews but kept an open mind. The place was crowded and had people wIting outside. Some tables were reserved. We were told we would have a 15-20 minute wait but we were seated in 5 minutes. It took the server a while to come to us (it was very busy) but we waved her over and mentioned we were in a rush. She took our order and could not give an estimated time that we would get our food. The food arrived within around 12-15 minutes. Hubby really enjoyed his cod and spicy sushi. I had the tempura yam rolls. They were huge in size and fell apart as it took a few bites to finish one....I'm sure the assembly wasn't perfect because we rushed them. It tasted great though. I know tempura is not gluten free but I was craving yam rolls. They did give me organic gluten free soy sauce (tamari). We completed our meal and they brought us a delicious hot ginger cinnamon tea to end. Service was friendly and we were out in plenty of time to get to the game.

Tucked away in a strip plaza in the middle of suburbia between a florist and dry cleaners is this gem! About 4 years ago, I was introduced to Hinote by a friend who had recently traveled to Japan. She says this was the one of the few restaurants in the GTA where she trust to find high quality Japanese food... and she's right! (Since my introduction to Hinote, I've also been to Japan - and I do still think it's one of the best restos for Japanese cuisine in GTA.) It is a bit pricier, but the quality can't be beat compared to other local restos! I've brought many friends here and they agree! The sashimi is very fresh and literally, melts in your mouth. The rolls comes in pretty large portions. and are presented in an appealing fashion. My favourites rolls: are rainbow, spicy salmon, and spider. Their noodle dishes are very good too. It's a really small dining room - so make reservations as around dinner time it's packed. It's a nice intimate space for family dinners, or dates. Be warned though: service is slow... but the food is worth the wait. So leave extra time around the meal if you're planning other activities around it.

Had sushi here again, almost a year after I visited. Honestly one of my favourite places in Mississauga for relatively cheap and high-quality sushi! Unlike Sushi Tei, where the fish is dry, chewy, and stringy, the salmon here is so moist, flavourful, and literally melts in your mouth! I thoroughly savoured and enjoyed my sashimi lunch, which cost only $12.95. On that note, the pricing is slightly odd at this place whereby curry costs more than sushi... so if you love fish like me, definitely order it here! Also, the California roll is quite good too. I thought we'd have a choice for the three pieces that come with our set (California or salmon), and though apparently not, I wasn't disappointed. Some may not like it, however, as they use quite a fair bit of avocado. Two major complaints: First, they were so busy that day that my family kind of got shafted to one side. Customer service was pretty bad, though that was mainly from one waitress only. I understand that things can get stressful, but she was quite dismissive of comments and even refused to look up to acknowledge our calling at one point. Good thing the other waitress came by with a smile. Second, and this is very minor, but I found their finger to be overly salty. Wasn't too effective as a palate cleanser, but oh well!

This is my go to place for whenever I crave sushi. If you enjoy top notch sushi, sashimi and good service I highly recommend checking this place out. It's a quaint restaurant I frequent regularly so much so that the waitstaff know my order, I usually have the same order of miso soup, green salad, salmon sashimi and spicy salmon rolls. The miso soup and green salad are good, pretty generic and comparable to those I've been served in other Japanese restaurants. The salmon sashimi are sliced very thick, very tender and taste amazing. The spicy salmon rolls are my favourite because they are filled with actual peices of fresh salmon; unlike other restaurants that add so much tempura that there is not much salmon in each peice sushi. Also Hinote's spicy salmon rolls are actually "spicy ", unlike so many other places that claim to serve "spicy " salmon rolls. Overall I've never encountered a negative experience dining in or taking out at Hinote, I recommend booking reservations beforehand as it is a small restaurant and it can get busy quick and you never wait for your table if you make a reservation ahead of time. Also, don't forget to try their signature cinnamon tea that their waitstaff offer at the end of your meal which tastes great !

It has been a few months since we visited this place, and they are obviously under new management. I have to downgrade the rating for a few simple reasons: (1) I added the Avocado Salad, and it LITERALLY was a small bowl of cubed Avocado with their dressings. The dressing was good, BUT what happened to all those other greens? (2) for the combo, switching from California roll to salmon roll is now another $1. Now, to be fair, it is a full size mini-roll instead of those pathetic bite-size ones. (3) the Salmon Skin Roll USUALLY will have either BBQ or Terriyaki sauce in it....but it was literally crispy skin with avocado....it was dry and not much flavouring... How disappointing.

Food: Good quality sushi! No AYCE option, only a la carte. Service: Good & straightforward service. Always greets customers warmly! Atmosphere: Cute spot for a dinner for 2-3. Wouldn't recommend for larger groups/parties. Space is small to medium sized. Recommend? Yes!

On this recent visit, the space felt more modern and brighter overall. The layout is still basically the same though - the centre tables feel more open, while the side tables along the walls feel a bit more tucked away. The family I was with still comes here pretty regularly, so they knew what to order. Overall, the sushi and other dishes were solid for what they are. One thing to note is that the rolls are on the larger side with a lot of sauces and seasoning, so it leans more "Canadianized" than traditional sushi - which is great as long as that's what you're expecting to get. Service was friendly and quick too, so I'd definitely consider coming back again when I'm in the area.

I decided to order the sashimi combo (no rice) with: 6 pieces of salmon sashimi 5 pieces of Nigerian sushi 5 pieces of dynamite roll 2 pieces of Shrimp and 3 pieces of vegetable tempura This set comes with miso soup, garden salad and rice. When i read "no rice", I literally thought the made the sushi and roll with no rice. But there were rice. I don't understand why the name of this set is sashimi combo with no rice when there were so much rice involved. The fish used were nothing unique. For the price, I thought perhaps there would be a special piece to taste. There are many Japanese restaurants that i want to try, but Tomo needs that something special for me to want to go back again.

Big mistake. On Nov 25, 2025, I ordered the MC5 Maki Combo (24 pcs) -- California roll, dynamite roll, spicy salmon roll. What arrived was a disaster: tired-looking sushi, off flavors, and a wasabi that came out as a strange dark green slime. I forced down a few pieces; my wife couldn't eat hers at all. To make matters worse, I was burping an odd flavor for hours afterward. This wasn't just disappointing -- it was unacceptable. After years of giving this place chances, I'm done. Sushi should never feel like a gamble, and I won't be rolling the dice here again.

The caterpillar role is pretty fat and so each piece is a mouthful. The maki are smaller, nicely rolled, and well balanced. It's a very nice assortment. They use a good amount of topiko in the sushi, compares to some places that skimp or skip it all together. We ordered by phone and pick up was ready in under 30min. As per covid restrictions, only 1 person is allowed inside at a time. The entrance opens to a pick up window. Not much else going on inside. Very happy with the delicious meal!
