Boy where to start. I guess the best thing to say is we will not be back. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had at a ridiculously high price. Look at the picture and see that I got a few french fries covered with about 2 tablespoons of cheese sauce And some barely cooked onions and peppers for eight dollars! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Was in town for a quick trip and stopped in for lunch. Staff was very friendly and helpful since I had not been there before. I used to go here before the main location burned down and the food was so good, plus the restaurant had a large tree in the middle of it. I glad to see the change of location did not affect their bar b que. Was told that they close anywhere between 8:30pm and 9pm, when their hours of operation are until 9pm. Totally a hidden gem at this place. If your craving great home cooking then this is the place. They have daily specials and I highly recommend them. Also they got pork rinds so make sure you grab a big ass bag of them. The people here are adorable, I fell hard for this place and looking forward to going back real soon. We were adding through Wharton on our way to Victoria today. We stopped here for lunch & are SO happy that we did that! We both ordered chicken strips. Talk about yummy! The strips were crispy on the outside & delicious on the inside! My husband had a salad, green beans, & cornbread with his meal. He swears that those green beans were better than his grandma used to make! I had cole slaw, baked potato casserole, & homemade bread with mine. That potato casserole was amazing!! Thank you to the nice lady who took our order over the phone! You were so sweet to me & I felt like I was talking to someone in my family. We'll be back again, for sure! 5 star alert ! I got the seafood platter special and it was absolutely amazing! Food: the best Mac and cheese I have ever had. It's full of flavor and tastes really good. They poured their heart an school into that Mac and cheese. Every bite was amazing. The green beans were equally as good and full of home cooking love. The fried shrimp are so fresh and full of flavor! I really enjoyed the shrimp. The boudain balls were extremely good as well. Hush puppies were good too! The onion rings were good. The fried fish was amazing. I really enjoyed all the food I had. I just remembered as I typed this. They forgot my dam corn bread lol I would have loved to try it lol. They forgot it. Haha. I've eaten here many times over the last 5 weeks and every time has been great... except the last time. My last visit was just terrible. Everything tasted like water. No flavor at all. If I didn't know any better I'd say that they tried to stretch everything and just added water to the mac'n cheese, the mashed potatoes, and the greens. Nothing was seasoned. Salt did NO justice. 1st timer,,,,we pulled into the parking lot at 5pm and there was no customers there . I was weary that was a sign that no one like them. We took a chance and walked in ,,,this was the cleanest restaurant i have seen in a WHILE!! From floor to ceiling,, no dust, no dirt. VERY cute county decor. I was very impressed with the environment as a whole. The staff was patient and kind as we read through the whole menu written on the back board . So much to choose from . I ordered the plate pictured and my partner ordered the chicken alfredo . The food was amazing!!! The presentation was very nice, as their plates give a rustic feel as well. 30$ for 2 meals. Took a drive 45mins south of Houston to Hinze's Country Kitchen and had a great experience! The food says it best but the people were also very friendly and it was such a nice clean homey atmosphere. We sampled a variety of country cooking and it was all so tasty, scratch made, good old down home cooking from mama. Get a big bag of pork rinds to go for only 3.99! I will also be back to try out their homemade pies for dessert but also to check out the BBQ joint nearby owned by another family member.
