    Braised Spanish Chicken with Polenta

    Just took a cooking class with Sarah with my dad and it ended up being way more fun than I expected. I thought it would be cool, but it turned into one of those random memories you're actually glad you made. Sarah is super informative and explains everything in a way that actually makes sense. She's also genuinely funny, which made the whole class feel relaxed instead of awkward or stiff. The energy was great the whole time. She kept everyone involved, made it easy to ask questions, and somehow kept things fun even when we were getting hungry and lowkey impatient for the food. My dad and I were laughing most of the time, and it didn't feel forced or corny at all. The food turned out amazing, which I honestly didn't expect because... well... it was us cooking. But Sarah gives little tips and tricks that actually work, so everything came out way better than expected. We left full, happy, and feeling like we actually learned something instead of just following instructions blindly. Super fun experience to do with my dad, and I'd 100% recommend Sarah's class if you want to learn, laugh, and eat really good food at the same time.

    Hipcooks hosted our work team event and it was a great experience. I have done several cooking classes before and this one was by far the most engaging and well ran. Sarah was great and made the experience fun and entertaining. I would definitely recommend them for any organized or corporate event.

    I have done a few cooking classes at Hipcooks. We did a team building / holiday cooking class for 15 of us and it was great! We did the holiday happy hour and made empanadas, prosciutto wrapped manchego and pears and cookies plus a cocktail. It was hands on and fun. Highly recommend for both private and group classes.

    What an amazing class!! Such a wonderful evening learning cooking techniques and meeting new friends...I highly recommend Hipcooks if you want to learn in a welcoming and fun atmosphere. Great classes and great variety.

    I found this place through instagram and decided to reserve a spot for the Eye of the Thai-ger cooking class. There was a total of 14 people including myself. Each student got a chance to participate in cooking parts of all the dishes. I really like that when we ate the dishes it was on a communal table, which made it feel a lot more personal. The instructor provided many cooking tips and educational information about the dishes during the class. I would definitely come back again. The food we cooked was delicious!

    This was my first cooking class and a great experience! Kyra was super knowledgeable and great with our group. Loreen was so nice helping us in the kitchen. The cavatelli class was a great first cooking class to take here.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The class covered all the bases of what you could learn in a beginners cooking class. I really liked my chef instructor explained things thoroughly but not overly controlling. We began with the Aji tuna on crispy rice, topped with a delicate sliver of jalapeño and crispy shallots, a perfect balance of freshness, spice, and crunch. The second course was Stefanie's famous focaccia...one sweet and one savory. The savory version featured parmesan, her homemade bread and butter, pickles from her garden, and a touch of mustard seed. The bread, made simply with flour, water, and salt, takes two to three days to create. The sweet focaccia was equally impressive, topped with brie, honey, and a guava jam made from her own garden-grown guavas... truly special. Next came the sweet potato course, made from her garden's harvest and paired with roasted pine nuts and coconut-shaved gnocchi in brown butter. The flavors were rich yet comforting, and the presentation was artistic and thoughtful. The main course... short ribs with a stunning potato gratin, was a showstopper. The short ribs were tender and deeply flavorful, garnished with delicate edible flowers from her garden, while the gratin was layered beautifully and topped with a fragrant chimichurri. Dessert was one of the best I've ever had: a sticky toffee date cake with a caramel apple sauce made from apples in her garden, served with raw cream vanilla bean ice cream. The balance of warmth, sweetness, and texture was perfection. The wine pairings, thoughtfully curated by Oscar from Sequoia Grove Winery, elevated the entire experience, from the velvety Merlot to the bold Cabernet, every sip complemented the food flawlessly. What makes Chef Stefanie so special is her warmth and authenticity. She shares her passion for food and where it comes from in a way that's engaging and educational, never pretentious. I have attended several classes at your establishment and have always had a welcoming, positive experience. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was the opposite of what I have come to expect. Our chef appeared ill-prepared for the class, which led to a disorganized environment. Furthermore, the chef was unnecessarily aggressive and yelled at participants when they were ahead of his instructions or, in my case, when I misunderstood a direction. This created a stressful, uncomfortable atmosphere rather than a fun, educational experience, which is not what we paid for. Additionally, due to the poor flow of the class, our food was cold by the time it was served to eat. I also observed that the support staff working with him appeared miserable, likely due to the stressful environment created by the chef. I believe this is important feedback for your team to address to maintain your usual high standards of service. I hope you will take steps to better prepare your instructors regarding both their preparation and their customer service skills. Although the staff knew the space had been reserved for a later group, no one gave us any advance warning that our time was about to end. A simple 10-20 minute reminder would have allowed us to finish decorating our cake and clean up properly. Instead, we were suddenly rushed to wrap everything up, and our birthday cake was not even finished. A staff member came over and told us, "You have to leave RIGHT NOW, the party has arrived," and we were essentially forced out to make room for the next group. This was especially upsetting because the cake was for a birthday and the experience meant a lot to us. What should have been a fun celebration ended in unnecessary stress and disappointment. Better communication and a little more consideration would have made a huge difference. ---------------------------- Updating my review: although our experience in the store was disappointing, the owner responded very quickly, took our concerns seriously, and resolved the issue in less than a day. I really appreciate their professionalism and efficiency. Thank you for addressing the problem so promptly and for being willing to improve the customer experience moving forward.
