I went to Hirsch Pipe and Supply in Glendale California today with a worker that is remodeling my bathroom. The person that helped us, A L Sandoval, was extremely unpleasant. My worker was asking him about a fitting of some ABS pipes and his response to my worker was, "you are supposed to tell me what you need, not me tell you what you to get". If he's having a bad day or problems at home that's not my problem and he should not take his bad mood to his job. He is in a customer service, a position where he should be cordial and helpful not rude! I should have just spoke up at the time and asked for a different salesperson. If he can be so rude then I can ask for somebody else. If I ever go back I will be sure to request a different salesperson. read more

So I walk to store really mad because my water exploded in my house, then an angel appears from the Hirsch doors. This man had a presence. Instead of asking what I needed, he asked if I was okay. I can't remember his nametag but I know his hair had much volume, soft face, baby faced with Jawline, and the passion of a humble lion. Then he walked into the doors and introduced me to all the water heaters. He knew each model, pin number, price, material, and manufacturer. THEN HE DID SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!! The man literally showed me the light, the way and the truth. I came home with a brand water heater, and as a new man just because of this angel. I have been buying all my materials from here for the last year or so I switch stuff from another plumbing company in Glendale that would bump up my prices thinking that I don't notice anything and milk me for whatever it's worth. Now when they end up going over there numbers for this year they will realize what it is they lost for just a couple of bucks I was in search of a new material shop I knew Sam the manager here for a while but I never sat down and went over pricing. We ended up talking to each other bringing the price to what I thought was fair as I buy a lot of material for my crew every month. Sam the manager here has a lot of experience with plumbing. He knows all the Angles and all the necessary steps you need to take to complete your job professionally and properly. The guy's the real deal I really like the spot nothing but USA domestic maid parts. Maria and Debbie at the credit department have been very helpful as well lately (Anna) in store rep is a very sweet person And has been with hirsh for a while . So has Sam. Thank god these guys are around. Just a huge supply of everything you need for your home. My experience at Hirsch was great even though they didn't have what i needed. The only reason they didn't have it was because you can't find parts for this faucet anyway but they directed me to an amazing hardware store I had never even heard of! That's great. The Glendale location is the best one, great customer service, fast and accurate orders. Some of the other Hirsch locations are horrible like Santa Monica, you'll have to wait while the guys feel like helping you out before you can give your order. Glendale location should be the standard on how all the Hirsch locations run there stores. read more

Incredibly rude staff, including the manager. They made fun of me and made me feel like an idiot for walking through the door. I'm no plumber, which I understand is their main clientele, but this company needs to embrace DIYers like me, not make us feel like total $hit. Terrible customer service! Before my number was called, one of the sales guys said out loud "Thanks for wasting my time" about another customer who had just walked out the door. All the employees laughed with each other like it was the good ol' boys club of plumbing suppliers. I cringed as my number was about to be called and now you know how it all turned out. I called Hirsch at their Atlantic store asked if they had a flush valve for a Toto sana gloss 1.6/6.0 toilet they did,but it was to far away.I then called the San Fernando store spoke to sam he said they didn't carry those parts I'd have to special order it I repeated my request he said no.I told him what I was told at the Atlantic store,he asked what do you want? I said Toto sana gloss 1.6/6.0 flush valve again ! he said oh yeah I have that in stock.I went there spoke to a counterman he said we don't have that in stock.I said sam said you do!sam came over and asked me ,is it red or yellow?I said it's pink.He told me it's the same color.Ultimately I got what I wanted,however what a DILDO! I recently obtained a Bradford White Water Heater (American made, $$$, Ambler, PA) from Hirsch. I selected this appliance on the advice of my plumber, who is licensed and bonded. I was present and observed the loading of the new water heater, in its shipping carton, when we picked it up at Hirsch. PLEASE NOTE. This business is NOT a consumer friendly place. It deals with professional plumbers and contractors. Very Spartan surroundings/Industrial setting. EXTREMELY No Nonsense. If you go there, BE PREPARED. Research your prospective purchases ahead of time. Know what you intend to buy as well as its proper name, size, and particular details (size, diameter, finish etc.). The counter people there are minimally helpful. This is the same for all of their locations I've been to. Their selection of products is very good. But, you'd better know what it's called in the plumbing trade. In my case, the water heater shipping carton appeared slightly damaged on the outside. I didn't think much of this as they had a couple hundred sitting together. I watched as the warehouse workers loaded the carton into my truck. I unloaded it at my home. Upon unpacking the carton, I noticed that the gas control valve (square plastic Honeywell control unit) was visibly damaged. It had been smashed in shipping. I assumed it was cosmetic. I was wrong. After the unit was prepped, filled and installation completed, I determined it was defective. The LED display would not illuminate. The gas pilot would not remain lit, after numerous tries. I contacted Bradford White customer support and they explained that the vendor (Hirsch) should replace the defective part. (I should have insisted on complete replacement of the entire water heater) I phoned Hirsch the next day and spoke with the manager (Sam). He assured me he would provide a replacement part. I obtained the part and after much trepidation and methodically draining and disconnecting the connections, it was carefully installed. Sadly, the water heater pilot would not remain lit and the LED display was still not working. My plumber ended up also replacing the thermocouple assembly. Finally, the LED display functioned correctly and the pilot remained lit. All this after 3-4 days without hot water and dealing with Bradford White and Hirsch. To sum this up, I'm hoping anyone who reads this post can avoid my situation and the mistakes I made. I'm also hoping that the ownership and management of Hirsch Pipe and Supply will read this and try to improve their customer service practices. read more

I spoke to Robert on the phone and he was super helpful checking inventory, model numbers, etc. He set aside the last unit they had and gave it to me at contractor pricing. I got to the place and it was so easy. On my way in minutes. I am so glad to know that Hirsch is in my neighborhood whenever I need plumbing parts and fixtures. read more
