They will ask you about the project you're doing, and help find the right products and materials to fit the application of your work. Need to attach something to something else? They will guide you through the a-la-carte screws, nails, nuts, and bolts with expertness, making sure that the style, strength, and size of the hardware fits your project's needs. The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. They also sell local honey up at the cash register! Altadena Hardware is my first choice for hardware needs!

There were no other customers around. When I asked where to find an item, he stood to poiiiiint in the general direction of the item in the back of the store. That was all he did to offer to "help". I didn't find the item, and gave up. He guy I assumed, went back to his twiddling. I then went to the garden section for mosquito repellent was approached by a delightful young woman who went above and beyond looking for the out of stock item, checking in the back, asking others and finally approaching me again at the checkout line with an alternative solution. I LOVE being able to support local businesses, and will continue to do so. I'm hoping this was a fluke and the twiddling guy just was having a moment.

The layout feels a little wonky as the garden center area is on the far south side of the store, off Colorado Street, but the main entrance and parking area are on San Fernando Rd/Harvard Street. I wanted to check out a few plants and garden things for my guy's place not far away, but only really explored what was out front and a few misc items in the store. I've been to this locations a couple times in the past but never really notice how inconvenient they're setup until recently... blaming the summer heat. If you enjoy hot dogs, they have their Hot Dog Depot, also in the main parking lot, no veggie options and still cash only. Plenty of parking. Clean restrooms. Tons of space and easy isles. Tons of employees. One side for their entrance and the other for the exit which makes the garden center even more out of place. Easy for pickup orders. Reasonable prices, though not my prime choice location or home improvement. Rarely that busy. They offer curbside pickup from 9am til 6pm And operate from 6am until 10pm Monday through Saturday. 7am til 8pm on Sunday only - holiday hours may vary. Free Wi-Fi available.
