I bought this old house 33 years ago, and have relied on Baller Hardware to help with all manner of things that it has needed ever since. I could not have lasted here without them. The owners and their dedicated, expert staff want to see you succeed in your project, and will listen and counsel to give you the best (and often unique and ingenious) solution. As the other reviewers say, they are patient and kind, and unfailingly "go above and beyond" for their customers. They have, as Sven says, an amazing array of varied stock, and wonderful, inexpensive services, like cutting wood and making screens. For such excellent service, are the prices higher? NOOO! I have paid less at Baller Hardware for many items than what I would have at Home Depot (after wandering clueless in the HD aisles for hours, like the Lost Tribes of Israel) Walk in needing any "random" obscure item and you will have it in 5 minutes. I love this place. I've been coming here for years if not decades. And I know a little bit about everything so it's nice to go to a place that has stuff that accommodates me in my journey of fixing everything because everything is broken. The staff is great and always willing to help or find help if they can't help. I haven't ever needed help because I know everything they have in the store. I had such a great experience at Baller hardware. I stopped by to buy an assortment of home related items and found out that they can restore vintage lamps. They refurbished two lamps for a great price of $65 for two lamps for parts and labor and it wa ready for a few days. They were so helpful and I am so happy with the results! read more

Super helpful mom and pop shop. I went in for some floor sealer - I am not handy around the house but I looked online and it didn't seem too hard. They helped me find a good product and gave me instructions. They could have easily given me the most expensive product and a bunch of unnecessary tools but they were honest and really cared. Baller Hardware has that old school local feel because they've been around forever and when you walk in, you're greeted/acknowledged by the employees. I love this place. It's awesome for picking up tools, paint, and even single guys ;) I recently went there to get a new shower head (the kind with the "massage setting"- - ladies know what I'm talking about ;P ) and there was a real cute guy there buying a toilet seat. I sidled up next to him and said "new toilet seat, huh?" just to break the ice. Maybe I won't need the shower head after all, I thought lol. The guy was one of these hipster types but he wasn't all fat and broken down by life like my loser husband is. Don't get all judgmental on me because I'm married and flirting with a hipster in the toilet seat section of a hardware store. I still look good and like to get some action on the side every now and then. My husband probably cheats on me too, and frankly it's none of your business, sweetie. The guy is acting all shy so I keep making small talk but I'm being kinda sexy about it too. I say, all breathy, I say "What happened to your old toilet seat?" I kind of touch his arm when I say this. This dude is cute when he's shy. He says he just needs a new seat. I ask him if he wants any help breaking it in, then I wink. He walks over to the gardening aisle to look at some soil. Baller Hardware has everything you need for your garden too, BTW! I follow him to the soil and ask him again. "Do you want any help breaking in your new toilet seat?" He says he's fine and doesn't need any help breaking in the toilet seat. I tell him it's his loss. We exchange numbers before he leaves, so maybe we'll hook up another time. I get my shower head and pay at the counter- I notice they sell pickles too which is cool. Maybe I should get a new toilet seat too and take it into the shower with me so I can break it in along with my new massaging shower head. I just hope my husband didn't stink up the bathroom too bad. SPOILER ALERT: he did. Baller is the best- they have spray paint, regular paint, cleaning products, everything. Great locally owned business! Five stars all the way. I've been shopping all over Silver Lake for gloves since the Corona Virus aka Covid-19 Virus outbreak and lo and behold Baller Hardware is one of the few places that has them in stock! And they don't price gouge as so many of the other retailers do. Here you can get 100 Ambitex Polyethylene Gloves for only $1.49! And they have them in stock with no limits! You can literally buy 1,000 gloves for less than $15.00! Unbelievable! They also just received some Food Guard Vinyl Gloves which are way better than Latex or Nitrile in my opinion. And all of their gloves are powder-free AND sold with no limits and no gouging. read more

I love patronizing local businesses that cater to neighborhood needs. They are unfailingly knowledgeable and well-stocked. It's not a huge place, but they are FULL of all the key hardware items. And they even sell pickles !!! I don't go to a Home Depot unless Baller can't help. They have parking, but it's tricky in and out. The only critique I could make. I have lived on the Eastside of town for the majority of my fifty plus years. For at least 36 of those years i have actively supported and patronized Baller choosing them over a big box store even when that meant paying higher prices and having less selection. This is no longer the case. For anyone that cares, baller hardware does not support the wearing of face masks and if you ask an employee not wearing a face mask to put one on you will be berated and made fun of.
