Chicken Fried Steak for dinner. So good!!

It's been a while but this place is still awesome! Great food, great service. Cozy country atmosphere where you are likely to run into your neighbor!

Having driven by the Colton Cafe countless times, my wife and I finally decided to give this place a try. We were both surprised by the comfortable ambience and music that was playing. In addition, the place was busy. Always a good sign! I went with the Fish and Chips. Fresh cod deep fried in a beer batter. Generally I'm not a fan of beer batter as there is often too much batter and it's greasy. This was a thin lay of beer batter that was perfectly fried. The fish was not over cooked and the thin layer of beer batter was nice and crispy and not greasy. The fries were fresh as well. My wife had the chicken strips, which tasted great. But what really stood out was their macaroni salad. This was clearly homemade and not just a pile of goop. The service here was outstanding as well. Everyone made us feel like we had been coming to the Colton Cafe for years. We'll certainly be back to try their breakfast and other items for dinner. If you find yourself in the Molalla or Colton area, or just wanting to take a drive, head to the Colton Cafe. Plus they have beer on draft and nice assortment of alcohol.

Nobody should ever leave here hungry! This place was hopping on a Sunday morning. We opted to seat at the bar, where we could watch the kitchen crew. (We had originally picked a table in the back, but it was less than 6 feet from the bathroom. Ugh.) The bar was fun because staff interaction was very interesting- it's true teamwork in action. Portions are huge, and the menu is extensive. I had the biscuits and gravy, with potatoes, eggs and sausage. Very good. My husband had the steak and eggs with potatoes and a pancake. The pancake was fluffy and light. Marionberry syrup was delightful. The steak was cooked great, but the texture was a little chewy and not seasoned to his liking. Loved the interactions between staff and patrons. Excellent service. Next time I'm going to try one of those loaded Bloody Marys! Great stop in spite of the little flaws.

Was wanting to try the Colton cafe for a while and gosh we are glad we did. Ordered fish and chips , chicken strips , a starter salad and an elephant ear for dessert. It was all so incredibly delicious! Fish was moist to the point it wanted to fall apart , chicken was incredibly juicy on the inside and crisp light breading on the outside. Both were obviously made in house , not frozen like a lot of places. Blue cheese dressing was really good on the starter salad. The $4 elephant ear is a MUST! It was fresh, hot and giant! Our young blonde waitress (wish I would have caught her name) was attentive and very friendly also! My family can not wait to go back and try some of their other options ! Would def recommend!

Pick Three: pancakes, eggs over easy, bacon.

Was in from out of town and happened upon this place while waiting for my hosts to wake up. Great food, nice atmosphere, nice people. But the thing that makes this a destination is the Chicken Fried Steak. It is probably the best one Ive had in all my days wandering this pretty planet. I went back the next day and got some bacon, eggs, and a pancake which did not disappoint.

Chocolate milkshakes! Nice staff. Home cooking. Clean. Very kid friendly as well. QR Code pay option- pay through your phone. No waiting. Gf bun on my burger was shockingly fantastic. Wow couldn't even tell it was gluten free.

And I'm glad we did because the food was great and the bloody Mary's were the "best in the country". Get it? We had them in "The Country" so they were the best in that restaurant - because they had no competition. lol I always order food that I do not cook well so that meant getting the biscuits and gravy. Feeling piggy-ish, I also ordered a side of hash browns. If I'm going to be bad, I'm going to be real bad! It was a heart attack waiting to happen but too yummy!! When we walked in, no one was wearing masks - YAY! - but leave it to a "Karen" to ruin it for our server and insisting they put one on. Good grief! Enough of this craziness! "Karen" got to sit at her table and not wear one but bullied our server into wearing one. People like that need to just stay home and cook their own food. That said, we had a good time, other than sharing air with "Karen", our food was great and our server was on the ball and got everything perfect for the 7 of us. ANNNND... she let us have separate checks - which is a deal breaker for me. 1 check = total stress figuring out. Multiple checks = happy customer who will return.

Up until now, this breakfast has been my favorite all over the Western United States. The English muffins were barely toasted. The ham was thinly sliced "sandwich"ham, the hollandaise sauce was almost tasteless, but the topper was the basically "hard boiled"eggs on top! Expecting the usual poached eggs, but what I got was basically a hard boiled egg, no runny yolk no soft whites. Basically an undercooked hard-boiled egg. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook. Never again to compensate me for this abysmal meal they gave me free coffee.

We love the western ambiance and it's always clean, warm and cozy. We got superb service from Krysty and Hallie and we had a lot of questions. They were very knowledgeable about everything. Best potato skins we've ever had! I ordered the bbq bacon wrapped shrimp which came with salad greens. My husband had the juicy Western burger with a fresh green salad and homemade croutons I'm sure. Everything was just perfect. Cooked perfectly. The only thing I would like to say is that I wish that they offered like fish and chips or chicken strips on the lunch menu. All that with 2 n/a drinks for only $57. That included a 20% tip because they were so wonderful. We definitely will be going back soon even though we don't need to be in the area. The first special we tried was the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna; which was good, but lacked the melt-in-your mouth texture I would expect from rare Ahi. The entree I ordered, Filet Oscar, didn't live up to the description, unfortunately. "A center cut 8oz filet mignon grilled to perfection..." What I received was not center cut, and certainly didn't have the shape or texture of filet. It was also not cut level, so part of the steak was cooked correctly, and half was overcooked. The crab on top didn't taste fresh, either. The mashed potatoes and cooked carrots were delicious, though. I was quite hungry, so I downed it all without complaining, but I felt the quality wasn't on par with the price. If we come back again, I think I'll just stick with burgers and fries.
