Fun spot for good food and drinks in an admittedly crowded Milwaukee staple (or so I'm told)…read more I'm not gonna make it a victim of its own success just because it's super crowded and the parking lot is a stressful experience! Its heavy attended volume is well deserved; lots of interesting stalls line the ground floor, from coffee and candy to bbq and Thai. I wouldn't say it could replace regular grocery shopping; it's more like a fancy spot to shop for artisan goods like cured meats, sweet treats, baked goods, and other accoutrement. Plenty of seating on the open second floor (also a good spot to take photos of the market) if you want to eat there; otherwise grab some delicious food to go and enjoy the surrounding neighborhood!

That was perfect since we were only going to be there for a few minutes while we had some shaved ice. The market offers everything from cheese, seafood, pasta etc. as well as many restaurants to choose from. We were in the mood for something cold on a hot summer day and Chillwaukee hit the spot. We finished our shaved ice and headed back to our car. We thought we had plenty of time to make it out of the parking lot in less than 30 minutes. When we got in the line to exit there were only 4 cars ahead of us with 5 minutes left of time. No problem, I thought. I was wrong. When it was my turn to exit I was told I had to pay for an hour of parking even though we were only over by a few seconds!! When I explained that I had been in line for 5 minutes, the attendant said that the same thing had happened to other customers before me and that there was nothing he could do about it. I would agree if I had shown up one minute late and there was no line to leave. Other than the parking situation, I enjoyed my short visit to the market.

Open bright and early - well, not so bright since it was before the sun was up…read more This Paradies store is pretty typical of other Paradies stores in other airports around the country: water, books, magazines, snacks, local souvenirs, and the "Buy a Book, Sell it Back for Half Price" program where you can buy a book in any of the Paradies stores in the country, save the receipt, and within 6 months return it a Paradies store with the receipt and get half your money back in cash for the book. The unique item that I saw in this store was a mini cooler to the side that had Wisconsin cheese in it. Lots and lots of cheddar. Wheels, chunks, cheese curds. That is great and unique marketing. I *almost* did buy some since I was just transferring planes here in Milwaukee and thought that would be a great item to bring to my next destination. I bet if it wasn't 5:30 AM. that I would've made that impulse purchase in a heart beat, but I held off. The woman working was so pleasant and friendly and chatty so early in the morning, it was nice.

I hoped to score a sandwich or salad for my flight, but no go here. The nice gentleman working there did point out a nearby sandwich seller to me. What made me so happy here is that I found a pineapple-flavored Hint water--my favorite--and it was so refreshing! That's good enough for 4 Yelp Stars from me.

I visit the store every time I'm in town and am always amazed at all the new and different items they offer. They have a super friendly staff to help you find whatever you're looking for. They have stationary in every color under the rainbow, one of a kind gift wrapping sheets that cater to anything from a map of the world to species of bugs and birds, writing journals, writing instruments, wedding invitations and collections of card/gift items for ethnic holidays that you don't see in other stationers!

I got my very own set of personalized stationery when I was 13 and thought I was THE SH*T (Reader: I was, in fact, not.). My first job was at a gift shop and my favorite part was wrapping presents. Walking into Broadway Paper was like going to Mecca. HUGE selection of gift wrap. Gorgeous pens all in a row. Stickers. Notebooks. Plushies. Gifts for everyone on your list. Wisconsin merch. Everything is so colorful and happy. I could have easily gone broke in there but limited myself to a handful of cards, a Christmas ornament, and a vinyl sticker. I thought the prices were fair -- I've seen similar cards on Etsy for the same price. I would 100% come back here next time I'm in MKE.
