Even with the rings set on the property, the field appears very nicely maintained. Maybe all the rain AZ has received recently has contributed to that. Clearly various activities occur here but I'm here for the dog shows hosted by the Yuma Kennel Club and the Imperial Valley Kennel Club. There are a few vendors offering everything from toys, treats, chews, collars and leashes to those providing beverages, snacks, and meals to help us keep up our energy for winning, long show days. Club members are helpful and cheerful volunteers. Exhibitors bring some impressive competition. And in addition to the Conformation show you may also see Rally Trials as well as CGC and ATT testing offered. A really nice venue.

They offer classes for children as well as for adults. They even offer private parties. Oh, not to forget--BYOB, and snacks. Although I can't imagine myself having to multitask between painting, munching and sipping wine, I think that it adds to the fun and casual vibe of the place. The two ladies who are there are very helpful and they do their best to make you feel at home. In other words, they're there to support you in your pursuit to discover your inner artist. Based on my first ever visit, I notice that there's quite a nice diversity of guests to come. One can tell most of them are not newbies to Artsy Fartsy, and it looks like some who came over are friends. I myself came with two good friends, and for all it's worth, having them sitting right next to me really made me feel at ease, having to sit in a sea of perfect strangers. And yes, we had snacks of fresh fruit, bite-sized chocolates, and pretzels LoL but we didn't bother with eating because, as I've said before, it was very hard to eat and paint and drink. I might bring me a bottle of white moscato wine next time, just to get the total experience!

The main intersection for the Old City Hall (with ample parking here) is North 2nd Ave and West 1st St. PARKING: The event provides free parking in the dirt lots surrounding the Old City Hall. We were actually turned away from a couple of parking areas (due to max capacity). However, be patient, you'll find spot! Street parking was full... ATMOSPHERE AND DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: This year was Yuma's 13th annual event held the weekend of 11-13 March. This event was ALL about food!! The size of the crowd (for Yuma) was large and very festive! The food court section was right near the entrance featuring Hofbraus House, Nature's Express, and vendors serving kabobs, Dippin' Dots, and other tasty items. Be careful...don't eat too much here - there is large building deeper in the depot hosting a variety of local businesses with samplings of their food! This area was called the "Yuma Recipe Box Event" which allowed patrons to purchase wristbands for $10 and enter a building with many eateries flaunting samples of their food! Local businesses here included Da Boyz, The Garden Café, Ciao Bella, Market Wine Bistro, Quechan, Papa Murphy's Pizza, Hilton Garden Inn Restaurant, Burgers & Beer, Jennie Wah's, and La Fonda. We ate so much! There were also beer (Fat Tire, etc.) and wine tastings from Yuma's Main Squeeze. There were many exhibits from local businesses such as Yuma Community Food Bank (the set up their own Farmer's Market with super-cheap produce like two pounds of butter lettuce for $1 - bunches of spring onions for 25 cents or radishes for 50 cents!), Dole (gave out free samples), and others. There were also date shakes and kettle corn stands - yummy! There were chef exhibitions with fruit carving, chocolate-dipped-fruit samples, and cooking demonstrations. Entertainment seemed non-stop: live belly-dancers, local high school cheerleaders, other dancing organizations, etc. CONCLUSION: It was a beautiful day for walking around and seeing so many local eateries. Living in Yuma for over 8 years, I am ashamed that I never visited the festival previously. I WON'T miss it again! I strongly recommend that you check it out!

Buying tickets isn't as convenient anymore either. The outside kiosks are gone, cant use ticket machines and ordering online adds extra fees. So you're stuck going inside. Concessions are frustrating. Lines are long, yet staff don't seem organized, and service feels slow. Popcorn is overly buttery even when you ask for less, and everything--sodas, combos--feels overpriced with no real deal or savings. Rewards are also a hassle since staff rarely ask for your membership. Seating is just okay. It's tight, not very comfortable, and doesn't recline like other theaters. On top of that, bathrooms are inconveniently located all the way near concessions instead of being more accessible. Relatively clean except for area you get condiments, usually dirty. AND, they no longer have flavored seasons . Overall, it's not a great experience for the price. I'd give it a 3.5/5

Since COVID-19 and Social Distancing have changed the way we watch movies in theaters, a few places…read morehave changed the way they do things...Sunset Cinema Theater is one of those places. The way to view a movie harkens back to days of old; as in Drive-In movies! Using a huge inflatable screen, a rented receiver (to listen to the desired radio station in your car) and enough space to hold the event; a good time (or something completely different) is destined to happen. Yes, the movies are second run. But the movie is free, so I couldn't complain. We rounded up the family and had a good time. The staff running the show keeps everyone Social - Distanced apart while in their vehicles. There's porta potties on site, and the usual fare of popcorn and other snacks are sold....as well as alcohol (age appropriate, of course). It made for a decent night out. On the military base, they run a movie every other week (weather permitting). I suggest checking online and/or calling ahead to see if a movie is playing that week. For something to do, it's not a bad deal. Worth looking into!
