Her booking confirmation email is very helpful to plan your day - most notable check-in and breakfast information! There is a wonderful side parking lot to accommodate several guest cars - it might be a smidgen tight for big vehicles like trucks but there is also street parking nearby! Jackie helped us to our room during check in and gave some helpful tips and requests to make our stay so comfy. The Garden room was beautifully decorated and including a relaxing full sized tub. Although rainy during our visit, it is closest to the outdoor patio space to enjoy! After sharing about the room, Jackie gave us some amazing recommendations for restaurants and things to do that we very much used throughout our time in the greater Bath area! Jackie's breakfast was hearty, delicious, and locally sourced - the breakfast frittata and potatoes were so yummy! She respectfully tries to seat groups throughout the morning so that no one is crowded - allowing you to meet fellow travelers or keep to yourself as fits your morning preferences. She also gave us more suggestions for our 2nd day of adventures and again they did not disappoint! She left us a very yummy takeaway breakfast for our last morning as sadly we had to depart for our flight before breakfast. At every turn, Jackie and the Inn at Bath made for such a memorable experience. We would love to come back someday and we recommend it so much!

I found Harborfields on AirBnB for Memorial Day Weekend. We chose the Shore Cottage out of the many…read morethat were available, mainly because this specific cottage is literally right on the water. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and has an fully equipped kitchen with basic essentials. I was surprised to see there were coffee filters, garbage bags, dish soap, and basic kitchen appliances. The bathroom comes with toilet paper, hand soap, and a blow dryer. The beds were comfortable (we weren't expecting that considering we've slept on stiff beds many times during our travels). The biggest surprise of all was that the fireplace comes with firewood! You can also use one of their rowboats or kayak for free during your stay. We are very happy with the cottages and would love to come again. It really is a great getaway.

Perfect place for a Maine getaway…read more This isn't the yacht club down the street - this is a low key place that you go to relax and watch the water. The cabin I rented was perfect for me and a very large dog; we sat on the deck and watched the boats come and go. There was a dock with boats to use and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout so you could just watch the harbor. All the cabins are off the main road and tucked back towards the water. Was able to walk my dog just fine. Will def be back

Breakfast is fresh every morning. Your right at the center of island life with out it being on top of you. The microwave and fridge give you the option to eat on the cheep. However the temptation of the food at The Island Inn just across the road may be hard to resist. The Sterling house puts you at the center of the Island and its history. It is still owned by the original family going back eight generations. Tranquil down east views are out every window. What a great fined.

My husband and I stayed with our cocker-spaniel this June (2017) at the JSH Inn. We got along very well with Susan, who is funny and amiable - she even offered to pet sit our dog so we could have an elegant dinner right across the road at The Island Inn! She was an amazing host. Maybe next time we will get to meet her husband Mark. The JSH inn is very conveniently located both to the harbor and to Main St on Monhegan Island. The almost 300-year-old inn was gut renovated in 2005. It is neat and tidy, authentic in design, pro-conservation and cheerful. Susan was incredibly hospitable and helpful, as her knowledge comes from generations of living on the island (during the warm part of the year). In the rooms, you will find authentic touches including old photos of the inn and windows dressed with charming lace curtains. Be on the lookout for small thoughtful luxuries, including a tiny dish of chocolate kisses and a vase of freshly cut purple lupines. I would recommend this inn for couples, singles, and families of a gentle and polite disposition. I'll be back!

In June 2019, our family booked High Head cottage near Boothbay…read more We were pleased that it was nice, great views, secluded yet close to our activities. 1.We specifically selected this house because it had 3 full baths to accommodate our group. However, only upon arrival, we were told, the 3rd shower was broken(for the season) so we had to share showers. No compensation has been offered since we did not get what we paid for. Even as a small goodwill gesture. 2. One downstairs bathroom door was clear pane glass with no curtain. The door faced out toward the front porch's bedroom windows. No privacy from the bedroom and especially with the onsite caretaker on the porch. 3. I expect 1-2 extra toilet paper rolls in each bathroom. No, we had to search and finally found only 2 extra rolls in 1 bathroom. On their website, under History, they state "pride in attention to detail" and "no surprises." This is far from the truth from our stay at High Head. High Head has several good points, but just be prepared.

Our 2-star rating reflects our experience with Cottage Connection's Linekin Log Cabin in East…read moreBoothbay. We previously rented Osprey Oasis through Cottage Connection, had an excellent experience, and left a 5-star review. Linekin Log Cabin has spectacular views and a beautiful setting, but unfortunately our experience with the condition of this property was very different. We communicated significant issues to Cottage Connection as they arose and a detailed account with photos after returning home. Thus, Cottage Connection is fully aware of these concerns. We strongly recommend confirming before booking Linekin Log Cabin: * All windows are operable and the cabin can be adequately ventilated during warm weather * The ventilation fan is functioning * Water leaks in the downstairs bedroom has been repaired * The washer functions * Exterior lighting/access have been addressed * Gaps between logs allowing insects inside have been repaired * If anyone has mobility limitations, clarification on the downstairs bedroom configuration and exterior access to the main living area Here's why: Upon arrive, the cabin was completely closed up and extremely hot. Multiple windows were nailed or painted shut. Large skylights introduced considerable direct sunlight and heat but could not be opened. The ventilation fan high above the kitchen sink was disabled. Despite using 6 fans (2 at the cabin + 4 we brought) with every available window and open deck door, the cabin became extremely hot. While out, our crated dogs ended up beneath direct sunlight through the skylights. Upon return, a laptop had overheated even though it was cooler outside than inside. We contacted Cottage Connection about the windows that morning, but no one came. Upon return we called again, and maintenance opened several windows, including one they sawed open. Following additional concerns, they returned and opened all but one. Thereafter, conditions improved. To clarify, we were not concerned about the hot weather, but rather the cabin's lack of adequate ventilation. Maintenance told us some windows had been deliberately nailed or painted shut and he recommended the owner replace them for years. Several neighbors unsolicited comments suggest heat/ventilation problems were longstanding; when one first greeted us, one of his first comments was, "I hope you brought lots of fans." The property is advertised as dog-friendly. When we expressed concern about safely leaving our dogs crated in the heat, one suggestion was placing them in doggie daycare. That wasn't feasible for our dogs. Opening additional windows ultimately improved the problem. Other issues include: 2 smoke alarms activating at approximately 1 a.m. one night. We called 911 and were instructed to evacuate. The fire department found no fire or dangerous air condition. During subsequent thunderstorms, water entered the downstairs bedroom twice. The washer also did not work. Anyone traveling with older adults or people with mobility limitations should ask questions about access. The approach is narrow and uneven with very limited exterior lighting; responding firefighters had difficulty navigating at night. The downstairs bedroom is separated from the main living area, requiring going outside and upstairs. A bathroom represented as a full at the time we booked was a 3/4 bath with a shower that would be unsafe for our elderly family members. We ultimately arranged a nearby hotel for them at our own expense. There are gaps between logs large enough to allow daylight and insects through. Cottage Connection staff were courteous, and their interventions improved the ventilation problem. Our 2-star review reflects the cumulative effect and amount of our vacation spent managing property problems. We wish this information had been available before booking. Our purpose in sharing it is to help prospective renters confirm these documented issues have been addressed before deciding whether Linekin Log Cabin is right for them.

The boyfriend and I stayed here on our quick NH-ME vacation before a wedding in Cape Cod. I had never been to Boothbay Harbor before, so decided to look there for a place to stay. Of course, finding a place to stay in Boothbay Harbor the week before 4th of July weekend can be a difficult task if you don't have a large amount of money to spend on your lodgings. So after some Googling, I found the Ship Ahoy. Not really in town, but also not too far off. I really liked the fact that their peak rates don't start until July 1 (we stayed there the night of June 29), and it was only an extra $20 to have a room right on the water instead of in the main building of the motel. We were worried when we showed up that evening and the fog was so thick we couldn't even tell there was an ocean right next to us... luckily it had cleared by morning and we awoke to a gorgeous Maine coastline! (See the pictures I added.) As others have stated, this is definitely a motel. The main office smells a bit musty/moldy, and the beds are not the most comfortable things out there. The bathroom was something straight out of the late 60s. But for the price and the view, it was a great find and I would stay there again. They also have a coffee shop/diner on the grounds (only open from 7:30-10 AM, if I remember correctly!), but we didn't have breakfast there so I can't say much about it.
