HL Asian Market is where I get my Fresh Lobster & Rau Ram.. Right on Highway 19. We drive up & down 19 all the time & this has become our favorite place to stop for fresh Lobster & asian produce. It's a super clean store with a fantastic fresh fish market inside that actually smells great. Absolutely fabulous fish market OuiOui. You wouldn't think there is a fabulous fish market here with tons of giant fresh Lobsters flown in every week, but surprise surprise OuiOui. Tons of fresh Lobsters. They have three tanks. The small ones are in the bottom, the 1-2 pounds, the 3 to 5 pound ones are on top baby. OuiOui. They also have all kinds of Fresh fish, Grouper, snapper, sole etc. Fresh crab, clams, shrimp etc. They also have a full Asian grocery store with all the usual ingredients to make asian food. They do not have a HOT foods bar but they do have fresh produce & fresh medicinal herbs like Rau Ram. "Rau Ram" is an Asian Herb, it's Viet coriander/Asian Cilantro. It's slightly peppery, aromatic, fabulous with spicy fish tacos. Fish Ramen. Lobster ramen. moi fave. You can eat it raw. You SHOULD eat it raw. I chop it up & toss it in my salads/soups/tacos. I also steep it & use it as a tea. I mix it with other herbs like clove & dandelion. It's moi #1 fave detox tea. (You CAN buy supplements of Rau Ram, I prefer to make my own culinary dishes/tinctures with it) It's an excellent medicinal herb, widely celebrated in various Eastern medicinal systems for its potent healing properties, anti oxidant, anti aging & super nutritional benefits. This market has been amazing and has provided us with a way to enjoy a meal as a family while still being able to make things that our children are going to eat as well. I love it here, everyone is so welcoming and so sweet even the butchers in the back are the nicest as much as they dont speak fluent english they understand the business and exactly what u ask for prices are amazing and also guaranteed freshness no matter the product you purchase, its a cozy size but has everything you could possibly need, not to forget the appliances and utensils for such a fair price. It's so overwhelming unless you put me in the candy and sweet sauce, and then I'm great. They could not be nicer and the prices were good. I'm gonna visit again soon. They have many good selections of dried Asian food and good amounts of fresh produce that is actually fresh compared to nearby grocery store that has very limited of selections! I have lived here many years and have been here many times. The very first time I set foot in this grocery store, I opened the door, and the guy yelled at me for opening the wrong door! Why that other door is unlocked, I still don't know. Then I opened the other door, and I explained to the guy inside the store who had yelled at me that this was the first time I had ever come there. He said nothing. No one is ever friendly. No one speaks English. I found what I was looking for once by speaking Spanish, and spelling 'd-a-i-k-o-n' in Spanish. They do not have the word 'radish' so they will tell you 'daikon' is a 'carrot.' It is NOT a carrot. It IS a RADISH. But again, just not very friendly. 'Asian' does not mean 'Indian' to them, so you will never find any Indian foods here. Every time I go here, it is because I can not find what I am looking for anywhere else, because if I can ... We have lived here for awhile and kept saying we should check out this market. Well, we are so mad that it took this long for us to finally check it out! Upon entry, it does come off a little cluttered but this could have been them just restocking while we were there. We were immediately greeted and offered assistance. Directly to your left upon entering is a little service area where you can order drinks, I missed this as I was entranced by the store, but later came back around to it. The service at this location was amazing, everyone was so helpful and so eager to help! They even gave us amazing suggestions for our pad Thai (which came out awesome, we will provide pictures!). The shelves are actually very neatly stocked and they have so many selections! If we weren't going away, we would have probably purchased so much more food! They have a copious amount of choices from everything from instant meals to fresh produce that you can't get at your local grocery. So happy to have a bigger Asian market in Hernando County! Have been able to find everything here for all of my Thai cooking adventures. They also have my favorite Kim chee here (it just tastes better than any other and comes from Korea). When we have a question, they are also willing to answer it without making us feel awkward. My daughter and I have been coming here for a while now. The people who work here are very professional from what I can tell. The cashers are usually very welcoming and nice. Never rude or anything. To be honest both the girls who are cashers there are very sweet. The one may be a bit shy. The only problem I have is I wish the prices were lower. They prices are about average just wish they would compete more with other places or give some kind of deals. The store is always clean and laid out nice. It doesn't smell either as some people claim. I am glad this store is here and I hope it will continue to grow. read more

I suppose if I lived in Weeki Wachee, Brooksville, or some other God-forsaken place, I would be grateful for the existence of this place. But to say this place is "Even better than MD Market" is absolute foolishness! What a disappointment!! This business is 24.3 miles and a 46-minute drive away from home. The nearest MD Oriental Market (Pinellas) is also a 46-minute drive away. This was the only Asian market I have been in over the last few years where I walked out with absolutely nothing! Prices and selection are adequate. Probably a little better than Walmart. But to compare it to a market that must be four or more times the size is absolute folly! The aisles are so thin that if an obese person is in the same aisle, you cannot pass using one of their small shopping carts. I tried!! The place is NOT "amazing". It is adequate at best! I am sure it is a Godsend in the hinterlands of Hernando County! But if you are in the Tampa Bay area, and have to drive more than 25 miles to get here, there are at least three better choices... read more

I am grateful to have a decent asian market in my area. Saves me time from having to drive to Tampa. I have shopped here several times now and something I noticed from the first visit until now was how there is always an employee side eyeing me while shopping. No, not the friendly, trying to see if I need help type of look, the kind where i change aisles and the clerk is still down at the end with me in his peripheral view. This happens every visit, even my wife noticed it when she visits. I understand they want to minimize theft, but I just am not comfortable to shop when I know I am actively being watched as if I'm going to put something in my pocket? Cameras all over the store and that's fine have a security eye balling the cameras, but please have the staff tone down the eagle eyed sleuthing, i'm not a criminal but not comfortable just being stared at. The aisles are very narrow but manageable if the other shopper is aware other people exist around them. Other than that, I really like this store. read more

This place is a horror movie! The fish and lobsters are stacked on top of each other. I'm not so naive that I think they will not be eaten. However the way they pack them in those tanks is inhumane! Just opened on June 3. Very well stocked. Meat and seafood are fresh. They have a good stock everything you need to cook all Asian food. Prices are in line with the bigger city markets.
