Now, usually I'd go to my normal mechanic, who is OUTRAGEOUSLY good, but in Oakland (shout out to…read moreJohnny's Auto) and would drop the car off on my way to work. Since I'm on vacay for the summer, I thought I'd try and find something closer to home. Okay, I REALLY wanted to like this place, please believe me! You Yelpers had me totally sold. When I called the shop to talk to Bob, he sounded like a great guy, nice and knowlegible. The driver's window in my 01 Honda for some reason just stopped working and he said that he had someone in w/ the same problem a few days ago. Sweet! He should know exactly what needs to be done. I rolled by to drop off the car and got sorta confused because it's in an area w/ other shops...a transmission place, maybe an autobody shop??, but I finally saw a sign for Stoller's near the end of the street. Just to warn you, its a tight fit on that street, very narrow.... I met Bob, again a really nice man and he told me he'd take a look at it and call me when he knows what's up. Well, almost 4 hours later and no call. I call him and he said that it was exactly what he thought it was and was waiting for the part to be delivered. A few hours later, I call again and he tells me the car is ready. My sister gives me a lift to the place and I go see Bob to settle up. I mention to Bob that I found him from Yelp and he said that he gets a few that way, but he's not really into computers. In fact he mentions he doesn't even have a cell phone. Interesting....I mention that there are cell phones and plans that are pay per use, so that way he'd have it for emergencies...lol...I also mention that a computer could really him w/ invoices and customer's information, etc...he laughs me off and I figure it's none of my business anyway...leave the man alone whydontcha:-) Anyway, I go out to my car and am a little confused because the window is still down. I hit the button to go up. Nothing...I try again...still nothing. WTF??? I get pissed so I start pushing the button up and down and wouldn't you know it??? Whatever they did, the put the switch on BACKWARDS! Up now is down, and down is up....crappers!!!! And, on top of that, my window is filthy w/ crud all over it. I'm trying to clean it off and my sister (god bless her) shouts from her car "Why are YOU cleaning the window???". Needless to say, I went in to tell Bob what happened. He seems perplexed and said maybe they ordered or delivered the wrong part. I need my car for an appointment the next morning and I can't leave it for another day. I bring it in a day later and Bob fixes it and tells me they just installed it wrong. I would have at least figured an adjustment shoulda been made for labor, right??? No. Nice guy, but workmanship? I'm not impressed. Perhaps this is just a fluke, but i'm not taking any more chances. If this is my experience with a window cable fix, I'd be really nervous to think of what might happen w/ a serious engine problem.

Mad thanks to J.L. for the first review…read more I went here based 100% on the review here and let me tell you, Bob is the nicest guy! I took my truck in for the 60k check-up-a $450 service at the dealer. It cost me MUCH less from Bob. How much? Let me just say that it was so much less, I could fly Bob out to Vegas on Southwest for the difference. Of course, I went to Vegas and Bob hung out at home with his wife, but that's another story... Why is it so much cheaper? Well, because he does exactly is needed, and nothing more. He doesn't charge for stuff that he doesn't do, and if it isn't necessary, he doesn't do it. Pretty simple.
