Ho Sushi Express is a good Scarborough takeout joint for sushi but having but having had some excellent takeout sushi for the past while, I've been a bit spoiled when it comes to quality and value. But I do have to say that the prices at Ho Sushi Express, are some of the lowest around anywhere. I just expected a bit more in terms of quality, and the finesse wasn't entirely there. But for those prices, I shouldn't be complaining and this place satisfies any quick sushi cravings. We called in advance and they got our platter ready in 30 minutes. Super simple and managed to get the 43 which is 60 pieces of assorted sashimi, sushi, and rolls for $43. That's really good deal. There was a good assortment of everything, and one of the rolls was a rainbow special roll which was a nice addition. But aside from that the rest was a pretty standard selection of california rolls, cucumber maki, and spicy tuna. The sashimi and nigiri selection was also pretty standard, no premium items included. Freshness was okay; expected fresher and the temperature was room temperature. Construction of the platter seemed a bit rush, some of the maki rolls were barely held together. The rice was fine however. Reading some of the other stellar reviews, I'm not sure if we just had an underwhelming platter or not. If you're in Scarborough and crave takeout sushi, then you should check these guys out but if you're out of your way, there's plentiful of better options to consider. read more

Ho Sushi Express is my new go to take out sushi place. Its for those days where you just want quick, good quality sushi without having to stay at the restaurant. The place is literally just a take out place, there is no room to dine- in which i guess cuts there cost. Their service is good though, they can usually have your order done within 30 minutes. Fish quality is pretty good compared to the ones you buy in grocery stores. If you are looking for good quality take out sushi try this place out. read more

I typically don't stop for sushi in Scarborough and now I know why. I was drawn to this place because of the ratings and fair prices, but their sushi is heavily overrated. The sashimi did not seem fresh or of quality. The tuna was chewy, and the rest of the sashimi selected was oddly dried out - almost like it had been preserved. The rolls were messily made and fell apart. Service is good but that was the only plus for me. Quality just doesn't cut it for me. read more

This is not the place for you if you're looking for fancy sushi since it's definitely more of the cheap and affordable type. The platters are the best. This tiny sushi establishment is owned by Chinese--nothing wrong with that as long as they serve good food. Note that this place is better as a take out spot. There are 4 seats by the window and you can't make reservations. I came to this place upon reading raving reviews. One thing to note before coming here: make sure you place an order for pickup. This place is flooded with orders and delivery that these guys are very very busy. If you come in and order you are in for a long wait, even at 8-9pm. There are only three employees working (one cash and two chefs). I was pleasantly surprised by the prices and fresh fish you get when you order sashimi. The quality is good for the price which is why this place gets 5 stars. There were no issues with the food tasting very bland, scallops were sweet, salmon melts in your mouth, uni was soft and creamy. This is just a glimpse of what I tried. Have seen all the great reviews of this place and decided to order dinner on a Thursday night (via Skip The Dishes). Ordered a bit before 6 and order took 50min to arrive. I ordered the 40 piece rolls party tray which contained an nice assortment. There was something for everyone (cooked and raw) and the fish was fresh. Everything was very good. While Niji is still my go to place for dine-in, Ho Sushi Express will be my new go to for delivery! I recommend you try this place if you're in the area. read more

My husband and I have been ordering from this place for about two months now. We've done both pick up and delivery through Skip the dishes and through Door dash. Our order is always ready for pick up on time. The quality of the sushi is great and always consistent. Our regular order of the 40 piece party tray is $30 which is very reasonable for what you get. The quality sometimes varies, someday the fishes are super fresh and then there's day where I can't stand the stench and end up throwing everything out. If you expect something more exotic in fish varieties, I would suggest look elsewhere as the choice of fish or others are repetitive compared to other express takeout sushi but hey they are generous with portions so nothing of value was lost Place is small so no dine in available, only take out or delivery. Fish was not fresh. Could smell it from outside the container. Rolls were falling apart and the soy sauce was way too salty, the fish was also slightly warm. Cheap prices, but do not recommend unless really desperate for sushi. Got an upset stomach after eating there. However, they do offer 10% off if you pay with cash. read more

I made an order for the 80 Piece Party Tray very recently. I had it scheduled on UberEats to be ready between 6:15-6:45. I picked it up 6:31pm and when I brought it home to eat, it tasted very disappointing to say the least. The California roll fell apart easily when picked up and the raw fish just didn't taste fresh. The platter tasted like it had been made for quite a while and sat on a table waiting for pickup. They were kind enough to include some seaweed salad. read more

**Warning for people that want to pre-order their food on a holiday** SUCH A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! I ordered from here many times and loved it! I ordered ahead of time at 2pm for a 7:30pm pick up. Get to the restaurant to pick up my order and they tell me that they never received my order... This was on Valentines Day where every restaurant is now in their dinner rush and we had to go look for a different restaurant. The cashier was RUDE and DISMISSIVE of the whole situation, basically saying TOUGH LUCK and that we would have to wait minimum 1 hour to get our order EVEN THOUGH WE ORDERED AT 2PM! She showed NO SYMPATHY and DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE for their mistake. This whole experience led us to find another go-to sushi spot. Unorganized establishment and horrible customer service. This place use to be amazing. It's under new ownership now and it's gone downhill. The new owners use the cheapest ingredients and when you get your sushi it's so loose that everything falls out. I walked-in and asked them what type of maki rolls are included in the sushi tray options. They told me dynamite, which was perfect for me. I also confirmed what was in their dynamic roll (obviously shrimp). But when I got home and opened the container, I was disappointed to see California roll instead of what I had ordered. It was not worth going back since I was already home. Such a disappointment. In addition, I understand the price is cheaper than other places but you are getting thinner slices of fish compared to other places. Had no idea this place existed as I'm not from the area - but saw it through a friend's social media post and decided to try after seeing some great photos. This is my 2nd time here and I have ordered the Hokkaidon both times. The price was excellent for what you get at $15 (if you pay by cash). The shrimp are more like prawns they're so big, they also give you 2 pieces of uni and a large scoop of ikura (salmon roe). The sashimi is very fresh and tasty and have come to love this sashimi bowl. Will definitely come again for the price and quality, it can't be beat. read more
