I have acrylic nails and really liked getting my nails done here for about my first 7 visits. Lately it seems that the ladies might be rushed and not completely painting my nails and not applying the acrylic to the whole nail. Read the reviews closely, there are common threads. The experience is hurried, the technicians are not allowed to communicate directly with clients, mistakes are made, the owner apologizes profusely to get the client to come back. Agreed that the place is clean, but is that really that hard to find? Look for a place that is clean and then pray that they don't maim you with their Dremel tool. read more

This is a lovely spa with very reasonable prices. The owner and all the staff were very nice. I got an excellent acrylic fill, and a beautiful pedicure. No cuts or scraps on either! I found both people to be very adept and pretty darn fast. The pedicure includes exfoliation, which I've not had elsewhere and which is such a great idea. I also got a bikini wax, which was relatively painless. They must use really good wax, because the last wax I had -- at a much more expensive salon -- left me much redder. I had heard good things about this salon & was excited to get a pedicure for the summer. Everything seemed to go smoothly, except for one point, where the pedicure technician cut my toe. That happens, though, so I just brushed it off. It was itchy for the rest of the day, and by the next evening, it was clearly infected. After a pretty uncomfortable week & a round of antibiotics, I do not think that I will be visiting this salon again. read more

This place is one of my favs! I started going to the location on Madison each time I'm in town visiting. The Roosevelt location is closer to where I stay and the interior is cozy and clean. They give a great foot massage that feels great!! Highly recommend. read more

I took my partner and my 80-year old mother here today. They each had a manicure and a pedicure. They both loved it. The place is very clean and all the equipment is sterilized between customers. The staff was very caring and spent ample time with each of them, including massaging their feet, legs, hands and arms. The end result of the manicure and the pedicure was very nice. I was *really* pleased today with my pedicure and with the salon as a whole. My nails need special care after chemotherapy and Vivian did a lovely job. My friend had an appointment and I tagged along. They didn't have time for me when I arrived but I got to sit in a massage chair and talk with my friend. About 15 minutes in one of the girls finished early and they were able to give me an express pedicure. It wasn't rushed, it was relaxing and they did a great job on both of us. I have had much better experiences. The gal who did my french pedicure did a nice job, however, the overall experience was sub-par and a bit unnerving and I will not be going back. The soak and scrub was quick and felt rushed. The gal who did my manicure clipped two of my fingers (ouch!) and they hurt pretty badly even for a few hours after I left the salon. The massage chair was still running while getting a manicure--really prefer getting a manicure at a proper station--thus the drawn blood. They turned the chair off mid-cycle and the location of the rods in the chair were in a position such that my back was killing me--I mentioned it, but it didn't seem to register. While seemingly kind, all in all, I think the staff were really not very attentive and rushed to get people in and out. read more

I love Hoa for a pedicure. I've been to both the Roosevelt and Ballard locations, and both are extremely clean and beautiful inside. The women who work there are very friendly and polite, and they do a great job. If you know of a better, cheaper pedicure, I'd love to know about it. Hoa does a better job on the polish and shape, and gives much better and longer leg and foot massages than all of the high-end salon/spas I've been to. And they are about half the price. They also have a frequent visitor punch card! read more

I just spent one of the best hours of my entire life getting a mani-pedi at Hoa. First of all, the price is incredible for the service you get. $42 buys you a full hour of massage, pampering and bliss. The manicurist massaged my arms, and then even my neck! The pedicurist gave an excellent massage as well, all the way up to the knee. They were courteous, sweet, and gave me one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. My hands and feet look and feel incredible, and my body is more relaxed than after more expensive massages at places like Gene Juarez. Tip these women well, they earn it, and they are so grateful for your appreciation. I will go back at least once a month for the rest of my life. read more

Very inexpensive. Not incredible quality, but... did I mention that it's very inexpensive!? They do a solid job. Yes, as others have mentioned, they tend to rush a bit (you'd have to, too if you were a business charging under the going norm and depending on quantity rather than high prices); yes, as others have mentioned the ladies don't seem to understand much English and are not chatty, but it's solid work, they had a caring attitude for me and the other 2 in my party; were professional, clean and a solid value. I just got a mani pedi and my feet feel rougher than when I went in. Unfortunately, despite asking the girls to apply more coats of paint on my nails they did not. The prices are resonable and the best part is it doesnt smell like a nail place and theres not that chitty chatter going on during the service. I seldom visit salons so my experiences with Hoa on Roosevelt were a year apart. My first visit was very comfortable but the Shellac manicure did not last and was chipped within a week. I wrote to Michelle Nguyen to share my disappointment, she immediately offered to have my nails redone. I was not able to visit the shop again for a year, but she remained true to her offer and the job done with shellac on that occasion lasted well into 3 weeks and offered a flash of color is you did not look too closely after 4 weeks. I appreciated both her willingness to stand behind the work of the salon and to do so after such a long gap. Thank you Ms. Nguyen. read more

I went in to get a shellac manicure and initially a few of my nails were bubbling weird. But they willingly fixed everything right away. That night I had a nail do the same thing and the next day I went in and they fixed it for me again for free. read more

I used to love, love, love coming here but my last two visits (6 months apart) have been horrible. They were either incredibly sloppy about the trimming and filing or they barely touched my toes to do any maintenance! It would be forgivable if the massage was decent but both times, with two different technicians (if you can even call them that) spent minimal time rubbing up and down the top of my calf oh so lightly, barely touching me feet at all. There was no technique or pressure either time. They looked so bored and put out with having to rub my feet. I work long hours on my feet and look forward to a good rub with a pedicure. Hoa used to be the best at this but now their pedicures are barely glorified polish changes. So very frustrating and not worth the high price! read more

If you are getting acrylics do not go here, within the first 24 hours 2 of mine had broken without them being banged against anything when I went back to get them fixed they were very nice and fixed them free of charge however not more then 3 hours later one had broken again. read more

Hoa Salon is an absolute delight. The ladies take care of your mani/pedi /waxing needs very delicately to your desire. The entire salon has a very zen feel. I always leave feeling rejuvinated with glamorous hands and feet. Ladies (and Gents), if you can't spend a day at the spa just spend some time at Hoa Salon. UPDATE: Thank you for the reply, Michelle. I certainly can understand your difficulty if my daughter-in-law didn't inform you or confirm. However, I personally received no direct information from your staff - other than to "wait". It wasn't the waiting that was a problem - it was the lack of communication to me as an individual. I'm glad you spoke to the bride, but I was the one that was waiting and separated from the wedding party. Also I find it interesting that you go into great detail surrounding the details of the appointment but didn't address my being cut, or the fact that the nails are pulling away. You only say I should have let you know. As it was my first set of acrylics, it looked OK to me. Now 5 days later the edges are pulling up - that's not something I could have had you fix then. It felt like you were pushing us all through (which your reply seems to verify) and quality suffered. This review was to document my experience. Maybe it was a fluke, but I certainly did not see great customer service in interactions with me, and the quality of the work was poor. read more

Once you enter Hoa Salon, you know that you are in a tranquil and beautiful atmosphere. This is for the girls who enjoy their spa and know how to pamper themselves. There is no nail polish smell and the place is fairly clean. I made an appointment like an hour before, and they were able to accommodate me easily. Since I was in a bit of a rush for my wedding preparations, they were able to do my manicure and pedicure at the same time (yay!). Try to be on time for the appointment, when my sister and cousin went, they rushed her a bit. The receptionist was fluent in English and brought me water while the nail technicians for both my manicure and pedicure were friendly- smiling yet not gossipy- perfect for relaxing. I don't think they spoke too much English but they did seem to understand that I wanted oval shape and when it tickled! I almost did not want to leave the massage chair- it was that good. They also gave me a bit of a leg message and neck massage that was pretty decent (both nail technicians!).The manicurist also gave me gloves to put on for the shellac manicure so my hands would not hurt. They also gave me these cute flip flops to stay in while I was waiting for my fiance. The owner is friendly and greets everyone, seeming to make sure that everyone is satisfied with their service. On Wednesdays they have a discount too which was nice. Now, if only I could get manicures and pedicures like this every day! read more
