Not to start, but to actually even be there. Fortunately this go-round was only ~5 minutes, whereas last time I called multiple times to no answer and waited for nearly 20 minutes. I opted to give Swift another go because of proximity to home and she did a good job last time, but the ol' fool me once rule is at play here and I don't think I'll be returning. She's a perfectly lovely individual and the wax is probably a 4 star experience, but not being able to count on her being there on time is a deal breaker for me.

Her philosophy with the whole thing is to make you remember every part of the experience except the most painful part (i.e. hair removal). I totally recommend checking Good JuJu Out! Maps told me it would take 45 minutes to get there. I guess it thought I would be going 15mph the whole way. I was finally able to call them to let them know I was almost there. The receptionist said it's 10 minutes into your appointment time so she won't be able to do your treatment but she can still do your consultation. I walked in 2 minutes later and she said she couldn't do it. I said I just got of the phone and they said I could so she went back to ask the nurse Erin if she could do it and she said no because her next client was going to be there in 15 minutes. The consultation I needed was one she had already given me. It would have taken 2 minutes. Needless to say I won't be returning.

We recommend microneedling or micropenning to brighten the skin and address texture.

Seattle Skin Essentials is the best Salon experience I have ever had, hands down, and I have had a lot of them! First, the prices cant be beat! With no corporate overhead or sales pressure, Carey offers excellent, LOW prices on amazingly well done services without leaving feeling like you have to purchase products to give the esthetician commission, as I've felt in chain spas. In other salons, I could never fully enjoy the experience because in the back of my mind the price tag was flashing before my eyes! Not here though, her prices are the lowest I have seen for the best work on my most necessary services. I have seen her for a variety of body waxing once a month for over a year now and let me tell you that I have never felt more comfortable! She is personable and professional, caring (offering lemonade, tea, etc., to make your visit more comfortable), very knowledgeable (tells me all about her products and knows the details!), and is very fast! Especially with waxing, you hate it to take longer than necessary, and she doesn't leave you hanging and works like a pro! I never leave with hairs left behind and she makes it as pain free as you can hope for! Her in-home spa studio is very clean, relaxing and welcoming! Spa music and aromatherapy are added bonuses. I have gone to Carey for two facials thus far, and really love her services. She is very friendly and easy to talk with, and provides exceptional care. She has a one-room spa that is comfortable, with a plush bed, warm sheets (heated if you're cold!), and she can put a bolster under you knees for extra comfort. She provides the small touches - like delicious tea beforehand - that really add to the relaxing atmosphere. Both times I have been in, Carey did an assessment of my skincare needs, exfoliated, and performed targeted microdermabrasion or LED treatment as needed. After the facial, she recommended a skin care routine and even had samples for low cost that I could try out. Additionally, she spent time getting a knot out of my shoulder and recommended a massage therapist who could pick up where she left off. I can't recommend her highly enough for the personable, personalized, and high-quality care that she provides. I wanted to have an eyebrow and lash tint and also a facial peel - I had never had either service before and was overwhelmed by all the different types available - whew! way too much info for a newbie!!! I also hate having to go downtown - even though I live next door - just don't do that - so I searched for a salon in my neighborhood and found Skin Essentials which was perfect - I could walk there if I wanted to! I paid much less - for the same service I would receive downtown! very relaxing and private! Carey- the owner - educated me on tinting and peels which was much needed! - then I just relaxed and let her do her thing- it was great - I love the tinting-(didn't even know about this service beforehand as I was so low maintenance regarding my own needs - but not anymore - now its all about meeee! hahah)- it will be hard to keep me away from the salon and will be scheduling another tint and peel for next week - with many more to come!!! read more

Carey's place is my idea of the perfect spa. Seriously. Carey welcomed me to her home studio, which has beautiful potted tomato plants on the stairs and Tibetan prayer flags overhead. She uses a screened porch , the Zen Den, as a dedicated room for waxing and skin care. Orchids, art tiles, a Buddha hand, and fluttering curtains give the studio a calm vibe. And the place was SPOTLESS. Carey is confident, down-to-earth and funny. She put me at ease right away. I had a medical facial with a brow and lip wax. Carey explained what she was doing, used essential oils, and included such a lovely massage. Not having all the hubbub of other spa goers and staff really made this facial relaxing. Plus, my skin looks amazing! I can see a big difference. And gorgeous brows too. Carey is extremely knowledgeable. I'm definitely going to make this part of my routine - and with Carey's prices, that's doable. read more

I found Seattle Skin Essentials on Yelp and decided to make an appointment for a facial. I arrived a my appointment and was greeted by Carey, who offered me tea or spa water (I had green tea). Her space is decorated in Asian motif and immediately I was relaxed and feeling pampered. Very nice! I had selected the "Anti Aging" facial and added on microdermabrasion and lots of hydration. I got a great face, neck and shoulder massage which was really relaxing, and I don't typically like massages all that much due to having fibromyalgia! My skin felt and looked amazing. I'm beyond satisfied with my experience and so glad I tried them out. I definitely plan on return for some body waxing and another microdermbrasion soon. I've been seeing Carey for electrolysis for a while now and have been thrilled with the results. I have had waxing, facials, peels and electrolysis from Carey and have never been disappointed. As a large woman, I was a bit self conscious about someone seeing so much of me but Carey has always been professional and respectful. She has taught me a lot about taking better care of my skin and has made some product suggestions but I have never felt pressured to buy. The PCA line she carries is pretty awesome stuff. I truly enjoy my time with Carey and leave her feeling better about myself. She is everything you could want in an aesthetician: skilled, patient, detail oriented, and knowledgable. I have been to a few different electrologists in the Seattle area and Carey is as good as it gets! She is incredibly knowledgeable and super fun to chat with while she works. She works twice as fast as any other electrologist I have seen before with half the pain and still manages to achieve way better results- she's seriously great at her job. Her prices are super reasonable for the quality of her work too! I wish I would have come to Carey at the start of my electrolysis journey and not wasted money else where. Carey has been my go-to person for skin advice for at least a couple years. She was the first to suggest tinting my light, barely-visible eyelashes, and I like them so much I don't think I will ever want to stop now! She has also guided me to great skin products that were exactly what I needed - for example a cream that works to help my skin avoid damage when playing soccer in the cold twice a week, and an anti-redness serum that has worked great. I know she takes a lot of time in making sure her products and work are solid, and that her customers are satisfied. I love my appointments with Carey! I have been receiving facials from her for about 6 months now and have gotten great results with my skin. I just had a peel yesterday and someone complimented me a few hours after saying that that my skin looked great (no makeup!) and I was "glowing!" Carey is the best. She's the only person I've ever had for electrolysis, or any esthetic-type thing for that matter, and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I'd always be thinking: why aren't they doing it as well as Carey? She goes out of her way to make you look good. She's super knowledgeable about skin care and biology. This place is great! I got a microderabrasion the other day from Carey. It was my first one, so I was a little nervous because my skin can be very sensitive. But Carey was attentive to the specific needs of my skin, and I was amazed by the results! My skin felt soooo smooth the next day! She even followed up with me to see how my skin was. Since it was sort of dry, she had me come back in for a moisture mask. It was exactly what I needed. And I loved that she explained the different products she was using and why she used them. One thing I love is her follow up care, she always checks in via text, call or email to make sure your skin is doing ok after a procedure. I wish this would have been double checked prior to being used on me because even if it's probably fine only happening once and (hopefully) it wasn't in a high dosage.. but was unable to confirm this - it still caused me immense anxiety that I really wish was avoided. I washed it off and emailed my doctor. But I still feel awful and wish more precaution was taken. This was my first facial since becoming pregnant (almost 27 weeks now) and I was really looking forward to it and thought I'd be safe here. Unfortunately I didn't feel safe and I wish I never came now. They don't have pregnancy pillows to accommodate pregnant individuals either. I'd go elsewhere if you're expecting but otherwise they usually do a great job... pretty disappointed this happened to me though /:

She does a great job communicating during the entire process. I have extremely sensitive skin and I also hate fragrance, but the products she used worked great for me. The scents of her products were so lovely and natural. I got a facial yesterday and I can't get over how soft my face is. She also did extractions, which hurt way less than they do when I get facials elsewhere. ALSO- the arm and hand massage changed my life. I'm booking her for the next 3 months right now!
