Love this place! Love the curbside pick up they have adopted. Only downside, wish they were open later!

The only problem is when you arrived and you are waiting for the hostess to sit you down . But they are not very well organized, they take way too long . And then when you are sitting down . They took way too long to take our drinks. And the most important they don't tell you they charge you if you use your credit or debit card . 3%. They need to tell you so you can make a decision to pay cash . But they do have excellent food . Well done to the chef .

The pork chop was really tender. Could cut it with a fork it was that good very moist and not dried out. I also ordered the brussels sprouts as a side dish with the drizzle of hot barbecue really good and crispy. Best brussels sprout sprouts I've ever had not to overcook not too crispy just right. For an appetizer I ordered the homemade potato chips with French onion dip. They were good I thought maybe they might be warm but that's OK if they weren't they were not seasoned at all. I ordered them with the French onion dip. Waitress brought my ticket to me and said it in front of me and I said isn't there something you want to ask me? She said oh would you like to try dessert and I said yes I said OK so she took the ticket away. I ordered the Keylime pie. I asked if any of them were homemade said the only thing homemade was the handspun milkshakes. Everything else was ordered from a bakery out of Chicago. The Keylime pie was really good. Great flavor to it. Nice thick graham cracker crust. Dining room is really decorated nice. Has a lot of home decor things and the expose brick wall on the dining room is unique. You could tell it was an old building. Mismatch chairs, and tables make it unique and eclectic. The bar is in the middle of the dining room makes it feel not like so much a bar, but kind of a really welcoming atmosphere. Olivia was my waitress. She was very good and prompt more refills and other follow ups.

The green beans had bacon and while speaking with the owner everything is made from scratch with real butter etc. Pictures on the walls are interesting. Signed photo to her grandfather from Festus. Really fun, western, rustic restaurant theme. Hitchin Post is essentially a cozy diner. Sunday lunch special is the big hit. Chicken noodles, stuffing, green beans, and more. A decent selection of desserts. Food during my first visit was a tad on the salty side, but haven't had that issue on subsequent visits. Chow has been spot on. Service is quick and friendly. Price can't be beat. I'm withholding one star based on the menu. Standard fare from cover to cover, but a five star joint should have a unique, defining dish that sets it apart. Sunday chicken noodles might be it, but I'd love to see what else they can hash together in the kitchen. Nice place for a good lunch.

I would've given a five star review but the service was very slow and 2 stars at best. It could have been more prompt and efficient. We waited for seven minutes before our first acknowledgement by our waiter/ server. It was just my girlfriend and myself. Once the waiter finally came to the table and took our order a lot time had lapse. Never once did come to ask how the food was once our main entrée was delivered. He asked how everything was when he presented the check. During the wait for him to return to the table to take our dessert order, there was a bus boy at the nearby table clearing another table. I asked him to take a plate that was left on our table and he said that the servers job I don't do that. I told him no you need to take it now and he gave me a rather rude look and stare. The intervals from which the waiter came back to the table was very long. It would've helped if the chairs had been padded but they were hard with like school room chairs. The dining room was decorated very nice and the decor and artwork is very tasteful. Music was a little loud. The food was exceptionally good from the appetizer to the main course to our dessert. It was exceptional. That is five stars ONLY - The service really was a lot to be desired for a good tip and review.
