Hubba hubba! I'll take one of each, please.

Wow! What a gem! If you are into building things, racing things, being creative.. this I the store to go to. Floor to ceiling stocked with awesome items that would all make great gifts. Customer service was very friendly, and I was greeted right away which I always appreciate. I noted in another review that someone said it was hot in the shop, and I must say it was a bit warm on a chilly morning inside, so it is a little stuffy in the shop. This will not deter me from being a customer, I will just take into consideration what times of day I go into shop. :)

Just a few of the things I got from Hobby Headquarters (not including my cat )

These guys are fantastic. I've never been to a better hobby shop. They do a fantastic job with their inventory and if they somehow don't have what you need they can get it. Even odd branded parts they can bring in for you. Also super friendly. This place is great and if you are looking for anything hobby related, this is the place because they have it!

Tons of speciality parts and pieces.

I know it says currently I only have 1 check-in here, but I've been here half a dozen times easily. The thing is I have bad cell service in A-Town and usually I'm too stoked to remember to pull out my phone. The guys who work here are serious experts. Show up with a random part or piece of something and chances are they kind, solder it, replace it, fix, find you a new one, or tell you how to attach it. I've gotten tools and parts and pieces here for my Slash 4x4 and they have an enormous selection of parts for multiple RC disciplines. Feel free to ask questions, dumb ones too and they'll happily break things down Barney style. On the weekends, (or at least Saturday) that have a track setup in the parking lot to run your vehicles around. If you ever need coaching tips, and are tired of ordering the wrong thing online or just watching YouTube videos, these guys are the real life pros.

I was welcomed by a surprisingly large selection of anything and everything RC and not to mention an extremely helpful staff.

Beware - this place is a tourist trap! I placed an order through their website and visited the…read morestore on 4/4, only to find out it was a complete scam. The owner actually laughed while telling us he had just warned another customer that the website isn't accurate and that he cancels all online orders. He still has the site up, fully functional, which is incredibly misleading. There are no graded Pokémon cards available--just loose singles. Shelves were filled with opened tins and TCG Live code cards, making it seem like the inventory is being tampered with behind the scenes. It's not hard to password-protect a website if you don't want people placing orders, yet the site remains live, clearly just to lure in unsuspecting customers. We called the store afterward to ask about our refund and were completely ignored--no one answered. Instead of focusing on Google reviews, maybe the owner should focus on updating his inventory and answering the phone. After three days with no communication and no refund confirmation (only a single email stating the order was canceled), I had to call my bank to reverse the charge myself. Total waste of time and very frustrating. If I could give zero stars, I would. Highly unprofessional experience

For some odd reason, they typically have many types of doormats and various other "thing-a-ma-gigs", like analog wall clocks. It is best to go when they have a 50% off sale, and then you can save. They do serve a diverse crowd, and one can see Cal Poly students of all types, including international students. The younger crowd goes mostly for dorm furnishings, while the older locals go for fabric, plastic flowers, and crafts. The service here is really nice at checkouts, but you can feel kind of neglected in store...but not as forgotten as in many Big Box or discount stores. As far as where one wants to shop, it is not like Amazon has moral superiority, over here. At the very least, HL does let you touch the items that one contemplate getting. This is more important when one wants to hang a clock in ones living area for example. Many clocks and other items have deceptively rendered near-fake pictures on Amazon for many items, not to mention fake reviews. It is kind of fun to stop in here for targeted missions that could also include World Market, Nordstroms, and off course Sprouts. If one is on a discount mission, then the nearby Ross's, Five Below, and a short drive to the nearby TJX, Home Goods, Dollar Tree, & Grocery Outlet can take up a whole weekend of time.
