Save yourself the time and shop online. They have a decent selection of RC stuff and other fun hobby things but they do not make you feel welcome. The kid working the register and the owner seemed annoyed my family and I were looking around. When I asked a question the kid just looked at the owner then he handed me the part I was talking about without saying a word. Not a huge deal but it definitely set the tone. I the. asked another simple question minutes later and was met with a snarky reply that again seemed annoyed I was even asking it. They also had "Sale" signs on items that were still selling at their normal price. Seems a little shady to me. That should've been my first sign of the type of store I was walking into. I guess I had high hopes for a RC hobby store since it a fun hobby and talking with other RCers is usually fun. read more

Person running store (Zach, assuming it's the owner) wasn't exactly rude but also wasn't welcoming or seemingly interested that he had customers. I love this place. My goodness, they even have my Traxxas Hoss body that has been discontinued! There are other sections for just about any hobby you can imagine. I think this is a great place for kids, young adults and elders. They even have a few Rage RC planes for beginner pilots like me. I came there specifically for repairs to my steering column on the Traxxas Hoss. I drove it a little hard along the beach. I was worried that they didn't sell spare parts because Yelp's pictures made it look like it's not a serious hobby place. I'm glad I called because Zach said they got "some parts". One thing he got wrong is that they don't just have some parts but they have everything for Traxxas and Armas! Prices are fair and I encourage all of you to always support your local stores. Zach knows a lot about these RC trucks. I'm able to potentially diagnose another problem and possibly fix it when I get home. He doesn't do repairs at the time of this writing because it just takes up too much time. I totally understand and I hope he can someday find time again as some of us wouldn't mind paying for the service. This guy has a very poor customer service attitude. He speaks down to you as if you're some kind of dummy. No help whatsoever with defective battery that he sold me. See receipts. 90 day warranty on batteries until he points out in a pompous way "says Zacksters battery" " Does the battery say zackster?" Then says he doesn't even sell them anymore. So update the receipts is what I'm thinking. Says go to the website and deal with manufacturer. Not very knowledgeable of what he sells. I would not recommend buying from him. Great little store that has a wide variety of products. A few weeks ago I was in the market for an RC vehicle that my nephew wanted and had no idea that there are so many options. The worker was very helpful and pointed me to a popular option for around $300. That seemed like a lot but they had vehicles well in the $1000 so it was a closer to the middle and of course closer to my budget. He went over how to use the vehicle and told me that if they had any issues to come in. Yesterday I had to come back as I didn't remember how to charge the vehicle and they walked me through it once again. Very happy with the service. read more

I was on vacation and forgot my extra battery for my 11v. Axial YETi. I asked Google for a hobby store near me, and 1.9 miles away, it suggested Zscster's Hobbies and more. I was greeted when I walked in with my RC car. The man behind the counter didn't have exactly what I needed but bent over backward to help find me something that worked with me set up. I'm new to Zacster's but in the short amount of time I have spent over $4,000 on RC cars and trucks and batteries. He always seemed pleasant and happy to take my credit card and cash until I had a problem with a $700 RC truck. I purchased the truck on a Friday afternoon drove it once over the weekend and brought it back on Monday morning. Barely three days have passed and the vehicle was having problems with the gear meshing incorrectly. I figured he's always been helpful I should go back to him for help? What proceeded shocked me.. I asked him if you can help me with the warranty or could I return it and he said absolutely not! He literally said "This is not my problem it is between you and losi". I asked him how this was not his problem since he sold it to me 3 days ago. He said I cannot get involved because they're going to ask for the truck and they're going to ask a lot of questions. I told him I was willing to leave the truck. Again he said this is not my problem. I have dealt with other hobby shops and all of them have been more than accommodating. Beware and remember if you buy something that doesn't work correctly it's not his problem. read more

I went in today to get parts for my rc car and they didn't have them in stock the guy who was helping me laughed at me and said I have not had that part in my store for over 20 years but they had all of the other parts for a traxxas emaxx wich I didn't understand and instead of him saying hey I could order that part for you he just laughed at me and said good luck finding the part he was very rude!!! The sad part is that the owner himself has the worst service my family has ever been forced to endure on the central coast. 9 out of 10 visits we've been pushed out the door early so he can close early. It was a nice shop. Measures in place for Covid precautions. I was traveling when I found this place. I usually stop then spend/support hobby shops. Hobby shops are a dying business now a days and I miss the experience of walking into them because you'll never know what you'll find. Score! I find this place on Yelp. So I walk-in found that have a little bit of everything; very good use of the floor space. I walked in very enthusiastically, found some items and made my purchase. Unfortunately, it was very apparent the person working there was in no mood to converse nor seemed appreciative of my business. This was largely due to his one word answers to any and all my questions, positive comments and expressed appreciation of the place. *i was the only person in there for a while too. I wasn't expecting a show shine, but the idea I got was that he couldn't wait for me to leave because I asked about a particular item in the display case. I was told there weren't in stock, but he didn't bother to suggest other alternatives to other similar items on display. I can buy what I did on Amazon at the same or cheaper prices to be delivered to my home. Knowing this I would shop at "Brick and Mortar" because I know folks are trying to make a living. To shoppers like me, customer service and personality of the staff is important integral part of the Specialty Shop experience. That is a large reason as to why I'll go and spend because it's nice to see people in the business of specialty items who are usually mutually enthusiastic about the product. The RC Car section is impressive and should appeal to both new and experienced RC vehicle enthusiasts. For kids Zacster's is heaven! Everything from Nerf guns (and entire section), paint by number, Pokemon cards, Kinnect, etc. Puzzle enthusiasts will be pleased with the selection and if you love board games, this is your place. So many choices! Our entire family is making wish lists from Zacster's for future birthdays... Also, if you have a kid going to camp, Zacster's has great selection of items that are suitable for those send to camp packages. I visited Zackters to search for unique Christmas gifts for my two grandsons. I found an array of unique electronic, toy and hobby items that you won't find in a big box retailer. The owner Zack helped me pick out items that would be appropriate for a 3 and 5 year old. I shot a pic on my cellphone of motorized construction items and emailed it to my daughter. Her response was "Oh my God, they will love these." Now, I have two more items checked off of my Christmas list due to the thoughtfulness and assistance of Zack and Zacksters. They also gift wrapped the items. Zacksters is a very unique hobby store with a great selection of merchandise and a very friendly owner. It is a relatively new business worthy of consideration from residents in and around Los Osos. They also have a loyalty discount program based on purchases. Best Little Hobby Store On The Central Coast! Zac carries a nice assortment of hobby related products and toys in his store. If you are into drones like I am, Zac stocks a variety of drones, accessories and parts ranging from beginner indoor drones to mid level racing drones . I picked up a couple of entry and mid level, near RTF racing drones from Zac. Sure I probably could have paid a bit less on Ebay, online or from Banggood (China). However, if you run into problems or issues getting your drone up and running, good luck in trying to resolving those issues from an online or overseas company. Zac goes the extra mile in helping resolve whatever issue I've had. He even contacted the company in China while trouble shooting what was preventing an entry level racing drone from performing as advertised. Zac stands behind the products he sells. Already have a drone so wasn't looking for anything in particular. Really impressed with the selection of not just RC but also academic science kits, puzzles, games, and art supplies. Went in yesterday and decided to go for it and bought a high-end RC buggy. While thinking about it, listened as Zac (assuming it's Zac) helped a boy of about 7-years-old with his RC car that wasn't working. Zac was patient and took a lot of time helping the little one get his car going again, at the same time offering to answer any questions I had. I was trying to decide between two models and Zac clearly detailed the difference between the models and the benefits of the pricier model, without any hard-sell for the more expensive model. I went with the more expensive model and Zac was amazing post-purchase explaining all the features, support and things to look out for. Really superb customer service and the prices were actually lower than Amazon. And very happy to support the small, local, family-run business.
