Visited this store two times in the past 3 months and noticed a lot more sales and seasonal items in inventory. They moved things around from aisle to aisle. But it seemed more organized than before. The employees were friendly, greeted us as we entered the store. Checkout time was good, as the employee who worked as a cashier was amicable and pleasant to deal with after our shopping experience. This hobby lobby racially profiled me. An employee was following me the whole time I was shopping and I have a SEVERE anxiety disorder and paranoia due to a stalking incident I had in the past. I had already had to work up the courage to enter the store and shop, and it was obvious why they were following me. I asked them politely to stop but they refused to do so. Let me start by saying, I love hobby lobby and have been shopping here and boasting about it for years. So much more than the competitors, that I drove 35 mins here each way from Seattle for the things I needed tonight. The staff this evening was horrible. From the moment I walked in until it was time to leave, the employee standing at the returns and exchanges register was talking on the intercom for "security" to monitor certain areas. It was never any sections I was shopping, however it made me very uncomfortable and they were clearly targeting another guest. "Security, watch wearables", "Security, record the back wall", "Security, walk through frames". Eye roll... I gathered my usual purchases and headed to the register. I know my favorite brands. Fine touch and masters touch brushes & paints 50% off, Anitas paint 30% off, $10.99 all size packs of value canvas. I have a paint business around seattle, I have been buying super value packs of canvas for years. Hundreds of them. First Malia advised me that masters touch paint was on sale but the Anita was not. Her co worker at the returns and exchanges register chimed in to let her know she was incorrect. We got to the canvas packs. She told me they were $12.99. I let her know they are on sale and the display is marked $10.99. She stated "we don't give discounts on value items" and that these are not on sale. I asked if she would come look or have someone else view the display. She said no. Her co worker at the returns and exchange register chimed in this time to let me know that I was wrong, that they were $12.99 and they won't be offering any sales on them. I went to go take pics. I returned to the register with the pictures of the display and they refused to look at them. They called the manager up. I then showed them the weekly ad that is sitting at each register as a cashier reference guide that shows them all that these are always $10.99. The manager told Malia "go ahead". She finalized my bill and I paid and said thank you. I never received an apology from either cashier or the manager. I posted the pics for yelpers reference. I've never had so much debate about a few dollars. This is also a very basic weekly sale that they should review. If there is a conflict of price they should better handle a customer debate and be willing to review the items and prices with the customer. They should apologize when wrong. I can't believe you took our Hobby Lobby away on Union street in Tacoma. If you really were experiencing that much shrinkage, it would have cost you less to hire an off duty policeman to check sales slips as people exited only one door kept open! There are a lot of people using that store, and we live in a big city. Now we have to go many miles to one of your stores. I'm just waiting for you to close this one too! Ignoring their politics, Hobby Lobby has some pretty cool stuff. When first walking in I was greeted by fake flowers. Aisles and aisles of fake flowers --I guess those are more popular than I give them credit for!? As I worked my way around the store I started to notice that they have basically anything and everything you could want for arts and crafts. Fabrics, paints, and yarns - oh my!! Not the artsy kind of person? That's cool. They have a TON of home goods/trinkets that are already ready to go. When I walked in there were three employees talking to each other, I don't know whether they were talking about work or just talking. I asked for help and they pointed to where my item should be. I couldn't find the item and so I went back and told them I couldn't find it, one of the women was super kind. She went back and got it for me. This review isn't just about this location. I am buffled by the lack of good customer service, everywhere at most HL. I was at this location looking for a specific yarn. I was in a row in which I thought all their yarn was available. I finally tracked down an associate,that might be able to help me, she did inform me there were two more rows of yarn. Did she happen to walk me over and help me find my yarn, no way, she pointed. It's not this location but every location AND all department I've been at. I have either heard it is over there while pointing and that's where they expected me to go or we don't have it here but weren't willing to find elsewhere. In that case you hear, "Here's their phone number." Nobody helps you find anything beyond what is within a 15 foot of where they standing. I could not be sadder about lack of good customer service in general, especially here that an organization, I thought was more custom centric. read more

If I could give this store a lower rating I would. I came into this hobby lobby in hopes to craft bracelets to gift to my friends. I was looking for something very specific and could only find one version of what I was hoping make. I was probably in the store for 10 minutes before the PA SYSTEM was calling "code this and that" and finally "PD on line one". All I could think was that someone was caught doing something they shouldn't have been doing and continued shopping. I had found some hopeful pieces but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for so I delicately placed each item back where I found them. I thought I would come back another time or search online to see if they had what I wanted in stock at another store. I went into the next isle and that's when I noticed that TWO employees were following me. Lightbulbs went off in my head and I directly asked if they thought I was shoplifting. They responded with "just doing my job." I was so offended. I even offered them to look in my purse if they really wanted to. They again responded with "just doing my job." I was so embarrassed, offended, and utterly insulted. What I value about hobby lobby and stores like it is that you have an opportunity to browse to find the perfect piece for your craft. Apparently not here. I was in the store for approximately 30 mins total before I left. I will NEVER shop at this store or ANY other hobby lobby in the future. It doesn't matter to them that majority of my crafts and home decorations have come from this store which I have in fact, PAID FOR. I only come here for Christmas decoration shopping. The decorations have been so terrible & low quality everywhere else that this is now pretty much the ONLY place I buy ornaments anymore. Used to buy em at Pier One & mall anchor stores, but for the past half decade, they've sold the exact same decorations every year. Target has some of the cheapest tackiest decorations I've ever seen. Big Lots is surprisingly okay but limited. Walmart is... well, Walmart. Hobby Lobby has the ONLY shatterproof ornaments that don't look like they were pieced together by child laborers with 5 cents worth of plastic & foam. I used to only buy ceramic, resin, & glass ornaments before seeing the plastic ones here. & they have those too. They also have a large selection of wall & table decorations for christmas. A lot more than a lot of other stores carry. The selections are best if you shop in November, when everything is in full stock. read more

I strongly dislike Hobby Lobby but at the moment it's the only place other then Amazon I can find what I need and I needed it ASAP. I thought to myself download the app and use a coupon. What a waste of time. They don't have coupons. It's a useless app. So I found what I wanted for more then I'd pay elsewhere and go out. Whenever I asked where something is I get told where it is in the store or that's not my department. Other stores will walk me to the aisle and help find the product. Now back to the last time I was there. I went to check out and they had one register open and it was also for returns/exchanges. There is a long line so they finally open another register. I feel awful for all the associates who have to work and have Bella as their manager. She has utterly no people skills and clearly thinks she Is better than everyone which she has no right....as a Hobby Lobby supervisor. She blatantly accused me of stealing because I had to run out to my car to get my phone charger so I could transfer money into my checking account. And then continued to talk shit even after I returned to the store to buy my items. Intentionally loud enough for me to hear. The gentleman who rang me up was amazing. Unfortunately I will not be shopping here anymore as I would rather go somewhere where the employees know how to be respectful. You're a minimum wage retail nothing. You can be easily replaced. The store itself is awesome, but the last time I shopped here the employees were rude and not knowledgeable. Their signs aren't very helpful or clear which is frustrating for customers. Also I don't know what kind of system they use, but it really needs to be updated. It seems like the employees need to know the sales in order to ring you up correctly instead of having their system do the work. You need to watch EVERYTHING they enter because they manually enter the prices and they can easily ring you up incorrectly. If you say a product is on sale and the employee doesn't know if it's correct, you have to wait for them to call a manager, wait for them to respond, wait for them to confirm that the sale is correct. Waste of resources and time. Not to mention the terrible customer experience. The cashier that helped me today was incredibly condescending when I asked if a product was on sale. When I said their signs are a bit confusing she was defensive and didn't apologize for the confusion. I used to work in a customer service position and I would never talk to a customer like that. I do my absolute best to avoid this Hobby Lobby. I travel a little further to the Tacoma location because their customer service is much better. This place leaves a sour taste in my mouth because of ONE employee. I'm not sure if she is the manager, but she is an older lady and I see her bossing other associates around. She usually is at the cashier closest to the door. Can I vent a little on here? 1st incident: I stood in line, and I had a return. I was next in line and she's like "returns are on cashier #3". Uhm, there is no sign indicating that cash register #3 is returns only. And I've already been standing in your line for 10 minutes. 2nd incident: When the person in front of me was done with their purchase, she walked away. Uhm, hello? I'm right here. The least you can do is tell me that you'll be right back or if the cashier is closed. I waited a minute and saw that she was assisting another cashier so I went to another line. She comes back a few minutes later and tells the person in front of me that she can help her. I'm so peeved with this lady, I wish I got her name. This is Christmas for me. Every.Single.Visit. I went to Hobby Lobby often when I lived in Utah. When I learned they were building stores in WA, I was so excited, I drove my car literally up the sidewalk to the front doors to find out opening day. This place has everything you want for every hobby and craft on the planet with a wide selection. Their website sucks but the stores are fantastic. They always have the most superb selection of items during Christmas, including ornaments as big as your head and those huge red velvet bows for cars you see in commercials. They also have a lot of things to decorate your home and many useful items for planning and decorating for a party or wedding. I have recently bought two matching end table lamps for $10 each. I am an artist - I paint, make/sell handmade cards, scrapbook, and am a writer. I get all of my canvas and painting supplies from here. I buy all of my paper, cardstock, punches, etc. for cards and scrapbooking here. They also have framing services here, which I've used for my personal art and for business purposes too. They will frame something on the spot for me in 1 hour or less if it's priceless and I shop around while I wait. Otherwise I can come back in a week to pick it up. I also paint unfinished wood and sometimes like to do those pre-carved wood items for the holidays. They are very hard to find in any other craft store, but they sell them here. They always have sales, and if you download their app for your phone, you get a 40% coupon to use anytime on anything in the store. Also, if you buy something at one store you can return it another one of their stores. The only cons I have for this chain is that they close at 8 PM instead of the universal 9 PM in all other retail and they are closed on Sundays. read more

This store should be ashamed of itself. Workers everywhere but instead of asking if you need help when they notice you're taking a long time deciding on items they instead decide they "don't like the way you shop" and ask you to pay for what you have in your basket and if you want to do more shopping afterwards then you can do so. What I needed was some assistance and as much as I wanted to put everything back and not spend a dime I instead proceeded to a register, got a really friendly and organized cashier, paid her a complement because I tread others how I wish to be treated, and paid for my items spending the last $94 I will ever spend at Hobby Lobby again. I would leave one star, but the stuff here is pretty cute. Hint: you can also shop online to avoid this disaster. Unfortunately the half dozen times I have come here, I waited 20 min in line if not more. The unfair thing was every time they open a new line they open it for people just showing up to the line, not for the people that having been for 20 min. The store fits the older folk who have no manners and don't care about cutting in line and whine there way to the front. I wanted to write because I had boughten invitations from the Federal Way Hobby Lobby in July 2016. I specifically asked the women who checked me out if I could return these because I wasn't sure if I was 100% on them. She kindly said yes and that was it. I just came back in and was notified the policy was 90 days and they could give me store credit, which I was fine with. They said the invitations were discontinued and they could give me 90% of the value. I told them what I was originally told and a Assistant manager was brought over, her name was Patty. She quickly wrote me off and was very rude about the situation. She said oh well and that's it and just starred at me with a growling face. I can't believe how she treated me and I wish something could hav been done since I was misinformed about the policy. Tim the store manager is incredibly useless and needs to learn how to properly wear a face mask. I walked the entire store twice looking for help with Copic markers. They are locked in a case and require an associate to help. After nearly 10 minutes of searching I found 2 employees stocking a shelf. When I asked for a specific product, even showing a photo, I was greeted with yeah those are in another part of the store. I politely asked where that may be...upstairs in our office locked up. Both employees just stood there as if I was going to walk away and go find them. Asked for one of them to help. So we walk to the office entrance where we're asked to wait . Employee comes back and says out of stock. I asked for other color options and she went to check. Took pictures on her phone to show me what they had rather than just bringing the product to me. At $55 for 6 markers I kinda want to see the actual product. Here's the thing, the girl helping me today was kind and trying her best. You can tell the team is just there for a paycheck. I love this store. Its huge and has so many craft things and ideas. So much range of stuff too. Lots of silk/fake flowers. Mirrors, Photo frames, christmas stuff (in july fyi) baking stuff, scrapbook..list goes on. Lots of nick nacks that you never knew you needed. I love how things are organized by color. I got some great deals on baskets that were 50% off....then they went back up in price a month later which wasn't a great deal at all.. .. . . They did not take the next person in line who was waiting the longest (myself and my baby)... But took other people. If you have a hobby like me this is a dream comes true store. As an artist or as I like to call myself a painter, everything in my wildest dreams of painting is located in this store and at half of the price that you would probably spend it Michaels or Jo-Ann Fabric. I usually get my canvases that are 16 x 20 at Michaels and I spend $20 on a pack of five here it's $9.99. If you're into decorating or putting together toy cars or even learning how to draw people or cartoon characters or flowers, they definitely have books here to help you learn. If you have a hobby or something that you enjoy doing I would start at this place first . It's definitely worth the drive! You can get lost in all of the possibilities of the things that you can create. Hell, I found myself suddenly wanting to put together model cars. There's also a place where you can create headbands and bows for your little girls hair. I bought a few magazines and a whiteboard for my vision board that I'm putting together. I think Pinterest has a big hand in Hobby Lobby's success these days and this is with very good reason. So what's the big deal, you ask? Well to put it bluntly, Hobby Lobby is like Michael's and Jo Ann's combined, on crack. Awesome selection of quality flowers (and I'm not a fan of the fake kind - that's how good these are), tons of arts and crafts stuff for about every interest, and to top it all off everything is so spotless that even the biggest neat freak will be impressed. The prices are about average with some stuff below average and others a little above. I was a little miffed with a couple of the signs saying that some items were 50% off every day (c'mon now, please treat your customers like intelligent human beings and stop tricking them into thinking stuff is on sale!). But all in all the prices seem fair and their sales and offers are great. This is now one of my favorite stores and I am sure I will be returning a lot over the next few years to pick up supplies for projects for the house and with my kids. Nice job Hobby Lobby! read more

Never shopping here again. My family saw on Hobby Lobby's website that they sold Polaroid instant camera (assuming they had the film) and kites. We wanted to buy these supplies for our daughter. I asked a few employees if they had more kites the first employee was kind. However, I asked another employee(older woman possibly manager) if they had Fuji or Polaroid film. Yes, it was my mistake I didn't not clarify what I was looking for, but the lady said "No, we don't sell film." As we walked away the woman goes on her walkie and request that security look out for our family. Talk about racial profiling or just being rude. We were still in ear shot when she said her comments. I would have happily given this location 5 stars as this location carries many products that are hard to find but, omg! The polymer clay is a disaster! Twice I have mentioned to the staff that their polymer clay is old and twice they have blown me off. Last time I was there my son brought me the package of clay pictured and said "please", so I said ok and, being very distracted by my own shopping, failed to check the date on it...until just now. Holy spit! It's at least 3 years old! They just don't care that what they are selling is old, dry and crumbly. What a shame. Oh yeah, and I was making two separate purchases, one for me and one for my sister and they would only honor the first coupon on the first purchase. Is that the policy?
