This location has been here a long time. It's your typical HL. Not the cleanest location but it's okay. They have a big season selection of Fall and Christmas stuff. The staff was a little standoff-ish and not very helpful when we went in. But nonetheless it's a decent HL location but there are definitely better ones out there. read more

Good selection of items but the staff is terrible. Tried to go there today. After spending 15 minutes waiting to be checked out for my 2 items, I finally left because my line never even moved. There was a manager sitting there watching the staff struggle to get people through the lines. He could have hopped on a register & helped or had other staff members help.... Lots of fun activities to keep the whole family busy. Kids painting, making and creating. The girlfriend decorating and organizing. And myself getting some shadow boxes and display case for my meteorites. Due to the current state of things they only allow a certain number of customers in at a time which means you don't need to come in contact with anyone for the most part. Hobby Lobby Sold me a FULL price Cricut air explore air 2.... only to realize that the product they sold me was used, dirty, damaged and missing parts. Hobby lobby refused to refund or exchange the product. They made me feel as if I STOLE this Cricut or was trying to scam them. When in reality they SCAMMED ME! Even with my original receipt they would not help at all! Basically they stole $300 from my account! Hobby lobby corporate was not helpful and agreed with the store manager about not exchanging the product! read more

Our Hobby Lobby is the 2nd best chai art store in Gainesville. I prefer Joann's because of their awesome coupons (y'all, go to Joann's and use all the coupons, just suck it up and get the app to make it easier to get the coupons).. But for the art I do, Hobby Lobby has the best craft paint selection compared to both Joann's and Michael's. There selection of craft paints is extensive and inexpensive. They also have a few more hobbies that you don't see in the other two: stained glass, leather and wood working/burning, candle and soap making. J and M might have some of these things, not stained glass, but they always seem to have just a smidgeon. I'm branching out and testing the store brand acrylic paints as I learn more about the art. Today I picked up the HB brand Master's Touch liquid acrylic. I'm excited to test it out. I hope it suits my needs because it's a big jar of paint and will save money in the long run. HB has a 40% off coupon weekly and if you pay attention they have sales that equal Joann's. Michael's is still at the bottom of the list in this area. read more

Hobby Lobby has been open in Gainesville for quite a while now. I'd never been in the store until recently when we had a special need and we figured Hobby Lobby should have it. When we walked in the first thing I said was this place is HUGE. Its very well organized, well stocked and very clean. We've noticed they have coupons online which makes for getting good deals. We are now all Hobby Lobby fans. Its no doubt a specialty hobby store, but its very cool to browse and the do have stuff that's impossible to find elsewhere under one roof. read more

I dont recamend buying finished projects I do believe hey are over priced, however if you are a make it yourself this place is fantastic. Everything from paint, stencils, paint pens to fabric. And thats just the first two isles in the store. read more

Holy cannoli!! I am a professional seamstress. I normally buy my supplies online from a wholesale retailer.. I happen to be in the middle of an order for a client and ran out of 1 spool of white thread on my 4 spool serger. I live 30 minutes away from this store but if u need it you need it. Off I go to Gainesville.. The thread section is mostly machine embroidery thread (and tiny spools at that) but a small section of basic "fancy" thread and a handful of serger spools on the bottom. Only 1 spool of white serger thread was left. I ask the kid watching the department and she informs me that's where the thread is.. meanwhile someone drops something glass and the girl can no longer help me. In disbelief that they only have that small amount of something as basic as white thread, I wander the aisle looking for more. In my passing I see what looks like a manager. He assures me that is all the tread they have.. and yes.. They need to order more flabbergasted, I take the last spool of white and a tiny additional spool -just in case. I get to the register and my total comes to $18.18?!?! WOW!! Highway robbery. For reference, I normally buy serger spools online twice the size as this for $5 a piece. If you need chachkies this is your go to place.. lots and lots of crap like that. If you need basic craft/sewing supplies, I recommend you shop elsewhere! read more

You name it as it relates to arts and crafts, redecorating, weddings and party planning and HL is well equipped to assist. I exhausted my usual local resources looking for my favorite missing ingredient and before I ordered it online, I came here on my lunch break. HL had my favorite ingredient and a whole lot more. It's an arts and crafts, accessories and home décor warehouse. I could not believe everything they had to offer in the store. I have nothing against the workers there. What I do have a problem with is the management. I applied there not even a week ago and had an interview Wednesday. I was hired on the spot. I was so excited to work there because it was a high paying job and I needed that as a college student. Unfortunately the next day I woke up with food poisoning from McDonalds. I called in (my first day was supposed to be today) and told them what was going on and I didn't think I was going to be able to come in but I would more than willingly come in tomorrow morning and start training then. The manager Shawn/Sean (however you spell it) told me he's gonna go ahead and replace me. for having food poisoning. I simply said okay and now I realize this is completely unfair and NOT how you run a business at all. especially after you guys made sure I have "no business with my last job" as soon as you hired me. You hire and then fire me and leave me with NO PLACE TO GO as a broke college student who has monthly things to pay for? I won't be coming back and I'll be telling EVERYONE about this. you quit literally screwed me over. Didn't realize you guys had it in you especially with your morals and how you hold your business together to look so nice. This is probably why you guys have such a high turnover rate. The manager literally told me he had 3 people walk out on him, this is probably why. read more

Neither JoAnns nor Michaels come even remotely close to holding a candle to this store!! It is the ultimate craft/hobby/unique item store and has things for just about every theme - country, farm, religious, western . . . And, love the weekly 50% off items, and the 40% off single item coupon! Today went in to have a large canvas print framed for the first time and was not disappointed! Was helped by Joe who was exceptional - very pleasant, patient and recommended a pre-made barn board frame instead of a custom frame, which would have looked virtually the same, but would have cost far more. He worked with me until I was satisfied with my selections-- mats, frame and museum glass! I very much appreciated his great customer service!! read more

The employees are VERY unprofessional at this location. I have always loved Hobby Lobby. I still do! But from now on I will not be shopping at this location. Here is why...I walked into the fabric department and complimented the associate on her work with the outfit on the mannequin in that department. She replied with "when are you due?!". I have never had a child. I am simply a fat person. I felt this was very inappropriate and quite honestly it ruined my day. I hope she feels like a terrible person. Large crafts store (plus) that is well lit, clean, has well stocked shelves, friendly staff, & there's almost always a multitude of sales in the many departments. Many come w/ weekly coupons they find online. I buy large quality picture frames here, art supplies, beading, & holiday items. There's now lots of fashionable furniture, but it's cheaply made & overly priced; don't expect to find real wood furniture. The silk & other artificial flowers are very expensive, yet home decor items (I.e. clocks, trays, wall art, mobiles, pictures, prints, etc) are lower priced. How merchandise is priced at this chain is beyond my grasp. When a holiday approaches, Hobby Lobby is the store for you--aisle upon aisle of decorations, party supplies, & gift wrapping. And after a holiday, you can expect huge savings; they clear the shelves quickly. I prefer Hobby Lobby to Michael's for a multitude of reasons: store layout/organization, friendlier & more helpful staff, item variety, pricing on craft items, etc. And kudos to a company that puts its moral principles over corporate green regardless of backlash; it's another reason to shop here.
