I always like to stop in at Hobby Lobby whenever I'm in Morgan Hill since its the nearest one to my city.. They always have sales and clearance as well. Tried to purchase cardboard trifold for a school project waited in line over 20 minutes-because sales clerk couldn't scan item for price. Offered to grab sign with price to speed up line-she said no I called someone for price....long story short they can't scan for prices-they use a binder to check for sales and prices. Went in to get my poster framed and the frame ended up being $35. They offer a deal where if they frame the poster for you then they cut the price of the frame in half, but there is no framing fee. So for the price of half your frame, you get the frame as well as an exceptional framing job that goes above expectations. Everyone was very friendly and seemed to take pride in their job. read more

Basically this place is misnamed. This is a blend of Michaels & Cost Plus/World Market, minus the food. Do not go here if you are after actual hobby type supplies, RC gear, wargaming sets or pewter miniatures. I'm not sure what to call it, but I wouldn't call it Hobby Lobby. Maybe Momville, or Estrogen Square. Instead of being negative I'll tell you what they DO have, since they are open til 8 & have coupons for the random item you may need (I brought a 40% off one I printed). Let's say you're into Warhammer type stuff & want to paint your first miniature. They do have a tiny Testor's area (but no Dullcote). I'm not sure I'd use Testor's paints on a pewter mini but it's there. They have plenty of acrylic paint, but I couldn't find the type that was on sale, so just gave up. They do have some paintbrushes, and some foam, and trees, sand etc if you are into making environments. Lots of Xacto knives & rubber cutting mats etc. I did get one small flat #4 paintbrush, a 20-cup sealable paint tray/palette, and some Krylon primer. Have to track someone down to open the spray paint case, and they take it up to the front for you. Blame those darn gang members. I dunno. They have a few random end-of-list things, but for the real hobby supply shopping, one must look elsewhere. I did see some small rocket stuff, but nothing serious. It is not bad for what it is, but the name & what it is, are 2 different things. Plenty of picture frames & Bless This House mantlepiece wall word things for grandma. I have never in my life been into such an incredibly huge hobby store as Hobby Lobby!! It could potentially be very dangerous for me to live within 15 minutes of it because I am a teacher and go pretty much crazy every time I come. The store is HUGE so it's really easy to get overwhelmed in it but it's definitely worth looping down every aisle if possible. They sell everything from furniture & adorable home decor to fabric and every craft item you could ever imagine or need! They also have a huge holiday section (pretty much half the store) that was set up for fall and winter holidays. I came here to look around and left with a cart full of essentials for my classroom! The employees have always been incredibly helpful and nice, which I appreciate. They also have an app that always has a coupon on it so I recommend downloading that before you head in! read more

Well, what an interesting visit today! No surprise everything I wanted was already "on sale". That way you can never use the phone app for extra off. When it was time to check out, 12 people were in line, & only one checker. At least she had called for help. Help did come, & finally it was my turn. I noticed the checker was entering each item code instead of using the scanner. I asked why he was not using the scanner which would be faster. He replied that the scanner was more expensive!! It involves expensive programs, tech help & training! He then said it really only adds about 30 seconds to the transaction! Are you kidding me?!?! 12 people in line & he thinks that is an appropriate comment to a customer? He also said he had the power to decide which would be used in the store. Friday evening I had to stand in line for 25 minutes at the customer service register to make a return while the clerk chatted happily away with one customer and also didn't seem to agree on the price of floral items. When it was my turn she told me I had the Wrong receipt because the item was a dye and it should be under fabric not paper. What this clerk apparently doesn't know is that dye inks are also used for stamping on paper and for mixed media arts and this item by Tim Holtz was in the paper section of the store where Tim Holtz is afforded an entire section of the aisle. You can't use this dye on fabric. It is not made for fabric. The clerk proceeded to argue with me, was rude, and refused to let me see the receipt I handed her so I could explain. I didn't print the receipt Hobby Lobby you did. Please train you're clerks if they are confused to scan the item so they will realize they are actually wrong at times, teach them to be courteous to customers, and to call a manager when they need help. I was so upset at being treated this way I didn't make a purchase I had also come for so you lost my business. read more

Wow! I saw the outside and was amazed at the size. It was truly amazing from the moment I opened the front door and was greeted by a salesperson. I was looking for a couple of children's gifts and had my 40% off coupon in hand. I had so many things to choose from and everything was organized and the staff was very helpful finding different options for me when I told them the child's interests. I never even got through the entire store. It is huge. Prices were great and with a coupon, you can't beat it. When I was ready to check out, there was no line and two checkers to help me. Horrible management. I bought a framed picture here in August just before my daughter was born and it hung over her changing table until February the thing fell apart (the hanging hardware it came with ripped from the frame). Luckily my daughter was not on the changing table when it happened or we could have had a bigger issue. I immediately brought it back to exchange for a new one or replace it with something similar. The young ladies that assisted me were very kind, professional and apologetic. When they called Caroline over for assistance I was shocked at how rude and demeaning she was to both the employees and I. Caroline never apologized for the inconvenience but instead said that since I didn't bring the receipt (why would I save it if I planned on keeping it?) she would only apply 50% of the price toward the "return". First of all, this was clearly a defective product, not a "return". I would not have gone out of my way to bring it back if it didn't fall apart. She wanted to give me HALF the retail price and charge me the FULL price of the same item, without even offering one of their discount coupons. The way she handled the situation was extremely juvenile and she was argumentative the entire time. I later spoke to a male supervisor (Glen?) about the experience and he seemed less than interested. Pretty disappointed in the management of this branch when the company is so open about their values. Side note: While I was in line I overheard Caroline indiscreetly say to an employee, "don't ask if the customer needs to make a 'return'. Call it an 'exchange' to turn it back around on them." Let me start by saying this was the WORST shopping experience of my life. Employees were not only discourteous, crowding, and completely unknowledgable about the products they sell, they went so far as to accuse my friend and myself of stealing merchandise. Let me break the scenario down for the folks at home: I've been raving about this store and the vast variety of crafting and hobby supplies to a friend of mine for months. Finally, the opportunity for me to bring her along on one of my trips to the store presented itself and we seized it. Whilest shopping our interests and intrigues seperated us, but we managed to find each other in the fabrics department, where my friend excitedly began to share all the things she'd picked out to do with her children, and seeking my opinion on some others. We hadn't been there more than 2 1/2 minutes when a worker that had been eavesdropping from the next aisle over came and asked us if we needed help with anything. With smiles and good spirits we kindly declined her assistance. With a sort of huff she departed the aisle, literally less than 30 seconds my friend and I hear the same woman on the intercom asking for a security check in fabrics. My friend and I looked around thinking we were going to see someone stealing or whatnot only to realize we were the only ones in fabrics. WOW, REALLY? Almost instantaneously yet another loudspeaker message informing the stores general manager, Glen, that the local police were holding on line three. That's when I had had enough and immediately sought a manager out. Which wasn't hard because by the time I told my friend what I was doing there was the department manager, radio in hand, standing at the end of the aisle staring back at me. I have been in management myself for nearly ten years, for everything from neighborhood pharmacies to family favorite diners and I know for a fact security checks are not routinely requested by department. So, when I expressed my opinion on the matter she had nothing more to say than, "Odds are, that someone is most likely stealing. Doesn't necessarily mean it was directed towards you though." Then I told her to look around and that we were the only ones there. She wasn't experienced enough to handle the situation herself and she opted to call Glen, the store manager. When Glen arrived he explains that security checks by department are routine and aren't directed at the individuals within them. It was that very direct and blatant act of willful and intentional deceit by the stores head representative that I decided to not engage in full blown, full forced battle of wits and words with this man. I turned to my friend and we disgustedly left our carts without making our purchases. Instead, we made our purchases at their largest competitor, and from this point on, my only craft supply store. DON'T BOTHER VISITING THIS STORE UNLESS YOU PREFER TO BE DICRIMINATED AGAINST, WRONGFULLY ACCUSED OF THEFT, AND INDIRECTLY THREATENED WITH THE POLICE. NEWS FLASH HOBBY LOBBY - ONLY GUILTY PEOPLE TUCK TAIL AND RUN WHEN THREATENED WITH AUTHORITIES. I'LL BET YOU DIDN'T THINK WE WERE THE TYPE TO STAY LONG ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT AND EXPLORE RESOLUTE ALTERNATIVES. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more
